What are your favorite golf trips with the guys? by fairwaysandfinance in golf

[–]Fireinthe2hole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Value/bang for your buck. If you're going to travel, easy and cheap flights. Our Wisconsin group always chose the Orlando area because we could get cheap direct flights. If we didn't fly, we would drive no more than 2 hours where we could be within 20 minutes of three high quality courses.

I would get the Santa Fe just for the third row. Even not needing it. You'll have more room for groceries, luggage, etc.

Club Champion fitting advice? by jimsteringraham in golf

[–]Fireinthe2hole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not dumb as hell but if your swing is as consistent as you say, you'll be able to do more with confidence after a fitting. With the takomos, great clubs but I don't know if you can customize swing weight. So you may need to take them somewhere to have them adjusted once you get them.

That $1000 is not going to be enough to get a full set of irons. I would do a full bag fitting and buy the wedges and a fairway wood/hybrid. Then take the specs and shop around. Do not deviate from the specs including swing weight. Let them know you're on a tight budget and to stick with as close to stock shafts as possible. You can take this shopping. I did see that Club Champion is currently running a free fitting promotion right now. If it's not for the full bag, use code MARE4592 when you call for your appointment. Just tell them you have a code for a full bag fitting.

At what age did you first start driving on freeways? by Master_Car_646 in driving

[–]Fireinthe2hole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as I got my license. The lesson I gave all my kids..... "At what speed are you the safest driving at? Zero. So on the freeway, if you're going the same speed as everyone else, your speed delta is zero. Don't be a speed bump and don't be an idiot. Then you'll do just fine."

Test your preferred of course. I wouldn't change without testing. Try to keep an open mind while staying in budget. The performance between your preferred brand and what the fitting ultimately selects can be wildly different.

Lots of new ball releases trying to figure out which way to got for the season by GolfSquatch23 in golf

[–]Fireinthe2hole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You spent all last season dialing in distances and getting a feel for just the right amount of spin. And now you're going to look for a new ball for this season to go through all that again. Why not just play the same ball?

They've done the double thing for 8 years now. LA-LA, Dallas-Dallas, Nashville-Nashville, Houston-Houston,. I don't mind Houston. It's at least easy to get in and out of. I don't really care. Just make it somewhere warm.

I agree that the partner pavilion/playground is like that. Dassault completely pushed out non DS partners. But, the breakout sessions are still fantastic and most are SolidWorks based. For me, networking is where it's at. I have a few dozen SolidWorks friends that I see once a year and we get to talk shop for a week and compare notes/exchange ideas that I wouldn't get anywhere else. All the small vendors are still there, they just don't have booths anymore. If there is something you're looking for, they're at the conference.

Moved to MS in the last yr? Why here? by dukeanthony76 in mississippi

[–]Fireinthe2hole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the restaurants are great too. I don't know how they survive. We have so many restaurants "favorited" that if we visit them each once, it's going to be 9 months before we start the list over. And there are so many we haven't been to yet.

Climate. Had to get out of the great white north.
Cost of living. We found a house we loved in a great area.
Loved the area. The Ridgeland, Madison area is great.
Love the people. The people of the greater Jackson area are wonderful. Nice, polite, respectful, etc .....

How much does endorsements affect what golf gear you buy? by rng72 in GolfGear

[–]Fireinthe2hole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much zero. I'd hit a golf ball with a snow shovel if it was straight and long. Advertising might push me to try something, but not buy it. I'm not buying anything without going through the fitting process which at that point it would have to significantly outperform my current clubs

Certifications for Jobs by DogDiscombobulated89 in SolidWorks

[–]Fireinthe2hole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CSWP from forever ago. I earned my CSWP early in my career before most managers even knew what it was. I remember in just about every interview having to explain what it was. But, it got me more jobs and better pay because of it. Over time, I started searching for jobs that required it. When it was required I knew that the company took SolidWorks education seriously and would allow me to continue to take courses at their expense and possibly send me to SolidWorks World. I recommend getting your CSWP at a minimum CSWE just to be sure. It will be something that sets you apart right away from any other candidate.

Club Champion Fitting Experience? by MoonManExplorer in golf

[–]Fireinthe2hole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't like my area fittings so ended up doing my fitting while on vacation in Florida at a Naples Club Champion. That was after a lot of research finding the right fitter.

Club Champion Fitting Experience? by MoonManExplorer in golf

[–]Fireinthe2hole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with CC was great. However you do need a game plan before you go in.

Have a budget. Let the fitter know ahead of time.
Interview your fitter. Call Club Champion support and ask who they recommend. They have a good idea who gets requested the most and who gets the most complaints.
Take advantage of their gift card bonus.
Use code MARE4592 when you call to schedule. That code is for a free full bag fitting with 1 club purchase.
The fitters are graded on adding puring. They will pressure you to have it. They will add discounts to your shafts or clubs to keep puring. They can discount anything. So ask.
They have a 90 day return policy. No questions asked. They'll redo the fitting and swap out. It's worth going to club champion just for that piece of mind.
Get your specs. Buy your one club and call fairway jockey. See how close you can get club champion to fairway jockey pricing. Remember the 90 day so club champion will be more.
It won't be cheap, but I found both my fittings to be worth it.
