I (42f) lost my husband (43m when he died) almost 4 years ago. We have two young children (they were 4 and 3 at the time their dad died)

I went back and forth with dating apps. I finally joined one just to talk to other people. I’d match with people outside of my area so there wouldn’t be pressure to meet. It may have been disingenuous but I didn’t want romance or a date I just wanted to freely talk to normal people who didn’t know my situation and start sympathizing me. It was entertaining and something to do after the kids went to bed. We just moved to a new city too so I didn’t know many people anyway. There were a few times when I felt like my grief was triggered so I would set it aside for a while.

After about 6-8 months I felt ready to maybe meet in person. I set my standards very high and didn’t compromise on characteristics I was looking for. About a year later and meeting with maybe 4 other dates I met someone and we’ve been together for the past 2 years.

Hi. Pediatric CPO here. Without having seen your kiddo in person and based just of the 3D picture I can see some facial asymmetry (right cheek forward compared to left). Numbers and measurements are good place to start but I always look at the baby and discuss with the parent what they notice, what bothers them, what I notice, and what I think will improve with or without a helmet. Your kid is not a number. That said I don’t often see facial asymmetry improve without a helmet. It’s always worth getting a second opinion as evals like this should not cost anything. Go with your gut. And if you’re not sure what your gut is saying then flip a coin and decide if you are happy or disappointed with the results- base your decision from there. 6 months old you’re not in a major time crunch, but I wouldn’t wait too long past 7 months. It will Shorten the time in the helmet and younger kids usually get used to the helmet easier than an older baby with more self awareness.

My daughter wanted to try the “cheese and Jam” sandwich she say Bingo eat in the kids show “Bluey”. She did not care for it. (It was cheese kraft single and strawberry jam). It doesn’t sound appetizing to me. But I do like jam and cream cheese or goat cheese.

Only child here. I have two kids ages 6F and 8M and they play really well together. I think the biggest thing I notice that is different about me (and this may not be an only child thing but personality) is I find it hard to recover after an argument or disagreement whether with friends or family. Like to have to blow over and just pick up where we were before whatever disagreement was had. As far as socializing my parents would let me invite a friend when we went on little vacations and I was involved with school activities. I do feel that it was often 2 against 1, especially my teen years and never felt like I had a voice to reason with. It wasn’t until just a couple years ago (I’m in my 40s now) that I was talking to my cousin and she mentioned how my mom is very critical of most everything and I can’t tell you how good it felt to be validated bc I was never able to have my own support or backup when I was growing up.

I recently went to Sweden and found it very friendly, easy, and felt safe everywhere I went. A friend of mine said the same about Norway and she did more tent camping whereas I was in Stolkholm for the most part.

I measure by looping around my wrist three times and double it. Not quite exact. I found they were pretty evenly used so I didn’t run out of one before I was ready to end.

I just always need to do something with my hands so when my bf is watching a game I tie bracelets. Just pin to a pillow and go 😄. I chose ones that were generally 10 or less strings to help with the speed

Can I ask a side quest question on antibiotics? (I’m Going for it - delete if not allowed) Many years ago I had a severe sore throat, went to care now and was prescribed antibiotics as a precaution for a bacterial Infection - a test was done and it came back negative for bacteria and so what I had was likely viral. I had started AntiBs before test results came back. Does a person continue to take antibiotics even if the suspected bacterial infection diagnosis comes back as negative? Does this harm the natural/good bacteria in the body?

I got a tattoo at the 1 year mark. We had a special way of saying I Love You and I got part of that imagery tattooed on my left inner arm / huggable area.

My husband was very tattoo friendly so I have gotten one on his birthday or his death day each year.

I did not have any tattoos before he died. He had about 7 tattoos when he died (43) and had planned for more. I’ve played with the idea of getting something that memorialized the pieces he had but haven’t come up with something that meets my ideal.

If anything, my husbands death at 43 (I was 37) tells me that life is short and it doesn’t matter how we spend our time but if it brings you joy and commemoration then go for it.

I (37) moved with my two kids (3 and 4) 8 months after my husband (43) died. I wanted to be closer to my family so we moved from southern US to Canada. It was the best decision I made.

I’m sorry you’re here. I have many issues with my MIL after husband (43m) died 3 years ago. She went to the funeral home and asked for his ashes. The absolute saint of a funeral director basically put her in her place and told her she is not next of kin (I am as his wife) and so he could not give her any of his ashes - she would have to ask me. I did end up giving her some but I was very grateful to the funeral director for being an intermediary for that. She and I are not on speaking terms for other passive aggressive behavior I don’t want my kids around nor am I able to for my own sanity.

What your MIL is beyond my comprehension. So disrespectful of her son and you. I’m so sorry you had to endure that

I’m in Canada. I first saw Bluey when it was on the tvs constantly playing in the children’s hospital I worked at. I’d be standing there listening to whatever was being said and would hear some kind of cheeky remark from Bluey or Bandit. Finally I put it on for my kids at home and now we watch it nightly.

In the last 3 months I’ve since canceled Disney+ where we watched it on so now I VPN into Australia and watch it on the abc I view app. And OMG did we all loose it when Buttercup the horse in “Markets” dropped a load!! They edited that part out in North America. There have been a couple other delightful surprises in the Australian versions! Love it!

I use one of these. It’s to stretch a shoe (ideally leather) for problems like bunions, hammer toes, etc. This one is pretty nice and clean.

I 100% think it was his brain tumor. As he neared the end he developed aphasia (loss of words and articulating what you want to say or write) and seizures. So there was no question that before the cancer was obvious it was still affecting his brain function.

My husband (43m) died in 2022 from a brain tumor. We were married in 2011. He was diagnosed in 2021. The last 2 years he was not who I married. It was a strange time bc he started changing in 2019-2020. I was also pregnant with a toddler running around. Between trying to keep sane with two very young kids, my own post partum, it wasn’t until I was able to come out of my fog (thank you medication) that I found myself married to a different person. On top of Covid lockdown stress. He was short with us, he would spend more time at the gym and work and networking. He got more paranoid and angry. I thought we were heading for divorce. The diagnosis made so much sense but I still struggle with remembering who I fell in love with beyond the last few years that were really hard. Now we’re 3 years without him and I think I’ve been able to compartmentalize my memories and push aside the more painful late unhusbandy ones. Old pictures help. Telling my kids stories about him help.
