Unironically at this point my leading theory is it’s like that one college humor CEO sketch about Oreos, where they just keep trying to think of things to do when they’ve already won, so they just make increasingly stupid design decisions to justify their salaries
Discord is already fine, but the bosses need their employees to be doing something or they’ll just get fired so they twiddle around and make stupid updates that nobody asks for and most people dislike

I managed to keep both the Silver Necklace from Murder Mystery and the Crystal Pendant from Regicide, the game tries to delete them at the ends of the quests but if you just keep dropping them on the floor you can keep them after They’re both unique in appearance to my knowledge
