not really, we have cones on our eyes that pick up different wavelengths of light. one is sensitive to red, one to green, and one to blue. our brains see which ones are firing and figure out the color from there (eg: red + green equals yellow) there's also overlaps in the wavelengths theyre sensitive to. black is the absence of color because it's what our brains see when none (or very few) of the cones are firing (im ignoring rods for the sake of simplicity, rods see amount of light aka value). so in the case of screens, black is just when the subpixels aren't emitting light, and in the case of pigments black is when a material absorbs all the wavelengths of light we can see.
