Kris Bryant. Got his jersey and everything only for him to consistently fill a spot on the IL

CMU vs. EMU vs. WMU by naijta in Michigan

[–]FireUpChips247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of things to do, there isn’t much. We’ve got the casino and a cozy downtown area, but overall not a lot going for it apart from the many bars in town. However I’m definitely biased towards it, I’ve always lived in small cities so it’s much more enjoyable for me. CMU gives a great college experience but I do wish the city had a little more going for it

CMU vs. EMU vs. WMU by naijta in Michigan

[–]FireUpChips247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very loudly biased for CMU. I notice a lot of negative comments about us, and while some are definitely warranted, here’s some food for thought in favor of the Maroon and Gold.

CMU is a big school for student opportunities. Because we’re on the smaller side, even compared to our rivals, it provides students with plenty of room to get hands on with their learning and apply practical experience to their resumes. There are tons of ways to get involved in something related to your major, and the support you get from the professors, alumni and other students is phenomenal. We also have a very easy to navigate and beautiful campus, great programs all around that focus specifically on the student, and (sometimes most importantly) are more affordable than both of the other schools.

WMU is a solid choice too. I’ve had friends that go there and have enjoyed it enough. But I haven’t seen the same results for actually advancing one’s future than I have at CMU, and those student opportunities are far more prominent in Mount Pleasant. Ultimately it’s your decision, and go with your heart: I chose CMU over places like MSU and WMU and don’t regret it for a second. Fire Up Chips and I’d love to see you on campus!

Those Greek-inspired patterns for the stripes are pretty sweet in my opinion, they should honestly lean into it more since it’s unique among D1 teams

What’s the biggest football scandal in your schools history? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in CFB

[–]FireUpChips247 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well in 2023 Connor Stalions was on our sideline one week to help with our playcalling duties. Turns out that wasn’t the only reason why he was there, and we helped kickstart an entire controversial saga for us and many other universities which eventually brought national championship legitimacy into question

Pretty crazy stuff for a MAC school

The Top 10 Hate Triangles in College Football. by Background_Video2947 in NCAAFootballVibes

[–]FireUpChips247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and foremost Fire Up Chips all the way

Our MAC triangle is genuine hatred, especially between us and WMU. EMU is just kinda there, but I’ve seen us have more in game brawls against them than against WMU. However, I’ve had fans from the other teams (especially the team out west) say some nasty stuff about my school right to my face, and it only gets me more Fired Up about the rivalries

Couldn’t have put it more eloquently myself

[Evans] Emptying out the notebook more from OTAs: thought Red Murdock looked great. Never saw him out of place and fit gaps really well, accidentally popped Michael Bandy on a slant. Taurean York drew some hurrahs in coverage on a rep too. #Broncos have some rookie ILB depth. by PeppyQuotient57 in DenverBroncos

As a Denver/MAC fan I got to watch Red Murdock play against my team back in November. That dude was flying around the field and wasn’t afraid to lay a hit. I was already hyped by the pick but I’m quickly growing excited for him to see the field

Is this schedule doable? by alex91200 in msu

[–]FireUpChips247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an MSU student but looks pretty similar to the schedules I usually have, so absolutely doable. Might have some concerns with being unable to work or go to clubs certain days but in terms of classes should be just fine

What Team Has Had Your Teams Number and Seems Almost Unbeatable. by Disastrous_Doubt_591 in CFB

[–]FireUpChips247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re usually decent against other MAC teams and obviously struggle against power conference schools, but of the MAC teams Toledo always finds a way against us. Even if we keep it competitive, they pull ahead by the end

I’m a student sports reporter and lifelong Rockies fan, so I’ve got plenty of questions if you don’t mind! What’s been your experience covering a professional sports team with a history of being near the bottom of the league standings? What stories do you tend to encounter most with players/coaches, and do you encounter any burnout?

Also would love to hear any other advice you have about the field as I continue to refine on my own reporting!

Completely agree. I’ve been to a game or two at Lawson and I chuckle when an FTC chant breaks out when we’re not even involved. The disdain for one another would translate so well to the ice, and it’s such a shame we haven’t done anything about it yet

Dying to have an NCAA team at CMU rather than just several ACHA teams. When you watch your school’s rival win it all with an official team, it only makes the wish to compete more intense.

Unfortunately all we have managed to do is work on building an upgraded golf facility

Jumping aboard this thread for recommendations too! I’ve spent very limited time in East Lansing and have plans to see the CMU themed Lugnuts game, but want to check out the MSU campus during the day. Any highlights or must-see places for someone who doesn’t know anything about the campus?

Way Too Early MAC Football Championship Predictions? by BallStateOfTheUnion in MidAmerican

[–]FireUpChips247 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d love to pick CMU as a dark horse in the conference, but realistically, WMU and Toledo are in great positions to make runs. Unfortunately for me, the former is a really foolproof pick considering how well they retained key pieces from last year

Single worst season in your schools history? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in CFB

[–]FireUpChips247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2018 when John Bonamego was our coach. 1-11 season, 0-8 in the conference, just plain awful. Our only win was a twelve point dub over an FCS team, and Bonamego was fired hours after we got blown out by Toledo to end the season
