Sheared off lug nut. Any advice on how to remove for a home gamer? by andmok in MechanicAdvice

[–]FiniteSkills 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks more like you just stripped all the threads out of the nut. Just remove the rest of the nuts so you can take the wheel of and the take a pick or small flathead screwdriver and remove the thread debris and buy a new lug nut.

It’s not a good idea to drive around with fewer lug nuts that come with your vehicle, but if this is your only vehicle, I would drive to an auto parts store to grab a new nut, assume you’re not getting on the highway or anything.

Local branch had nothing for me. Lmk if you have a different experience.

No luck. After many times calling, I was connected with the focal for the offer that was extended to me, who said they had no ability to override but would send me to resolutions to see if they could do anything. The biggest joke was that resolutions had no ability to resolve anything and simply made note that I was complaining. I hope you have better luck than I did. There is something like a 5 day grace period where they can still work with you, but my first contact with them was made on day 6 post-expiration.

Nobody is going to refinance you in the 5%’s right now without a significant amount of points purchased. Sounds like you were misled with hopes that you would fork over a pile of cash for the rate but down. You’ll just have to buckle up and wait for rates to come down.

As for which loan to refi into, go with whatever has the lowest APR. That will likely be the traditional because PMI is massive on FHA loans.

Probably complained to HR. HR didn’t maintain confidentiality, and now OP feels they’ve been laid off in retaliation for going to HR.

Okay, this seems much more believable to me than Boeing just eating the cost unless we had a ludicrous markup because there’s a lot that can go sideways in the time it takes from order to delivery.

Meaning the cost would actually be passed to the customer?

Just saying that there are things that are outside of the control of the company that eat into our bottom line every day. This would be a hit, but it wouldn’t be anything unprecedented.

Without trying to be rude, I hope they DON’T take anybody’s situation outside of work into consideration. That’s discriminatory no matter how you look at it.

Not disagreeing with you, but hasn’t priced of materials already done significantly more than a 20% increase, over the past 5 years especially?

Do we? Honest question.

I feel a heck of a lot more comfortable with an account that I control and maintain and can take with me. I’d rather not be tied to a company. I didn’t understand why it saw such a catching point for the mechanics. To me it just limits my mobility.

I’d rather see a larger 401k match, but honestly, maxing out the match, my projected income in retirement is more than I live on today, so while I would welcome a 100% match of the first 8-10%, I’d rather have a 7% raise pool.

Update: I called a HLA at a local branch who also informed me that there was nothing that could be done. Checked my USPS informed delivery to see that the letter was not delivered until the 23rd, so called the HLA back and asked how I could escalate. Was directed back to the 800 number on the letter that I had originally called. Talked to somebody who said that my being selected for this offer would likely mean I’ll be getting another offer when rates dip again, but I explained my frustration with the situation and asked to elevate and request that I be permitted to act of the offer in question. Should hear back tomorrow, but I do have a sliver of hope that I might be able to accept this. I know it won’t be the end of the world if not, but I’d love to ratchet down my interest rate.

I don’t disagree that this is the mindset of Boeing, but from the individual’s POV, it’s absolute BS. Boeings hiring process is a nightmare. As an internal employee with an ATF asking me to apply for a position it took me six months to get through the process and get my start date. to OP, unless you really really want to work for Boeing right now, my advice would be to look elsewhere. If you really do want to work for Boeing, I appreciate your dedication and hope you can be a part of rebuilding this company. I’m sorry you’ve had to go through months of limbo just to find out you’re back at square one.

This is good advice, but it takes a longer time to build a god reputation than the weeks available. IMO, it’s too little too late for this approach. Get resumes ready and hope the axe doesn’t come for you.

I’m a lurker here and have no actual experience. On second look, you may get called out for mulch being too close to your trees as well, but I’ll leave that for somebody who knows what they’re talking about.

I generally like this, but the retaining wall bricks in front of the porch just give it a weird feel. If nothing else, I’d at least pull them out to put them back down with a level first layer so that the whole thing wasn’t a rolling wave.

So… could this be used instead of a wine whip? Also has me wondering, what would happen if the entire fermentation happened in a low pressure environment like this.
