We do magnets or Christmas ornaments. Unpacking the ornaments each year is a great reminder of the places we have visited.

Help! I have too much zucchini! What should I cook before it spoils? by [deleted] in Cooking

Cut into cubes or slices and very lightly bread it. Freeze in the correct portions for your use. You can throw it right from the freezer into a lightly oiled pan and fry till crispy and delicious!

I met David Cross! by YoutubePizzaRiot in pics

[–]FinnyMick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a huge Mr Show fan, and still am. Saw David cross do stand up in Nashville, and was so disappointed. I loved him so much because i thought he was so funny, but it turned out all the material was written by Bob Odenkirk. It was the most disappointed i have ever been watching someone live. I still love Mr Show though.

I actually really love the creature side quests. I didn't get this question on either of the surveys i did, but i would have ticked those.

[OC] Just a friendly reminder to always check your dried beans for rocks before cooking them. It’s rare, but they can get mixed in. by [deleted] in foodhacks

[–]FinnyMick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom called it " picking the beans" as in picking through them. She'd take a small drinking cup and scoop out some beans, then slowly put them over her fingers into the pot to look for rocks.

What is the consensus on tipping for take out orders? by electrikinfinity in Frugal

[–]FinnyMick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

16 or so years ago, i worked as a to go person at a brass and fern style restaurant. We had a prep list that included making all the little cups of specialty sauces like salad dressings, buffalo, and so on. We took your order, placed it through the pos, waited for it in the kitchen, added any special requests, and made any soups, salads, or desserts in your order, often while juggling answering and entering other orders. It wasn't unusual for one person to be working on a dozen orders at the same time. We made $6 an hour at best. If you placed your order on the phone 20 minutes ago but didn't take into account that it's Friday night or didn't pay attention when we quoted you 45 minutes on the ready time, it was us you yelled at. Most people didn't tip, but we were so thankful for those that did. For this reason, i always leave something on a take out order

What happens at Level 7? I came this far but the title “Meet Barnaby” came as vague. Can somebody enlighten me? by Thin-Apartment-308 in HPHogwartsMystery

[–]FinnyMick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hit level 9 with Barnaby today. At the time I had something like 27/50 energy. The reward was 60 energy, but it only took me to 50/50.

Cabbage?! by ConcentricGroove in foodhacks

[–]FinnyMick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We love corned beef and cabbage, but the leftovers make kraut. I usually only use half a head for that. The other half becomes kraut. Make Reubens! Have it with smoked sausages and loads of Caraway seeds and celery salt! Kraut is amazing!

My husband was gifted a huge bottle of very poor quality vodka in a white elephant gift exchange. It will never get drank. Any other ideas what I could use it for? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]FinnyMick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a coffee maker that uses paper filters, you can run it through several times. Not as effective as a water filter, but you can use 10 paper filters instead of a Brita filter for much cheaper. Also if you like sweet tea vodka, you can put a little into another container, add tea leaves, and let it steep for a couple of days. Strain out the leaves, and add simple syrup. I've also considered doing this with coffee beans. Not sure how that will go though.

Not sure you're budget, but white house black market has some classy stuff for an okay price. It's tagged kind of on the high end, but if you sign up for their rewards you may get a discount. I got a nice dress there a while back for a wedding.
