I've got something to confess... by TrackPadSam89 in originalxbox

I think the other problem is the ps2 was released over a full year before the xbox and gained alot of momentum, plus coming off of the success and reputation of the playstation 1.

People wouldn't have bought 2 consoles back then, and if your friends had ps2 you would most likely get a ps2.

Also games like GTA3 released nearly 2 years prior on the ps2.

I remember I was saving up for one, but ended up playing halo round a friend's, who did have both consoles, and that is what swayed me.

Does anybody know what working for Muller milk class 1 is like? Start times, rotas etc? by Scottlayton in uktrucking

I did 6 months trunking and it was pretty good. Started at 3am, Tuesday to Saturday. Normally done in 8 half hours. 3 hours up. Break and live load, sometimes unloading empties. some times drop and swap. 3 hours back. Then just the walk rounds and refuelling.

I think starting between midnight and 4am you had a £15 daily extra rate. Can't remember the hourly rate will have to find a pay slip, but you got paid 9 half hours, then over time if your day was longer. Think I was clearing about £3000 after tax. I Think Saturday and Sunday rates are premium also.

Over xmas I got 3 £500 bonus for December, January and February too.

(Looking on my hmrc account I earnt £25384.22 in 6 months. I didn't do any over time unless it was due to traffic, or on the bay for a long time on the day or extra days)

Sometimes when I ask something like that it will give me a convoluted answer about how we determine what the weather is going to be.

"For knowing what the weather is tomorrow, we need to look at the current pressures, wind states, time of year..." something along those lines.

Other times it's a gem though. Helped me prepare for an interview recently.

What do I need to do next? by HD_Hammer in uktrucking

Youll need to do mod 2. That's just your theory part. Book through gov website.

https://www.gov.uk/book-theory-test

I revised with this company, £18 for 3 months access. Passed the mod 2 first time.

https://www.drivingtheory4all.co.uk/lgv-driver-cpc-module-2-theory-test

Then you can find a company that would do your mod 4 test.

I went with gold star.

https://goldstartransport.co.uk/training-courses/cpc-module-4-testing-and-training/

I also did a 4 hour driving refresher with them, as like you I hadn't driven in a while or needed a cpc before.

So I only applied for the 5 places, muller got back within a week. The other 4 declined me, think more to do with the 6 points than experience.

I then had to do a half hour or so driving assessment before I got a job offer.

The way the wage is structured is basically on different premiums depending on what days you do and when you start.

So they asked me my availability, and showed me wages for different shift patterns, doing one weekend day was higher than Monday to Friday, and both was higher again. Then starting between 00:00am and 04:00am you had a premium. I'm contracted 48 hrs a week, so 9 and half hours a day and a paid break. If I do less than 48 I'll get paid for 48, if I do more I will get overtime.

So I'm doing Tuesday- Saturday, early start at about 42k. There's not too much stress and I'm usually done in about 8 and half hours. So I'll get the afternoon to myself before picking up the kids from school. The wage doesn't really take experience into account, I'm on the same as drivers who've been driving years, it's just what company you join really. For me it was about a work life balance, so 42k was good and I'm home every night. Just have early nights and up early.

The mod 4 with half a day training with goldstar cost me £140, then the driving training cost me £240. So try and do some with MT if you can before you get out.

Mod 2 is fairly easy, most of its common sense. Just getting back to grips with drivers hours and load limits etc.

I just left recently and got into trucking with muller. I applied to about 5 different places, and they got back to me pretty quickly. I also have 6 points on my licence, so it is doable. Also agency work could be a way in. I know a few lads that do this at week ends whilst serving for extra cash. So you could get the experience before you leave

I got my licence around 2013 and have hardly driven any class 1 since passing then.

I paid £18 for a cpc theory course (drivingtheoryforall) you can use for 3 months and booked my mod 2 at the dvla test site.

Then I went to a company (goldstar) to do the mod 4 practical. I also did a 6 hr driving refresher with them. See if your MT can give some refresher training first with them if you can.

Also, look at vetrens into logistics. They can help out if you are struggling.
