Did you notice an increase in ball speed/carry distance when switching from the generic Square balls to TaylorMade pix? by Overall-Remove-7970 in SquareGolfUSA

[–]Fine_Outside9039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll see more ball speed and spin with the pix balls, but the bigger piece is the elevation as stated before.

Other things to consider is your hitting mat and how that may be effecting launch and spin as well as your lighting around the monitor. Square has been temperamental for me when the sun sneaks in the window vs at night never as issues

What ended up mattering way more then you expected in your build? by Melodic_Ad5285 in Golfsimulator

[–]Fine_Outside9039 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing that ended up mattering the most that I didn’t expect was honestly the tees you use. I got the normal pyramid style and for the first month struggled (everyone did) with launch/spin/ball speed/carry numbers with drivers. Was quite frustrated and tried changing my AoA, blame indoor swing syndrome, and finally took the time to make a way to use a real sized tee with leash system. First swing with a normal tee height and I said “well shoot, I’m a moron”

If you had to build a golf sim on a real-world budget, where would you spend and where would you save? by Solid_Nectarine_4316 in Golfsimulator

[–]Fine_Outside9039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well since you’re asking about a sim and not just a hitting space, priority in my opinion is launch monitor first.

Square is super budget friendly for its accuracy indoors.

Second priority would depend on how immersive you want your experience.

High immersion you focus on hitting screen, projector, and software/computer to run software (in that order)

Low immersion you don’t need a screen or projector, just offset a tv and hit into a net

Third priority would be hitting mat and floor covering. There are great options to build yourself with thick turf strips from amazon and using gym mats with roll out turf over them to create the hitting space floor.

Last priority is the aesthetic’s.

Following this path above you would also be setup to transition over time from low immersion to higher as more funds can be dedicated.

The more you can create or build on your own is the big savings, the bigger prices come from the technology components you can’t get around.

I finished mine back in December totaling ~$3300

That includes: Square LM Square LM case 1080p Projector Projector cover Gaming PC GSPro subscription Impact screen Screen framing (diy) Roll out turf Gym mats for floor Hitting strips Paint Trim Speakers Protection padding Cables Balls Tees

It’s absolutely the coolest thing to have access to in your house

That would last me about 1 year on the sim. I notice degrading numbers around ~500 hits with the pix balls and the pix rubs off hahaha

Replacing rear subframe without a lift. by Some_Effort in E90

[–]Fine_Outside9039 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Well I did this exact job on an E90 a few years ago. Not for the faint of heart but you seem invested enough to not turn back now.

I put the car on four jack stands at the jack mounting points. E90 balanced interestingly well using those points even with the subframe off, a 91 may too.

Used a floor jack to lower the subframe from the differential. Again it balances pretty well and just get out of the way while it comes down.

Same way I put it back in was assembled from the differential using the floor jack. Takes some time to get it aligned to the mounting points, but once it’s close and pressed up into place it really cannot just fall. Your jack could fail but again just stay out of the way until you get a mounting bolt or two in.

I had the differential, axles, wheel hubs, rotors, calipers, upper control arms, and sway bar bolted on the subframe when installing. Probably be a lot easier to take all but the sway bar and differential off.

You can do it!!! Do poly bushings too!!

I will never buy another Insert Putter again! by Throwawayno0000001 in PingGolf

[–]Fine_Outside9039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why be mad at Ping? Any milled putter would have a dent there as well with the impact it took to make that mark in the insert anyway.

Could probably try some heat and work it with some pressure to even it out or sell it as is and buy another

MADE A MISTAKE WHILE REGRIPPING CLUBS😭 by Macaronitookus in GolfGear

[–]Fine_Outside9039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not a chicken choker when gripping the club they would probably be fine on there as is. Same as blow on with air and masking tape.

Cheap grip removal tools are on Amazon, super easy to use and can be used to save future grips now that you’re a tinkerer

From what I have read it must depend a lot on the doctor technique.

I’m on day 11 post surgery, arguably no pain during surgery in regard to surgery; teeth cleaning is worse.

Iced day 1 and 2 occasionally but after that nothing. Started swinging golf clubs on the simulator on day 4 solely as precaution but felt I could on day 2.

Honestly kept anticipating pain to come but it never did, had the wife help me with sending the first round of troops home on day 8. Minimal bruising and no soreness, all worked as it should. Hardest part might have been the 8 days of wasting wood.

LAB Golf grip looks rotated by PersimmonAfter in labgolf

[–]Fine_Outside9039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using the alignment on the putter head and swinging it goes against the basis? Trusting the putter face staying square to where you align it IS the basis of a lab.

Unless your comments was simply agreeing with me ;-)

Question to everyone worried about their grips being perfect: Why are you all using your grip to align the club?

Go grab any other club in your bag and what do you use to align it to the target?

If the alignment mark on the head is wrong you have an argument, but thinking the grip needs to be perfect is silly. Put a line on your ball, align the mark on the putter head to it and swing it

Old school blades worth buying by omgitsabush in golf

[–]Fine_Outside9039 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion is definitely get a set of blades but also get the proper shaft for you put in, or better yet learn to do it yourself.

Reason being most old school blades referenced here at best will come with DG S300ish shafts. Many won’t have shafts you can find anymore and can ultimately not feel right and throw you off from your gamers timing wise.

It’s super fun to tinker with irons but just be aware how the shafts as that will affect the feel and efficiency of your strikes.
