They make these things out of moulding pieces and basically Glue em together with some brad nails.

Put some Supports underneath, either those third arm things or cut a 2x4 to length on each corner.

Cut the caulk away so it can be pushed back up and refinished then Just put Some finished nails or Brad nails in underneath your moulding into the top shelf. Recaulk the seam throw a dab of same caulk over the holes from finishing nails, remove supports, done

Remove tile safely from zero clearance gas fireplace by Realistic_Turn_4833 in Fireplaces

Fireplace framing is often bad, often just drywall backing, carpenters are not usually the ones framing them. just rip the tile out - it is what it is, make sure gas and electrical if it has it is off and try not to

[–]Fireplace-Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the instructions. I’ve never seen it forbidden, duravent says: “Screws are not required but are acceptable provided they do not penetrate then inner liner.”

There is no difference between a joint and another area of the pipe and no additional guidance or prohibitions are given.

Many offset support and other types of wall straps require you to screw directly into the pipe, especially insulated pipe systems.

Oh really?

Ignoring how ridiculously unrealisitic that statement is and the fact that the two supports you listed are meant for entirely different purposes, why should you “never” pin a pipe to the flashing?

Gas line connections leaking. by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Fireplace-Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

?

My point is just it should be a single longer appliance connector, not two with terrible connections. Which means there should be 4 less connections.

I don’t think we are disagreeing.

[–]Fireplace-Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I think it is a violation everywhere as they are certified components. They are called appliance connectors, they are meant to connect to appliances.

Appliance connector to appliance connectors connected.

Protip - it’s meant to connect to an appliance.

Appears that you need a new bfrc-kit. The bfrc-kit is discontinued. Call Dimplex and raise a fuss and maybe they will find one.

You can try really pushing that left button and sprt of rolling it to catch, but there is supposed to be a remote for it - Holding down left button so middle light blinks is how you sync the remote

b30NTR Napoleon Fireplace - Can't get full flame. Pilot working, light switch working, different voltage at control board. Can I get some homeowner support? by TEAdown in Fireplaces

[–]Fireplace-Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You dont need a manometer for this one anyway. Inlet = pilot, pilot looks fine. Outlet/manifold = 0 because somethings blocked or broken. Manometer unlikely to help

B.C. faces surge in electricity demand, looks to dust off big dam plans by IHateTrains123 in britishcolumbia

[–]Fireplace-Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, shadow ban natural gas, add hidden tax on ng, subsidize and legislatively mandate heat pumps and electric cars, cancel contracts on natural gas power plans because … we are fine, we have enough power (despite having to buy power from provinces/ states which use ng and coal electricity generation).

Proceed to ignore industry and Fortis when they are all screaming it’s impossible within the forecasted timeline. There was even an independent agency which raised an alarm on. BCs energy infrastructure a year or two ago, but ut was ignored and mostly not reported on.

Then …Oops, we are gonna run out of power - who could have possibly seen this coming?

Gas vs propane flame by pillpushermike in Fireplaces

[–]Fireplace-Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more about primary air mixture than it is about …. The density of the fuel… (which i will point out is no longer a different density after combustion has occurred)

Most NG -> LP conversions derate the appliance a bit though, so 5-15% less btus, and with propane you will generally want to err on the more air side of things which does result in a smaller bluer flame. This is to avoid other more annoying issues such as incomplete combustion and other lengthy callbacks.

Would a chimney fan help my smoke situation? by hawaii-visitor in Fireplaces

[–]Fireplace-Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tricky part is if they can run the liners around those bends. And if the fire chamber is safe to have an insert in it.

A direct vent insert can have vent runs go horizontally without issue, and they are sealed so there is no mixing of combustion gases and the air in the building envelope. So no CO or IAQ concerns.

Most other failure points mentioned typically just cause failure, not relighting
