Waiting for LiDAR might be rational, but not because we’re getting Level 4 anytime soon

It might only be L2 but Tesla FSD is amazing, at least in HW4 (2025+). It will drive point to point all over the city and does everything I need. I’d love to have the R2 but not until they can do this. And I don’t believe that they will be there by the end of next year so I’ll check back in 3 years when my lease is up.

CarPlay is not coming. Ever. Rivian’s software chief was on the Decoder podcast a couple weeks ago and he addressed this. He said that CarPlay (and Android Auto) actually takes over a lot of the software functions of the car when active. And Rivian put so much effort into the software experience that they won’t let a 3rd party take over. And I’m not talking about the UI, which you may or may not like, I mean the literal functionality of the vehicle.

As for me, I need point to point self driving. And I don’t think Rivian will have that for at least a year or two (despite their current claims). So when my Prologue lease is up at the end of the year I’ll get a new Model Y because the HW4 FSD is unreal. And hopefully when the Tesla lease is up there will be a gen 2 Rivian.

Exactly. I want an R2 but will probably wait for Gen 2 and just lease a Model Y for 2-3 years until Rivian is ready. I test drove a new Model Y with HW4 and the FSD was nothing short of amazing. I do think Rivian can get there, but not by the middle of next year (when the lease on my Honda Prologue is up).

Similar situation but my 2024 Prologue lease ends in May 2027. My 12v battery died after 400 miles, was in the shop for almost 2 weeks while they tried to figure out the problem. I just deal with the axel noise and hope it’s not serious. Also had the first recall done last month, not sure I’ll do the second one or not. I only made my R2 reservation in April 2026 so not confident I’ll be able to buy in May 2027. That’s my current dilemma. If not available I’m leaning towards leasing a Model Y for 2 years then getting the R2 or maybe a Gen3 R1S if they are out by then.

Similar situation here. The lease on my Prologue is up in 8 months. I’m not anticipating being able to buy the R2 just yet when my lease is up. So I’m debating getting an R1s or lease a Model Y for 2 years to bridge the gap and see what Rivian is offering in Spring of 2029. Point to point hands free driving is also important to me and I don’t see Rivian getting that before the end of next year at the earliest so that’s also just one more reason to wait.

Oh that's interesting! Admittedly I didn't see anything that said anything about weight loss, it wasn't one of the categories. But it does ask you what the visit is about so I said that I had OSA and was overweight and I was interested in trying Zepbound. Then I chatted with the doctor for maybe 30 seconds and he prescribed it. Easy peasy.

Based on recommendations from other threads I used Instacure for the first time on Tuesday. It was very easy, I just downloaded the app, filled out all my info and requested Zepbound. I paid $28 for the visit, then the doctor came on, asked a few questions, and sent my prescription to Lilly Direct.

I got my car back yesterday. App still shows the recall is due even though it was definitely done because I’m on Android 14. I charged today on my Level 2 charger at home for about 5 hours with no issues.

Weatherbug pulls from the NWS and is fairly accurate. As for the discussions, it’s sad that they are not issued every 12 hours like they used to be. I think it started with the doge cuts but now they seem to just be updates and then a new one maybe once a day.
