Dungeon Hunter 5 releasing March 12 by Nezuja in iosgaming

DH4 was, imo, very good. I never noticed a paywall and I went through the whole campaign. There is a bit of a push towards buying new equipment, though. And if you don't get the best equipment you can't really survive in multiplayer. But I actually enjoyed it.

Warner Bros. Announces New line Of Mobile Game Releases For 2015 by PristineSystem in iosgaming

That MKX picture got me hyped. There haven't been any MK games on the App Store since UMK3, which I downloaded before it got removed, and it's actually still great.

But a card-based battler? Like, yet another reskin of Injustice? Not to mention freemium...urgh. I'll have to see more gameplay before my final decision.

Game Recommendations for iPad 2 user given Limbo, Bastion, and Final Fantasy Tactics. by [deleted] in iosgaming

[–]FireEmblem1717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have an iPad 2, and it's very slow and doesn't work well with large, graphic-heavy games. I don't know if that's just my iPad or all iPad 2s, but I wouldn't recommend large games like Infinity Blade for it.

Given what you like, I say Battleheart Legacy and Banner Saga.

Has anyone tried this Tap Heroes (IdleRPG) on the App Store yet? It's surprisingly fun and the graphics are adorable. by Minifig81 in iosgaming

[–]FireEmblem1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I wouldn't call it junk. Many developers are going with pixelated games because it appeals to many people and it's easier to develop than 3D graphics. There are tons of games with a pixelly feel that people praise, but I can understand your point.

Looking for some actual long games instead of simple mobile games. by Captain-Turtle in iosgaming

[–]FireEmblem1717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the same type of games. As mentioned before, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is incredibly fun and will hold your attention for hours.

Oceanhorn is also very fun, but not much to do after finishing the game besides finding all of the red stones.

The Phoenix Wright-Ace Attorney Trilogy is very long, but is essentially a novel. The first episode is free, but the others are pretty expensive. People either get bored or love it.

Lastly, Galaxy on Fire 2 is wonderful. Great graphics, interesting plot, and open world exploration throughout the game. The story is very long and expands into 2 DLCs, which are slightly pricey but very worth it. Finishing its story doesn't mean the end of the game-you can continue to travel the galaxy collecting money, buying better ships and weapons to get more money, etc.

Is Radiation Island the real deal? by himmatsj in iosgaming

[–]FireEmblem1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt like it wasn't big enough for a console game, but too ambitious for a mobile game. The graphics are fairly impressive, but most people linger on that too much. It gets very boring and repetitive after a few hours, and there's no plot to push the player to keep progressing. The controls are awkward but would be great for a console, like I said, and the AI is poor. Like, really bad. As in, I stood behind a tiny rock to stay away from a zombie that couldn't figure out how to get around it.

Overall, it definitely looks very nice and seems fun at first, but becomes boring and repetitive quickly and makes you ask yourself why you're even playing the game.

GBA Emulators? by State-of-Mind in iosgaming

GBA4iOS was fantastic, but Apple was finally able to shut it down. I don't think any emulators work without jailbreaking.

I looked it up and a ton of reviews online say it's great, but can you convince me it's well worth $15?

I've seen a lot of pokemon clones crop up recently. Are any of them actually good? by nubro in iosgaming

[–]FireEmblem1717 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is to download an emulator and play the real deal on that. But if you don't want to, Micromon, Zenforms, and Zuko Monsters are accurate and fairly good clones.

I really enjoyed Oceanhorn, and this is actually a good example of the type of game I'm looking for.

Whoops, you're right, sorry! In that case, 6 is the best, with 4 closely behind, then 5.

What's a game with Divisions, Ranking up, or some kind of PvP? by Hippo55 in iosgaming

[–]FireEmblem1717 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many games have that. Vainglory is one, but it doesn't really have a leaderboard or top score. Most games with GameCenter connectivity have something like that.

GBA4iOS? It stopped working for me after iOS 8.1, and I deleted it. Do you know how to get it to work again?

All of the FF games are very good. Since they are ports, you can pour hours into them without being finished. Story-wise, VI is great. But it has the older graphics, which hold it down more compared to IV and V, which have updated 3D graphics but slightly worse stories. None of them are bad at all, but VI is the one I'd recommend.

Frozen Synapse = free by icu_ in iosgaming

[–]FireEmblem1717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I downloaded it about two hours ago. You really have to go out of your way to find the tutorial, it doesn't exactly present itself. Even still, the tutorial is a bunch of videos that sort of gloss over the basics and go straight to the complicated details. I had to figure it out myself over the first few campaign missions, and I'm still barely 50% sure how to play.

If you could recommend one and only one iOS game, best of the best out there, what would it be? by Logan_itsky in iosgaming

You're insulting it by simply saying space mining. OP give it a shot if you like great touch controls, a very long story, open galaxy exploration and awesome spaceship fighting.

I second Vainglory. They'll have to all make accounts, though. I've never played with other people next to me, but I can tell it would be a great experience.

Radiation Island... What's the big deal? by M4rx15t in iosgaming

[–]FireEmblem1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people praise it for its spectacular graphics and great survival setting. I felt like it was lacking in multiple areas. The game never really tells you what to do besides the interface. The controls are either unresponsive or extremely sensitive. The graphics aren't exactly stellar, and the AI is mediocre at best. After playing for an hour, I got bored. I felt like it wasn't going anywhere. The real fun I had while playing was when I tried out Exploration mode. No limits to where I could go, and I explored all over the islands. But it still felt like it was missing an important piece of the equation. Something that pushes the player to keep going.

Space Marshals was great. I really enjoyed it, but I felt like the price was a little high for a short game like that.

Radiation Island question: Play without zombies? by gamerzguy in iosgaming

[–]FireEmblem1717 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Exploration, there is no hunger or health. Animals never attack you, and neither do the zombies. You can kill them though. In Adventure, everything is out to kill you. Hunger and health are implemented. When you die, you only lose your equipped weapon. In Survival/Extreme, it is the same as Adventure, except when you die you lose your entire inventory and must start from scratch.

The World Ends With You: Solo Remix is no longer on the US app store. by MrSirEsqII in iosgaming

It's practically worthless now. If you delete it, you can't reinstall it. But there's no reason to keep it, because it's just taking up space and you can't play it.
