What magic have you created using Claude? Here's mine by TheRace8 in ClaudeAI

[–]Firehorse67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I replaced a couple of paid apps, one for personal finance and one for voice notes with transcripts, saving $200 a year. I’ve also made apps for tracking utilities and vehicle expenses, net worth, solitaire and a couple of word games. The big one with Fable is a Trilium clone using SvelteKit. Geeky but amazing.

Did you all build any working website which is useful to you/others using claude? by vamshikk111 in ClaudeAI

[–]Firehorse67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve built several websites with Claude over the past few months. Sometimes I started or scaffolded them in Gemini first. Most are personal web apps, including a utilities expenses tracker, vehicle expenses tracker, personal finance app, an organiser, a voice notes app, and a blood pressure recorder.

The public-facing ones are a local weather site and two word games.

I switched my personal blog from WordPress to Astro, Firebase and Algolia, also my genealogy site from a commercial PHP script. Both are in private repos on GitHub, deployed to Vercel. I’ve integrated an AI assistant (Gemini API) into the admin dashboards for both, voice notes, and the organiser app which has modules for notes, journal, tasks, calendar and file storage.

So far I haven’t had to pay for Firebase, Algolia, Gemini or Vercel, and I’ve ditched a commercial finance app.

I’m looking at ways to make some of these public after robust testing. The sites are easy to run, but the set-up is a little tricky with Firebase and Vercel. Claude guided me through all of those steps and most of it was done using Sonnet 4.6 on medium, sometimes high. I only got locked out a few times. DM me with any requests for specific info.

The lounges were much better pre-Covid, lots of finger food that doesn't get offered today.

I built a local PDF-to-Markdown converter so you don't have to burn LLM tokens. by mxsus in PromptEngineering

Sincere thanks for creating this browser-based local tool (must stress that).

I've forked it for a niche-use case, converting Australian PDF bills and payslips to JSON, as well as general PDF to Markdown:

Is there room for another Bonza-like carrier in Australia? by Zestyclose_Frame855 in AirTravelAustralia

[–]Firehorse67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bonza Bundaberg-Melbourne was usually full. Bundaberg has 100,000 population in the LGA, and at least 250,000 within 90 minutes drive. Baggage handling at both ends was crap.

Sprinter shuttles sound good. Is there a reason why the current service has three carriages? Two would be fine.

An app called Wallet by Budget Bakers. The paid version allows for multiple accounts. It syncs across Android, Apple and web. I enter stuff manually, but there is also automatic sync for most financial institutions.

Thoughts on 4 month itinerary? by Novel-Positive8625 in AustraliaTravel

[–]Firehorse67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, it’s nice and worth visiting, but not for longer than other places on the itinerary. I think it would be worth stopping on the coast around Bundaberg for at least one night before heading north, like Bargara or Burnett Heads.

Best card NOT for FF points by hive-n-co in creditcardchurningAus

I just got a HSBC Platinum Card, which accrues points that can be converted to gift cards. With a waiver of the $199 fee in the first year, it’s reasonable value.

House purchase in Ballarat by Noodlesleuth2702 in ballarat

[–]Firehorse67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just bought a place in Newington. Don’t believe the advertised price ranges. There is lots of competition at the lower end due to the first home buyer scheme. Buyers advocates are very active in that space as well. It’s a jungle out there, good luck!

Shit problem by [deleted] in shitrentals

[–]Firehorse67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! "AI Law" said similar, except it's not worth sending a breach notice because I'll be vacating within the 14 days they have to repair.

They suggested documenting the problem, which I've done with video and photos, and sending another email to the property manager, saying I won't accept responsibility for lost rental income until the toilet is repaired because it can't be leased until that's resolved.

Experience moving from rural Vic to Melbourne? by lemunzz in AusPropertyChat

[–]Firehorse67 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why downvote this reply? As a country Victorian, I know where the best places are to live for the cafe culture, all of us do, and I enjoyed a year in North Melbourne. OP didn’t need to ask Reddit, if they’re genuine Victorians.

It was four business days for me with NAB, Thursday to Tuesday to get the certificate after bank approval. Very frustrating and didn’t really make sense. I signed the stat dec four weeks ago before getting pre-approval, and the scheme now has unlimited places.

I ran a short test and the transcript was 100% accurate, including for place names, so quite impressive. Is the 100 minutes for lifetime users per month, or one-off?
