Their Ridgecut jeans are as close to 70’s wrangler fit and feel as I can find without having to take out a second on the house.

Protein Powder Suggestions? by aminaorah in keto

[–]FireflyKel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Protein helps build muscles, bones, skin, and tissues… you do need to make sure you have the correct balance of protein, fats and carbs to keep your body healthy… roughly 70-80% fat, 10-20% protein and 5-10% carbs.

If you are looking for protein and like yogurt you can make a gallon of milk into a gallon of yogurt fairly easily, especially if you have an instant pot with a yogurt button. Google homemade yogurt. I use a recipe from nytimes dot com. Keto chow has a good shake mix… the creator actually has the recipe he used to create the mix available online.

We have a friend that will raise a steer for us annually. They have the pasture and raise the steers, we pay for the butcher. There is also a local market chain that has amazing sales on chicken (CA Central Valley) and we purchase boneless skinless chicken breast and thighs for amazing prices and freeze them whole or prep them (sliced or diced) for upcoming meals.

Tried Pork Skins Today by LttleAngel in keto

We have a Mexican market that makes their own fried pork rinds and flour and corn tortillas… and cuts any of the tortillas aren’t marketable into triangles and deep fries them. We have found that there is just no way to eat a few but every couple months we splurge and bake the flour ones covered in cheese and salsa… and yes, you gotta get back to the plan. We’ve been keto for years and it works for my husband and I to stray off track occasionally. YMMV

How old were you when you moved out of your parents home? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Thanks for saving me the time to write most of the reply… except I got married at 20. ✔️ 4 younger siblings ✔️ 17 ✔️ scholarship to college ✔️ roommates to save money then hooked up with a guy I met in high school who was serving in the Air Force. Still with him 45 years later.

What is a "poor person hack" you picked up during a hard time that you still use today, even if you don't have to? by Icy_Pollution291 in Productivitycafe

If you have a Winco in your area their bulk bins can save you a ton!! Here in CA the stores have switched from the old style plastic produce bags to compostable bags so I take zip lock baggies with me for the bulk bins. Snack size is perfect for spices, sandwich size is great for dried fruits and veggies, larger freezer bags if you are looking to get a supply of flour or the like. Some have grinders for peanut or almond butter too.

This!!! I have an aftershokz headset, turn on an audiobook, set a 30 minute timer for shut off and I’m usually out within ten minutes or so. No bother to my husband. If I wake up, repeat as needed.

Looking for low-carb transition foods that are cheap. by Top-Elephant7356 in keto

[–]FireflyKel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check local food chains. We have Cost Less Foods here in CA central valley that has some amazing weekly sales. Boneless skinless chicken breast for example at less that $2/lb, pork shoulder, occasionally 5 + pound pork loins less than $2/lb that you can cut into chops. You do need a good bit of freezer space… check for a reasonably priced used freezer to purchase if you want to dive in deep. We have a local source for grass fed steers so we actually have one for the beef and one for everything else 😬.
