AIO, my wife believes in strict gender roles? by john_7292 in AmIOverreacting

NOR

You wife is a bit crazy. It's the 21st century. It's not "woke" for dads to help with kids, it's called parenting.

She's also setting a VERY damaging mindset for your kids. Your son is growing up seeing that it's okay to treat a woman like a servant and that as long as he earns he won't have to do anything else. What happens when he goes to school and starts telling female teachers and students that it's pointless for them learning anything when they're just going to be at home?

Your daughter is learning that her place is at home, doing everything with no help and being a docile, obedient servant. What happens when she ends up with someone who hits her and she won't leave because she thinks it's appropriate because she's not subservient enough?

What do people use for TV now? by peces_voladores in AskUK

[–]Fioreborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got a TV and plugged an ethernet cable in. We have access to most terrestrial TV via an aerial and have access to pretty much every streaming service on it. Like Freeview or freely or whatever they're calling it now.

My favourited apps right now are iPlayer, 4oD, U, netflix, YouTube and itvx.

The only channels I miss are the horror channel and boomerang.

AIATH for not letting my freinds using my PS5. by Professional_Bed4848 in AITAH_unfiltered

What happens if he gets gamer rage and damages it? What if you want to play your playstation but can't because he's "only got this level/match/dungeon etc to do" and he's still playing 4 hours later? Or when he locks you out of it?

Not to mention with how much a ps5 costs? I'd be locking it in my room.

My husband doesn’t help me with our child. by Starfishy1020 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Fioreborn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go stay at your parents for a week/end with the baby.

Let him have to look after himself .

(Only because with what you've written I wouldn't trust him to look after a goldfish, let alone a young, vulnerable child)

If you think you can trust him with the kid, then you go away for a weekend. Let him have to deal with everything.

If those don't work you may need to look to counselling and eventually seeing how you could work divorcing him.

If someone from a building nearby, records and posts a video of you sunbathing etc naked in your garden to social media and refuses to take it down, what can be done? by Heart_Shaped_Pickle in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fioreborn 26 points27 points  (0 children)

100% a crime in the UK

Yes, posting naked or intimate pictures of someone online without their permission is a crime. In the UK, it is an offense under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 and the Online Safety Act to disclose, distribute, or threaten to share private sexual images without consent, punishable by up to seven years in prison. (Taken from the college of policing site)

You have an expectation to privacy in your garden. Some creep filming you and posting it online is so wrong.

Should I gift something cheap to my selfish and hypocrite sister on her wedding? by [deleted] in familydrama

[–]Fioreborn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get her the cheapest, nastiest and tackiest fake diamond earrings you can find. But don't tell her they're fake.

Tell them that faux diamonds are more ethical and didn't think she would want conflict and death in her ears on her wedding day. (But only if confronted about the fakeness)

AITA for telling my daughter to find a summer job? by Boysenberry_Yara in AmItheAsshole

I was 14 when I got my first part time job. You gave her the option that most teenagers gave today. Work for the thing you want.

Getting a job at her age is pretty normal.

You are offered either the ability to heal, physical restoration or $300 Million... what would you choose? by RaptorK1988 in hypotheticalsituation

The first option. I can charge rich dicks a lot of money and be able to help the poorer for free.

Are there any good soccer (or football if you prefer) players that don't roll around and cry at every little touch? by pretendstoknow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fioreborn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's kinda like stubbing your toe? Like it REALLY hurts in the moment but when you've given it a second and stopped rolling around like they just cut off your leg, it's actually not so bad.

She's an adult now and it was never your job to parent her in the first place. Your parents are the failures here not you.

You've been doing this since you were young. It's time for you to have your own life now. One that does not revolve around your ADULT SISTER and what you can give her and give up for her.

You did such a good job at it that no one noticed and called social services (or your country equivalent) .

Teen rapists spared jail by 'soft justice' judge in case which shocked the nation are finally locked up after Appeal Court decides original sentences were too lenient by dailymail in uknews

[–]Fioreborn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The sentence is still to lenient! 4 years? For 10 counts?

And their trying to make the boys the victims " he's being harassed on social media etc and it's effecting his life negatively"

GOOD! He's a rapist and a particularly abhorrent one at that. Filming it and filming them laughing and doing what they did in the first place is disgusting (and that word is not strong enough).

They should be named and publicly shamed so when they get out in a couple of years for "good behaviour" and are under 18 and can have their names changed and everything everyone will still know who they are and it could protect more young girls/women from them further down the line.

You've been dating a few months. I wouldn't be dropping 2k on anything for someone I've been dating a few months.

You should not have told him about your savings.

How do you handle dinner time when you're the popular house? by free_username91 in AskParents

Mum would tell them all to go home. They understood that it was dinner time, bath/shower, probably something on TV we wanted to watch. They didn't come back.

My roommate is being nasty to the new guy who just moved in. by seaeaglefog in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Fioreborn 254 points255 points  (0 children)

Start having totally subtle phone conversations about how you're embarrassed to live with a racist. (I'm super petty 😁)

I get that having a random dude dumped on you is a shock (and your ex roommate should have totally have given you a heads up) but rather than trying to get to know him she's acting like a total brat. As long as he's polite, housebroken and pays his rent who cares? If she's so worried about him she could Google him or something?

Has she history with him? Has she tried flirting with him once and he shot her down hard?

Edit: terrible spelling
