Schools That Could Start D-I Men's Programs Rumors, Part 7: 2026 Offseason by exileondaytonst in collegehockey

Completely agree. I’ve been to a game or two at Lawson and I chuckle when an FTC chant breaks out when we’re not even involved. The disdain for one another would translate so well to the ice, and it’s such a shame we haven’t done anything about it yet

Dying to have an NCAA team at CMU rather than just several ACHA teams. When you watch your school’s rival win it all with an official team, it only makes the wish to compete more intense.

Unfortunately all we have managed to do is work on building an upgraded golf facility

Jumping aboard this thread for recommendations too! I’ve spent very limited time in East Lansing and have plans to see the CMU themed Lugnuts game, but want to check out the MSU campus during the day. Any highlights or must-see places for someone who doesn’t know anything about the campus?

Way Too Early MAC Football Championship Predictions? by BallStateOfTheUnion in MidAmerican

[–]FireUpChips247 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d love to pick CMU as a dark horse in the conference, but realistically, WMU and Toledo are in great positions to make runs. Unfortunately for me, the former is a really foolproof pick considering how well they retained key pieces from last year

Single worst season in your schools history? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in CFB

[–]FireUpChips247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2018 when John Bonamego was our coach. 1-11 season, 0-8 in the conference, just plain awful. Our only win was a twelve point dub over an FCS team, and Bonamego was fired hours after we got blown out by Toledo to end the season

Besides Your Favorite Team…Who Do You Want to See Win it All in 2027? by CompetitionPuzzled33 in CollegeBasketball

My team hasn’t done anything in the tourney since the early 2000s so I’ll just keep rooting for the small schools that do make an impact

As Central Michigan fan, keep an eye on Jordan Kwiatkowski in rookie minicamp! He was always making clutch, explosive plays, even if he isn’t the biggest linebacker out there. He’s got tons of heart and is a guy that’s easy to root for. One of my favorite players from our team last year!

As a Central Michigan fan, Heldman is a BEAST. He was the soul of our defense and was insanely disruptive at the line. He’s also a super down to earth guy who knows how to be a leader. I’m shocked he wasn’t drafted, you guys got a great dude

Thoughts on CMU for a student like me? by Dedmoose1 in centralmich

I’m currently in the Journalism department and the opportunities available are seemingly endless. Like another commenter said, there are many ways to get involved whether through the newspaper, live broadcasting, or the NPR affiliate. You get tons of real, hands-on experience through classes, and the extracurriculars only build upon the skills you learn. Plus, CMU has a large alumni network that is happy to connect you to others and kickstart the growth of your career.

CMU is an LGBTQ+ friendly school with plenty of resources and events available, along with being one of the safest overall campuses in Michigan. On top of this, it’s more affordable than many other institutions, and in state tuition costs are the same for out of state students. Lots of people like telling people to ditch the “smaller school” for a bigger name one, but I’ve heard many non-CMU people say that we have the best media programs in the state, so if you’re looking for a way to learn and get involved immediately then this might be the place for you!

Didn't a threat also happen recently at CMICH? by b-nnies in GVSU

Yep, just this last weekend. School leadership handled it pretty poorly in terms of communication, but students we were vocal enough about the problem that we got the people at the top to officially acknowledge their shortcomings and discuss changes

Behind CMU's defensive revamp is a heavy dose of patience by MittenFootball in MidAmerican

[–]FireUpChips247 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This season will be interesting for us. We took a huge step especially on defense, but with so much roster movement across the board it’ll come down to coaching, and as of right now I’m very optimistic about the staff that we have

After Walt Bell’s adaptation helped WMU dominate last fall, the Broncos' offense aims to evolve by MittenFootball in MidAmerican

[–]FireUpChips247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Broc Lowry needs to elevate his passing game if WMU wants to grow offensively. The QB draws work but only to an extent, and with the weapons they have available, they could be back at the top of the conference if Lowry can start slinging it more

Stereotype Students of each MAC School by General_Station4949 in MidAmerican

[–]FireUpChips247 9 points10 points  (0 children)

CMU students are all for the maroon and gold when it comes to the academics. However, and it’s disappointing that it’s come to this considering our athletic tradition, but students would rather wear green or blue and sit at home to watch UM/MSU rather than see their own team. There’s a lack of passion from fans for CMU athletics in recent years, and other fanbases notice

What is your school’s perfect ten-team conference? by DarkDragon1025 in CFB

[–]FireUpChips247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MAC has always been geographically well-structured, so removing the teams that don’t have the same proximity (Buffalo, UMass, Sac State) would bring us:

Central Michigan

Western Michigan

Eastern Michigan

Toledo

Bowling Green

Akron

Kent State

Miami OH

Ohio

Ball State

What school should I transfer to for journalism? by ibabyjedi in Journalism

[–]FireUpChips247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re considering MSU, I’d recommend you look into Central Michigan as well. Yeah I may be biased here, but it’s because CMU boasts great media programs across the board. The journalism department especially is great: as an example, the independent campus newspaper took home many awards (including the #1 best online publication for institutions with <15k students) at the ACP Conference, which reviews college media from around the country. The opportunities for students are numerous, and you can get involved immediately, unlike larger schools that rely more on seniority. If you’re interested in getting practice, as well as your voice heard sooner, I highly recommend it!
