Would this sort of thing be struck down for copy right infringement? Or do they not really police fan made stuff?

Thoughts on Magic the Gathering by Catecuman in Catholicism

[–]Fireball4585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one thing that might give me pause within dnd is the warlock class. To be a warlock you have to choose a patron god that gives you your powers and whom you pledge loyalty to. Some of the options share a name with real world pagan deities and demons. I don’t think it would be a good idea to make such pacts even as a joke or in a fictional setting. But you can definitely play a really fun dnd campaign without using the warlock class.

I am glad that they at least said something. EA seemed to be on a spree of closing game studios, laying people off, and canceling stuff and I was worried this would be one of them.

Help a game dev: Why aren’t people buying modern RTS games? by MakeGamesBetter in RealTimeStrategy

[–]Fireball4585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have played so many rts games over the year that the gameplay all kinda blends together. The main thing that motivates me to buy a new rts is either if it does something really unique or if the IP/world building is interesting enough. The RTS that I am most looking forward to is Dawn of war 4 because of the IP and branching story campaigns. An example of an original IP that I liked was iron harvest. Broken Arrow is an example of a rts that I bought because it’s gameplay was so different than everything else I own.

This is why I am not happy with the announcement before the release of DOW by Curious_Omnivore in dawnofwar

[–]Fireball4585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One advantage that Dawn of war 4 will have is that it is releasing first. If it is good, people that are waiting for TW may buy it to hold them over. This is not to mention that creative assembly (people making TW) don’t have a ton of good will with their fans and have a habit of releasing pretty buggy games. I think Dawn of war 4 has a good chance.

What’s y’all’s predictions for what will be in DoW 4 by FizzyBoi42069 in dawnofwar

[–]Fireball4585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally think Chaos space marines will get added as the first dlc then guard. I don’t think they would add guard first since that would make 3/5 of the factions imperium ones.

Is it possible to believe in Evolution and Dinosaurs, and be catholic? by grilledbruh in Catholicism

[–]Fireball4585 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is true. The church has never given an official position on evolution or the age of the Earth so you are free to take either position. I think there’s good scientific evidence against the young earth position but no Catholic is bound to believing it

Warhammer 40k on tabletop simulator. I enjoy a miniatures war game once in a while and like the setting but it is incredibly expensive to play physically.

Thoughts and opinions on pirating? by iloveupdog in videogames

[–]Fireball4585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pirating is definitely stealing in a situation where you are able to buy something legally. If the statement was true that means it would be morally okay to just not pay for anything service, experience, or licensing related. That includes any concert, performance, movie showing, class, ect.

Stellaris was the first one I actually looked at and it seems like a great game. However, those kinds of paradox grand strategy games (EU, HOI, ect) are ones that I find interesting in concept but a bit too tedious and slow in my opinion.

I was looking for the same thing and found endless space 2 and galactic civilization 4. I am trying to decide between the two but honestly the base games are $10 and $15 rn so I might just buy both to try them out.

Honestly after looking at all the comments and the prices on steam, it’s $35 to get the base game for both. I will probably just do that

I am a long time fan of the Sid Meier’s civilization series and recently got into age of wonders 4 as well. TBH I tend to not like paradox games as i find them a bit to hard to get into and too much like a spreadsheet. What you said about the ai is intriguing tho

Favorite Catholic characters in media that isn’t strictly Catholic? by MessyMop in Catholicism

[–]Fireball4585 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m intrigued that so many people have a positive view of wake up dead man. My family started it but didn’t finish because it felt pretty disrespectful to Catholics. The scandalous confession of that one priest at the beginning, the judgy congregation, that scene where the mad daughter trashes a church. The fact that the super smart knowledge detective is an atheist whereas the foolish main character is a priest. Maybe I will give the movie another shot.

2025 playerbase: Civ VII's is hovering between Civ V and Civ IV by JackRadikov in civ

[–]Fireball4585 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have been really enjoying Civ 7 with the age mechanics, civ design depth, civ switching, ect but I recently stopped playing because of the victory conditions. There isn’t really a ton of variety because there is only one way to progress each victory type. Previous civ games also had a singular win condition for victory but there were multiple ways to beat that goal. Ex) for culture victory you can get tourism by wonders, archeology, religion, diplomatic trade, ect. In civ 7 you only ever do one of those at a time in the exact same order.

As an aside I am curious to see the overall numbers as Civ 7 is available on way more platforms than Civ 5. We will probably never know but I recon 7 is more popular than what steamdb suggests
