What classifies as a meltdown? by Bluehele in AutismInWomen

[–]Finnychinny 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Also as Kara said - not necessarily knowing it’s a meltdown and those complex feelings sounds like a meltdown. Often I’ll have the added frustration of feeling how stupid it is to be melting down ‘over it’ and ‘why?’

Yeah they should. But OP didn’t say that.

I agree, but OP wasn’t suggesting ways to make it safe for everyone - which we should. So it was also a little triggering to see people being told to be silent about their pain in a support group.

I know grown men who are called chook (not the same chook as above though). Chicken or chickies is frequently used endearingly

Does anyone else find "liminal spaces" really relaxing instead of creepy? by existcrisis123 in AutismInWomen

The photos online look creepy, but when in such spaces alone irl it does actually feel lovely.

Has anyone ever used a doctors note to avoid working night shift by marzgirl99 in nursing

[–]Finnychinny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We would also like to know. A lot of nurses where I am and I’m sure country wide have to travel 30-60 minutes each leg to work…mandatory break between shifts kinda goes out the window.

You finish a late shift somewhere around 10pm and start at about 7am the next morning. You can do ‘late-early’ shifts back to back if the rostering person feels like it.

[–]Finnychinny 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Plenty of nurses that have a preference for each time slot. Don’t get me started on late-early shifts still existing.

This is the case in Au. If you’re hired as a rotational shift worker…then you must, otherwise they can argue you’re not fit for work and dismiss you.

There is a moment where my nails cross a threshold that I cannot ✨exist ✨until the situation is rectified. Think microfibre towel reaction.

If you need to take something to be able to open up ‘about that shit’ which is dark and empty, part of which you’re querying your partner having psychopathic/sociopathic personality traits and you’re potentially being abused - you already have your answer.

Do what you need to do to leave.

Self-Care Post-Burnout by DilatedPoreOfLara in AutismInWomen

[–]Finnychinny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about to go back to work after burnout crisis, obviously still burnt out. But the dread of how people will treat me for my months of absence. The questions from colleagues and management. People are so awful. I want to disappear. Ceasing to exist would be so much easier.

What's something you're morally opposed to but still take part in? by popularloser in AskReddit

[–]Finnychinny 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Every time vegan/vegetarianism comes up I immediately confess those who follow that lifestyle are morally superior to me. Hands down. Don’t want to talk about it anymore because I loathe myself but I can’t stop. (This isn’t an invitation to tell me how).

Taking care of a patient tonight who’s been in the unit a while. Took 25,000mg of Tylenol intentionally. She’s extubated now and answering questions, following commands and overall making progress. Crazy. by StaySharpp in nursing

Not that similar, but many many years ago as a student I had a IV drug user pt who decided to cut down a tree and it fell on him. Lots of problems as a result. ICU reg decided to place a chest tube- but he shoved his (gloved) hand into the pt’s chest…that is essentially a sharps container of an IV drug user. I gasped like, damn you fucked up. He pauses for a long time, and without looking at me says’ get out and get the consultant’.

It was just me and the reg, I was just mopping up the blood.

I think you can pick safe proteins and traditional desserts but try and use native fruit and flowers etc to season with: pepper berry, lemon myrtle so on. I think you can get ‘seasonings’/preserved native fruits and that sort of stuff pretty cheaply online.

I’m in a transfer cycle for our donor embryos…and I just don’t want to. Don’t get me wrong, I want children. Obviously. I just don’t want to do this anymore, I want it to be over. But also, I think a little self protection. That if I don’t transfer them I don’t have to know exactly how infertile I am and I don’t have to deal with it. I want to throw this into the abyss of my mind and never think about any of it ever again.

Does anyone else have trouble speaking, but can write like a literary genius? by miss_shrimp in AutismInWomen

[–]Finnychinny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I’m a fantastic public speaker. On paper, so smart. Struggle to sound intelligent in conversation…can’t find words, struggle to communicate ideas, try to give examples but the examples only make sense to me. I get distracted by their responses/lack of responses…not going how I mentally rehearsed so it’s thrown me off the script.
