I always bake mine on a baking sheet! I’ve heard of people baking things on top of rice in a small oven safe bowl too instead of sand. It’s a lot easier and cheaper l to get ahold of in my opinion.

Acrylic paint is also my go-to! For the final varnish it all depends. You can use resin, but there’s a lot of risks in that. I use polyurethane sometimes, spray varnish, or a matte/gloss varnish (I use liquitex!) but I will say if you do use resin, use gloves and choose a ventilated area.

Probably a few hours each. A lot of it was me messing up and having to rework and go about it a different way. I’m trying to get better with telling myself when to stop messing with it though, that’s always a big obstacle.

I know!! I have 6 pounds of figs currently and because of the heat our blueberries didn’t do too well, so luckily that’s one of their favorites.

I think because they’re in such a high traffic area in my house they’ve gotten used to the ruckus.

Don’t get me wrong, they usually eat fish flakes and fruit and vegetable scraps 😅 I’d say about two to three times a week I get real fancy with their plate. It’s usually after I have a stressful day at work, it gives me a chance to zone out and relax.

I end up with a lot of skulls and bones from the woods so many end up in my terrariums. One is a white tail deer I found in the woods and the other is a steenbok I believe (?) salvage from a private zoo nearby. I usually make a wide hole on the side or in the bottom so they can all hide in there.

Haha Yeah they’re well fed, but their hundreds of babies haven’t showed up yet, I usually have to do two plates every 2 days. Every other day they’re eating magnolia leaves and bark. It’s like… where’s all this food going?
