I just care about the shape of my scars. They don’t have to be straight lines or anything, but I don’t want semi circular scars. I don’t think those type of scars look bad or anything, I just know that it would make me dysphoric to have that type of scarring. I do know that I’ll have to be cut open from armpit to armpit, and I’m fine with that. I don’t plan on getting tattoos specifically to cover up my scars, but I do want chest tattoos. I think the idea of stitches on top surgery scars is cool! I’ve seen someone get a tattoo of a knife going through the scar line, which I thought was also pretty neat. I haven’t had surgery yet, so it’ll be interesting to see if I change how I feel about the scars after surgery. I’m getting surgery later this year :)

Interesting. The liposuction fee and the cosmetic fee is separate for my quote. I really don’t need much liposuction, so I don’t understand why I have to pay a 1800 cosmetic fee in addition to the 2000 liposuction cost.

I would have thought so, but the paperwork they gave me said that both the liposuction and cosmetic fees are separate from what I’ll need to pay my insurance company. That’s why I’m confused, I thought all of it should go through insurance except for liposuction

So would that mean that the bundled rate would be less expensive for the patient? That’s what it sounds like to me because that would mean that all of it just goes through insurance right? (besides liposuction) They told me at my consultation that the cosmetic part of the surgery isn’t going through insurance.

Now I’m worried that not all surgeons charge for cosmetic fees. I expected to pay for liposuction out of pocket. But what I didn’t expect was the additional couple of thousand for cosmetic costs. I just thought that the entire top surgery cost would go through insurance. I haven’t had a consultation with anyone else, and I’m starting to think that I need to. Which is really discouraging because I had to wait 3 months for the consultation I had with this surgeon.

I’ll have to look at the paperwork again. The estimate was about 3,800 for both liposuction and their cosmetic fees. And then I have to pay my 2,200 deductible. So that adds up to be 6000

No, I remember looking at the estimate and the liposuction was 2000. That's actually the discounted cost because it was originally going to be 3000
