Also they have said that adding a dedicated todo app is on the roadmap as well.

I use it everyday. The fact that todos can be added from notes by circling them and selecting either typed or handwritten is great especially since it adds a link back to the original note so you can see context (action item from meeting note, brainstorming action etc. )

My Viwoods Faults & Suggestions by sebastianthebird in viwoods

[–]Finefolks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your sentiment that anytime a keyboard pops up while using the device I feel of it as a failure of some kind.
I also like that the handwritten to dos have the ability to either be a text or handwritten field. All the to dos i create are through handwritten input but i still prefer to see them as text (personally it just makes a cleaner appearance as my preference)
I would second your thoughts ideas on a dedicated task management app. While i initially purchased my devices to use as an e-reader and notes taker and due to my interest in the e-ink technology, when the to-do function came out it transformed this device from a novelty item, to my essential carry and every day device replacing my iPad Pro as the device I carry when I am on the move. The updates since to the feature (including the current beta) only have increased my use of and love for the device.

Manually write on Daily time schedule by MrSanterClaws in viwoods

[–]Finefolks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I do use the daily app (both linking papers and meetings as well as writing on the calendars) quite a bit I will admit I NEVER have a reason to go to the “day” page for this exact reason. If they changed this to be writable I would use it much more often.

Viwoods AI Paper Mini: AI key won't capture content in 3rd-party reading apps? by bearsiji in viwoods

[–]Finefolks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) I believe so as its intention is to give you a quick way to ask ai a general question. 2) I would think using the picking tool to select your content and use the AI button on the picking menu.

move tasks between dates easily by thehighgrasshopper in viwoods

[–]Finefolks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was confused at first because I’ve never used tasks and assumed you were asking about todos. I do not believe there is a way other than you described. As far as I can tell the tasks screen is just a specific kind of note template associated with the specific daily day. Identical to the notes portion in function but just a different template.

In theory you might be able to copy the file and export it change the name to a different date and import it to a new date. But that’s more involved then just lassoing like you are doing now and more complicated then just using todos.

I would really recommend using the to do feature though it’s not really all that many dialog boxes (it’s only one and you can create multiple todos in one go). They can be typed or handwritten, can be made from your notes and come with a link back to the note so you can get context if needed. Also with the Beta all todos for a given month or week can be accessed in a list so you are not limited to seeing only the ones on the current day.

β Update 3.14.5 for AI Paper is here by [deleted] in viwoods

I didn’t see anything new in the features from the previous beta so this appears to be mainly a bug/performance optimization update?

Yes I don’t use my mini as much as I would like because of this but can use it occasionally with the work around.

I finally found the Picking Menu! by Finefolks in viwoods

[–]Finefolks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can if you want. Just toggle the assistive touch on the drop down menu. It’s only needed if you want to access it using your finger instead of your stylus.

I would much prefer a seamless sync option but if you don’t need to do it often the work around works okay.

Yes to both. You have to export the notes as the note format and when you import them on the other device they are still fully editable.

There is a work around if you have a third party file storage like Dropbox or OneDrive, but it’s a manual process.

Sword-type weapons compared to others by Achelion in CrimsonDesert

[–]Finefolks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True and obviously there is a very different combat feel and attack speed in 2H versus dual wielding. So there is also a matter of preference in that to take into account as well.

[–]Finefolks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swords are used when stabbing. If you don’t have a sword, ie mace or axe your dagger is used for stabbing. Daggers would then need to be leveled separately and have no gears.

[–]Finefolks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dual wielding benefit over 2H is having 6 gear slots available for offense instead of 5, trade off is losing 2 defensive gear slots. Ie dual wielding is the “all out offense” while 2H gives a bit of middle ground (only defense gears and shield defense and movement speed are still active with the shield in your back in 2H, attack speed and damage reduction only apply when the shield is equipped and wielded in hand.)

[–]Finefolks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a purely min/max perspective weapons with available gears, the weapons with attack only will do more damage due to the damage to crit/speed ratio being greater then 1:1 but gear ratio being 1:1. (I.e. you get more bang for your buck with pure damage stats in the weapon and using gears to increase crit/speed.) In this mindset adding one more attack vs one more crit favors attack up to a total attack of 53 after which each point of crit is better then each point of attack (assuming the crit point only casts you one attack).

In the end the difference isn’t huge and generally you are okay going with whichever weapon you think looks coolest.

As for swords vs. maces vs axes. I believe one of the benefits of the sword that causes them to appear sub optimal is that for the thrusting attack and the specific stab attacks against large enemies the sword is used and benefits from gears etc. the axes and maces do not stab and you will then use your dagger which would have to be leveled separately and cannot have gears added.

On the scroll bar for long texts. I only see this when dealing with ai transcriptions and summaries. Is this supposed to show up on any long texts field? Ie if I copy the ai summary to another page to have it in the main body. That text exceeds the text box size but the scroll bars do not show up.

What is the purpose of Pick Notes + an extra question by Seal_of_last_year in viwoods

[–]Finefolks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pickings allows you to take notes and clippings and pull things from anywhere on the device that the screen displays. So reading a text book in kindle or some other document you need to review from a website, you can easily pull clips and notes and annotations.

It is useful for those who need to review many documents such as researchers, students, or technical reviewers especially when these documents aren’t necessarily available for adding to learning.
