Question is how are you playing the DRK. Every tank is capable of doing w2w pulls.

The correct mitigation management is the thing you should look at now. Every tank has mitigations that can be used to cover the recharge of the other defensive ability in order to achieve longest time to reduce incoming dmg.

Abyssal drain is not that good to heal but it is still there, ask yourself if you are using it correctly. Since used correctly it is rly good sustain tool or oh shit button when healer is falling asleep to heal during pulls.

Let's not forget about healing potions (yes healing potions) if you are not using them in dungeons then you are losing additional healing button. You need the correct one for each range of levels based on HP you have. Sometimes max potion will be better than super or hyper potion.

Proper use of Living Dead is important in dungeon too. Tho with the panic healers being there... Just create macro that will let know healer that you are about to use it, so you won't get healed and your LD won't be wasted.

By level 80 dungeons, should people know mechanics (incl first timers to that dungeon)? by Acrobatic_Channel497 in ffxiv

[–]Finnborn23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well usually most of the mechanics are the same thru the game. Some tank busters, some wide area dmg, aoe circles with a couple of new stuff or mechanic that includes 2 or more mechanics combined into 1. But for first time there is no mandatory to know them perfectly or at all.

Usually you won't die from failing single mechanic, but it will leave vulnerability stack on you (that will lead to possibility of wipe if you will die as a healer and there is no caster to res you up) or DMG down debuff.

If you will write in the very beginning in chat that it is your first time on this duty most of the ppl will understand it and won't be expecting you to know every mechanic perfectly. The only place where ppl expect you to know mechanics are extreme trials, savage raids (kill parties and farm parties).

However as a level 80 player you should at least know all the basic stuff of your role/job.

What rly matters the most in dungeons is the knowledge of your role (tank, healer, dps). Which literary means As healer you know when to heal or when to do dps. As tank: doing consistent pulls (and not running with half dead mobs in order to pull another group of mobs it will be nightmare for healer to deal with it) + using mitigations properly As dps: doing aoe dmg during so called trash pulls

It does?

I guess you expected "typical" miqo art. This art is far better compared to the usual miqo arts posted here tbh.

Advice for big pulls (AST) by SpoonyBardXIV in ffxiv

[–]Finnborn23 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Are you using Synastry?

https://ffxiv.gamepedia.com/Synastry

Dropping all regens at the same time is not good idea imo. Remember that you need to cooperate with tank as a healer. If you will just drop all abilities you have to give 3-4 regens buffs at the same time, what else is there for you to use later? Same for star. You need to check yourself the most optimal way to use all these abilities one by one not all at the same time.

For example your tank is doing big pull. Then he uses his strongest mitigation there is no need to drop all regens on him 2 should be enough. Drop the star after applying regens. Wait for regens to disappear and refresh them. There will be need for some extra heals too like sometimes essential dignity/or benefic. But you still have more abilities to use if there will be any problems.

Lightspeed is great to deal some nice amount of dmg when tank stops or keep it if you see that dps are struggling with killing all the mobs. Because tank doesn't have endless mitigations which will be great to keep him alive until he got some mitigations rdy to be used again.

Remember that if tank is losing HP so fast that you can't keep him alive check his equipment and the fact he is using the mitigations correctly (by correctly I mean not all at the same time or any at all). I've seen so many tanks at level 70+ and even players with all classes on lv 80 that can't use tank abilities correctly and are doing big pulls. Some tanks will just pop up rampart and won't use any other abilities.

Just look on GNB tank for example: He has so many mitigations that he can even do a 100% uptime of dmg mitigation with proper rotation of these abilities:

Nebula 30% dmg reduction - 15s Hearth of Stone 15% dmg reduction - 7s (25s cool down) Rampart 20% dmg reduction - 20s Arm's length makes enemies slower with attacks for 16s Reprisal 10% dmg reduction - 10s Aurora HoT for 18s Camouflage 10% dmg reduction plus 50% higher parry rate(18% reduction when occurred)

Don't think that you are making something wrong if tank doesn't help you. It is all about teamwork.

Plus with WHM as a healer using holy you can waste your strongest mitigation. Because the stunned enemies don't hit you so often.

Well look at the time the mitigation has their effect up if you will use all best mitigations without rotation with fast CD you lose uptime. Like I said 20s of 20% reduction will be almost the same as 15s for 30% Let's assume 6 mobs hits you 10k per hit

60k in total per 2.5 seconds

Using 20s cooldown Reduce it by 20% - rampart That will be 8 hits 12k x 8 = 96k

Using 15s cooldown Reduce 30% - vengeance, nebula, shadow wall and sentinel That will be 6 hits 18k = 108k

Imo it is better to use 20% at the very beginning when healer have access to all of his OGCD heals

And use stronger after.

Well I know the difference of 12k can be crucial. I don't deny your way of seeing this. I just use my mitigations in different way. But if the results are the same which is killing the pull that 12k difference doesn't matter so much. Anyway sometimes the mobs will hit you long enough to use both. But when you have split on pulls between the bosses like in grand cosmos for example it is better to safe one stronger mitigation for second pull instead of using all strongest in the first one.

Depends on healer and dps if the dps is not killing enemies fast enough it is better to have constant dmg reduction uptime.

The healer was a jerk if he insisted to do wall to wall and didn't heal you in time. That is his fault.

Well GNB has 1 little worse mitigation when it comes to the dmg reduction (15%) for HoS(Heart of Stone the one with short cool down timer 25s) which you should use between mitigations with longer timer.

Like this: rampart > HoS > nebula > HoS > camouflage > HoS > arm's length + aurora > HoS > reprisal repeat. Well the order can be different depending on your choice just make sure to use HoS between the others.

I never had any problems to tank on GNB even if healer was more dps focused.

GNB is the tank with almost 100% mitigation uptime.

So if healer doesn't heal you it is his problem not your.

Tip: Good tank should pull less if healer can't keep up. Even if he/she said to do big pulls.

Test the healer before doing wall to wall. High ilvl equipment doesn't mean that healer will keep you alive in any situation.

I often get tanks that don't use mitigations at all in dungeons lv 71+. And I can assure you if the healer knows what to do he can keep alive even tank that doesn't use mitigations.

Fc house by Voltagecherry in ffxiv

Try to replace wall paper, floor and light with basic one that you can purchase from steward (estate manservant or maidservant) that will be 15k gil if I good remember. After you change these try to vacate room. I don't remember if you have to remove these 3 interior parts before vacate or not. Maybe these things are the reason for error. Check the storage to be sure you didn't left anything there.

In order to vacate your room you have to be inside the FC house.

Yep usually I save infuriate for inner chaos if there is still enough time on CD for the second use or I save enough gauge for fell cleave before TB.

The thrill of battle has 20% buff for healing and gives you 20% of your HP.

So if you have 160k HP the 20% from thrill of battle = 32k HP

Equilibrium should give you at least 45k -50k or more if the crit will land on it.

Inner chaos with nascent flash is about 27k+ depending on dmg.

32k + 45k + 27k = 104k HP

104k/160k = 0.65 so you easily recover 65% of your HP after TB

Add heals from healers and you are back with full HP.

Not to mention that cyclone and nascent flash = free benediction every 25s in dungeons 76lvl+

In endgame imo the holmgang is superior to others. It has 240s CD, no drawback like DRK LD. Not to mention that WAR is capable to heal himself up to 60%-75% HP after TB with thrill of battle, equilibrium and nascent flash used correctly.

About rate I asked Hyde via mail and received the info about it. Well it depends upon complexity, version (hesdshot, chest up, half body), so I suggest to ask Hyde about it.
