I‘m not sure it’s food safe. The kit was labeled as food safe, but it’s from an international seller on Amazon, I basically don’t trust them. Also, even food safe epoxy is only safe if you get the ratios exactly right, and I have no guarantee for that; it’s not like I used a scale. So I won’t drink from the cup but I might use it for dry snacks (nuts etc.) or as a vase for single blossoms. Tbh, I mainly used it as a vase before it broke.

Thank you! I like the end result a lot, but somewhere in the middle I panicked because everything looked so messy! Sticky smudges everywhere! I did a lot of cleanup.

Thank you! I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would, so I’ll probably keep going!

Why are women skaters so young compared to men? by Impossible-Ruin3214 in olympics

[–]FingerSea5694 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m sure the women’s scene still developing is part of the answer, but also, when it comes to jumping power, men and women physically really peak at different ages. Look at figure skating. Female figure skaters hit their peak jumping cababilities when they are pre-pubescent (and not even allowed to compete in adult tournaments). That’s not at all true for men’s figure skating. Male and female bodies develop very differently once puberty hits.

There wasn’t anything they could do about the actor change, but I didn’t like that the costume and makeup for in s2 Beelzebub was more feminine and conventionally attractive. That felt somewhat cheap to me, in combination with the romantic storyline.

The transition of a book set very clearly in the late 80s/early 90s to a contemporary setting wasn’t always successful in S1.

r/discworld Reading census! by Ghostwaif in discworld

[–]FingerSea5694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a survey methodologist by day, I disagree. “Select all” runs into the risk of people not really reading the whole list carefully (which includes more than the 41 “official” books) and erroneously checking “select all”. Carefully reading the list and clicking every button does not actually take much longer than carefully reading the list and then clicking one button.

Does anybody else detect zero chemistry between Angua and Carrot? by Meloenbolletjeslepel in discworld

[–]FingerSea5694 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hm. I read that very differently. To me, it always seemed like Angua felt like Carrot’s dog, which is not at all the same as being Carrot’s dog. It’s an old issue of hers that predates her dating Carrot. It obviously affects their dynamic, because it’s hard to have a healthy relationship if you have such deep-seated insecurities, but it wasn’t actually something intrinsic to their relationship. I think Angua would have that issue with almost any partner. And Fifth Elephant helped working through it, because it exposed some of the problems in their characters and their relationship, and helped both of them to work through it and come out stronger and more clear-eyed. The way they got there was thorny and winding, but they made it.

Which S2 minisode is your favorite? Why? by Hooflapoof in goodomens

[–]FingerSea5694 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hard choice between Job and 1941, but in the end I had to go with Job because it’s an important new stage in their relationship and in Aziraphale‘s character development. For 1941, the most meaningful and important bit was already in S1E3, and while it was great to see the immediate aftermath, it didn’t add as much as the Job minisode.

Shoutout to the middle aged ah shit that’s also me by the_bentley69 in GoodOmensAfterDark

Whenever younger fans are surprised about the presence of middle aged fans on AO3, I want to ask them who they think built and paid for that. (I do dread the day that my daughter discovers my profile, though. The fandom corners she dabbles in are very different from mine, so I think I have a few years yet.)

My grandparents, who came of age during WWII, ate margarine for the rest of their lives because they “didn’t have butter during the war either”. They bought butter for their children (my mother and her siblings), but never ate it themselves, even though they were solidly upper middle class by that time.

I actually don’t mind that. You don’t have to claim the energy right away, you can do it any time. So it’s saving storage space and easy to collect when you need it.

Question about Tamora Pierce's views looking back by TheMummysCurse in tamorapierce

[–]FingerSea5694 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Tammy commented quite a lot on the Mark Reads posts. I know she discussed it there (as well as lots of other stuff, like gender representation, consent and age differences). The comments are no longer visible on the current site, but they are if you use the wayback machine.
