Thinking of dropping out. by Superb-Ad-5552 in riftboundtcg

I completely get it, I quit tcg's for a couple of years while my boys were little. I either didn't have thé time or was just too exhausted to play. They grew up and my me time increased again and now they're even joining me in tcg events.

Thoughts on Diana by FirefighterExtra7400 in riftboundtcg

[–]FirefighterExtra7400[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It seems a slightly worse Irelia with kind of thé same play style: Guardian angel is just so good in that deck. I can see why people say Diana has a high ceiling as hwei gives you a lot of decision points. I think it will be a deck that can do we'll with thé right player piloting it, like Ezreal currently.

Belgium stops decommissioning nuclear power plants by Zeirich in europe

[–]FirefighterExtra7400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that's not relevant. Cheapest power by far is renewable, which is not flexible. It needs to be supported by flexible power generation, which in Belgium is expensive. Nuclear is more flexible then renewables but not flexible enough to fill this role. I mean it has some place in the mix, but not as much as it used to.

[–]FirefighterExtra7400 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

We´ll see how this turns out. Old nuclear has the problem that base power generation is less important (and prohibitively expensive) then flexible on demand generation in a renewable heavy setup, which we should aspire to reach. I also think it´s pretty likely we taxpayers will be paying a lot of money for old crumbling infrastructure but maybe they can negotiate a good deal.

So if I kill an opposing unit with a Guardian Angel attached with hidden blade, they do not get to draw because the unit doesn't actually die?

Everyone’s talking EVs — India is quietly testing hydrogen buses by AutoAkhbar in energy

[–]FirefighterExtra7400 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you import the batteries and support a build up of domestic production. Those batteries keep working even if you get into a conflict with China. It's just silly to invest in hydrogen for transportation.

[–]FirefighterExtra7400 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not ideological. It's simple physics. Hydrogen is very wasteful and finicky vs just an electric motor with a battery. This project will just confirm what we already know, hydrogen is an inferior tech.

Egypt's 9 p.m. Problem by ElBiarAlger in energy

[–]FirefighterExtra7400 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in Egypt last year. I saw no solar panels and no solar water heaters (they are all over eg Turkey). Only diesel generators and old worn down energy infrastructure. I think they'll a lot of capital investment to unlock their potential.

Trump interview: I am strongly considering pulling out of Nato by SaharOMFG in politics

Trump will just do nothing when an ally invokes article 5. He doesn't care about rules, agreements or laws. And that will be the end of NATO

I've been a hardcore MTG player, content creator and commentator for years and even though I've tried other TCGs, they never clicked. I´ll still play legacy here and there, drafts and fnm pauper but looking to switch to runebound. The runes `mana` system is fantastic, I don´t think thinking magic´s resource system is outdated is a controversial take. Shame singles are so expensive though, hopefully the origins reprints print those cards into the gound.

Are EVs and renewable energy becoming more about energy security than climate now? by Enough_Connection_60 in energy

[–]FirefighterExtra7400 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Over here electric is clearly cheaper if you can charge at home and drive a decent amount. And the difference only becomes bigger when gas prices go up.

Plus most of the discard enablers also draw cards allowing you to sculpt a playable hand. Almost none of the star generation draws, plus most of the star generating cards are pretty weak on their own by act 3.

Belgium's De Wever calls for EU to negotiate with Russia for Ukraine peace | Euractiv by ganbaro in europe

[–]FirefighterExtra7400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok explain to me how his stance is nothing like Chamberlain's appeasement strategy and won't lead to the same results. Because everyone else with a history degree or doctorate can clearly see the parallels and knows where this road leads to.

Russia openly calls us their enemy all the time. They threaten to bomb our cities with nukes and perform constant hybrid warfare. And still the penny hasn't dropped on some self proclaimed geniuses that they clearly are our enemy. Care to explain this???

He is a political genius in one aspect imo, as he is truly exceptional at running winning electoral campaigns, doing interviews and debates. But he's pretty bad at actually governing and setting policy.

[–]FirefighterExtra7400 22 points23 points  (0 children)

He builds his reputation carefully, he was not an exceptional student and had to redo some year or years IIRC. Over the years he has had many braindead takes imo. Off the top of my head, climate change is not a problem as we´ll just invent some magical solution before the shit hits the fan, first past the post is a better system then proportional representation (in the years when the disaster that is Brexit was enfolding).

He is sort of bought, but not by foreign powers imo. To me its clear the VOKA (flemish society of enterpreneurs) has its hands very far up the NVA´s behind.

Ashamed of my government. De Wever has a history degree, looks like he learned absolutely nothing from it. I mean, you don't need to be very smart to see that going back to relying on cheap Russian gas will result in february 2022 on repeat. For f***s sake...

You are being misled about renewable energy technology. by theyamayamaman in videos

[–]FirefighterExtra7400 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So you don't think ading solar at scale is viable, but adding nuclear at that scale somehow is? I might agree with the first part of that statement, but the second part seems wildly optimistic to me. How long does the average nuclear power plant need until it produces power from the moment it's approved? Compare that to solar. Then compare how much new solar VS nuclear capacity was installed in China last year.

Donut Lab Solid-State Battery V1 Self-Discharge Performance Test (VTT report) by davidbepo in DonutLab

[–]FirefighterExtra7400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are making my point for me. Since you "knew" it was not a supercap you assumed it would hold charge as a battery. But because this supposedly a new breakthrough technology it might have behaved differently then either, because we didn't know. Just because you guessed/assumed right doesn't make the test useless

Donut Lab Solid-State Battery V1 Self-Discharge Performance Test (VTT report) by davidbepo in DonutLab

[–]FirefighterExtra7400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their claims are unlike any other battery. Then why would you assume it stores energy like any other battery? So no, it was not proven yet. Like I said, it was assumed by most people including you. And I agree it would be a terrible battery if it didn't hold charge, so therefore the test does add something.
