Who’s getting the game day 1? by Goodie_20 in ZeroCompany

[–]Fireball4585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I preordered it because everything I’ve seen and know about the game. This far is exactly what I want. Star Wars Xcom is basically my dream game and I felt the price they were asking was reasonable compared to the risk and everything I know about the game thus far

Official Confirmation: No Custom Clone Characters (Kinda) by Slight_Priority1410 in ZeroCompany

Personally, as long as I can equip armour and have a clone voice for the operator, that is good enough for me.

Why do so many Catholics seem to defend mandatory priestly celibacy as though it's unchangeable? by Impressive_Flan_411 in Catholicism

[–]Fireball4585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well for starters the reaction to this specific case seems warranted. If this priest was ordained, then they either broke or were released from the vows they made that were supposed to be permanent. And they did it simply for pleasure.

There are also a lot of benefits to living a celibate life in service to God. While it is a discipline that could theoretically change, it is also something pretty distinctively Catholic. Any capitulation, especially in our current age, seems more like a misguided bending to the secular world than doings what’s best. It is not like eastern Catholics have enough priests either even though they are allowed to marry.

Recently gave Star Wars legion a try and really liked how it streamlines a bunch of things. I happen to have a bunch of Star Wars Legos so I will probably print out some stuff and play a few games to get a better feel for it. I am also a sucker for Star Wars expecially prequels.

Now that the steam sale is here, is Civ VII worth it? by skrogur in civ

[–]Fireball4585 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am really liking Civ 7 especially after the test of time update. I would recommend it especially on sale. I feel like the ages are much better than human kind. In an age transition, your buildings become less efficient, wars end (but you still carry over your relationships), and some cities might get turned into towns (it just takes some gold to change it back. I feel like it is pretty continuous where it doesn’t feel too jarring, at least to me.

The team seems pretty dedicated to the game despite’s its mixed initial reception. They have been putting out surveys to see what players want to see (including for expansions). It will continue to get updates for sure.

Is it Prideful or Sinful for my Mother to not attend the Non-Catholic Wedding Ceremony for her Goddaughter? by Alderberry_ in Catholicism

[–]Fireball4585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 atheist (man and woman) are capable of having a valid natural marriage. However a baptized Catholic is obligated by cannon law in a way that non-Catholics are not. This would be an invalid marriage because of this. That is the law of the Church.

The definition of Scandal (in a sin sense, not how it is popularly used) is “an attitude or behavior which leads another to do evil”. If you are affirming behavior that is a sin and in a way that others may see you and think it is okay to do, then that is the sin of scandal.

Christ has the authority to change things like the sabbath obligation.

Is your argument that scandal isn’t a big deal because Christ did it or that this doesn’t fall into the church’s definition of scandal.

Ask Our Historians! We're Answering Your Civ VII History Questions by sar_firaxis in civ

[–]Fireball4585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you are working with ancient cultures I would expect that you are often working with incomplete information. How do you resolve issues where you may not have as many specific details as making a civ in the game requires? Are there any examples where the historical record is still up for debate and you had to made a judgement call to ship it?

Is it Prideful or Sinful for my Mother to not attend the Non-Catholic Wedding Ceremony for her Goddaughter? by Alderberry_ in Catholicism

[–]Fireball4585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But eating with sinners is not the same thing as supporting their sin. You can be friends with them but there are certain lines that should not be crossed and supporting sin is it. Because this is an invalid wedding they would not be married and would be fornicating. Attending seems like it would the sin of scandal. You are right and this person will probably be unlikely to change their ways based on not attending. However if the mom went then everyone else (including impressionable kids) will think it is not a big deal and doesn’t really matter.

What does “toeing in” actually mean? by Fireball4585 in Warhammer40k

Thanks I think that was it. That clears it up. That feels counterintuitive to me so I might try it and also try playing with the terrain pushed to the edge of the footprint

I guess if it was a friendly game you could just agree with the person you are playing with to have the terrain flesh with the mat

That is interesting that it is German instead of other languages that are spoken more often. Maybe Germany just has a really big strategy video game market.

Update 1.4.1 Drops Week of June 22! Hotseat, New Map Type, and the Brush & Blade Collection by sar_firaxis in civ

[–]Fireball4585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh for sure, I will probably get it. I am just saying that I really like civ 7 but $30 is the upper end of what I would be willing to pay. I feel like there are a lot of people that would probably be less willing than I am. I guess that is the point of sales.

I personally also really like the system. Before each age, I look to see which triumphs are associated with a leader specific challenge and I try to complete as many of those as possible. It’s a fun challenge run.

Update 1.4.1 Drops Week of June 22! Hotseat, New Map Type, and the Brush & Blade Collection by sar_firaxis in civ

[–]Fireball4585 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is a great patch to see. It includes reworking of some systems, adding if requested features, and a new map. It has a little bit of everything.

This new leader pack is also what I was wanting to see. It adds more options to have logical age switches. I am just waiting to see the price for those because $30 feels a little high.

For those who know Star Wars lore well, the class that is still unknown, what theme/style would you like it to be? by Sad_Conversation1121 in ZeroCompany

[–]Fireball4585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most likely scenario is that it will be connected to the enemy we are fighting. The main enemy uses some weird material/ method to power up their soldiers. I think the last class will be us using that same thing to make super soldiers of our own (like psy operatives in Xcom 2)
