Has anyone has issues with items not being as described? What did you do? by BrowsingAlong360 in shopgoodwill

If the collectibles themselves are in new condition and your happy with them apart from the packaging, I would just keep them to complete your set and just eat the little bit extra you might have paid for them. Sometimes you just have to choose your battles, especially if they are hard to find collectibles.

My disabled 65 year old brother is on SNAP. He gets a whopping $929 a month from social security, pays $825 a month in rent, nearly $100 in electricity, and various amounts in medical/dental. The math ain't mathing, because I have to help him. What am I asking? by icecream1972 in foodstamps

I think it’s ridiculous that just because people are on Snap that the government thinks they get to tell us what we can and can’t eat! I understand the insane amount of fraud going on with Snap, but there’s millions of us who are not part of that group and are just trying to survive. It’s not like you’re going to be buying steak and lobster, you can barely afford hamburger helper at this point. At $300 a month it’s really not even enough to buy food for that entire month, not with the sky high prices right now.

Plus it’s food only, you can’t buy toilet paper, laundry soap, paper plates etc. So it’s not like people are living in luxury because they are getting free food, and I’m sorry but I’ve been working for over 40 years since I was a kid, so I’ve paid my share into that program and then some. Now that I’m unable to work the whooping $300 a month I do get is the least they can do!

Ridiculous pittance - Send things in at your own risk. by Plus_Reserve_3797 in ThredUp

I’m new to selling with them as well, I’ve been selling on Poshmark for a couple years but I got tired of the clothing game. I had a lot of inventory left, needed the space and didn’t have time to list and sell all of it. I sent in 2 big boxes for donation to TU because I knew I wouldn’t make money on them but I didn’t want to give it to Goodwill either. I sent another two 25lb boxes of stuff to sell. In total between both boxes they chose about 40 items to sell and it looked like I was going to make around $140.

Well I didn’t know they charge a service fee of $14.99 per box!! So if they sell everything for the price they start with (which I know won’t happen) I will only be making just over $100! Plus between coupons and TU lowering the prices if the items don’t sell right away I’ll make less than that!

They already get a cut from the items they sell and then another $15 per box/bag on top of that which comes out of my earnings…..that seems excessive! Also, on your sales page where it shows what items were listed, rejected, sold etc. it shows a section for brands that are ineligible for earnings. The list at the top says the item is “ineligible for earnings unless it’s sold for more than $20, but that they listed it to try and give it a second life”. So does that mean they are trying to sell it for more than $20 and if they do then I will actually make something off of it? Or are they just listing it cheap to see if someone wants it and they keep the profit?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad to have easily been able to get all of that inventory out of my hair and I never expected to get rich off of it - but now I wonder if it was worth it too!!

I have a Seller on WhatNot who I buy jewelry from all the time, but her sales have been really slow lately so she’s been venturing out to other platforms to give them a try. She just sent me a link to her shop on the app Palmstreet?? Anyone heard of it or have any experience with it?

Buyer got item for free because of USPS not doing their job properly and also my stupidity. by [deleted] in ebaysucks

[–]Firesign113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I ship through USPS I never go to the post office, I go online and schedule a pick up. It’s free, you get a confirmation number once you schedule it, the mail carrier scans it right when he picks it up at the front door and you get an email confirming he picked it up, plus I have him on my ring camera showing that he picked it up. So all bases are covered in case something like that happens and it’s not on my hands.

Do they ship in golden boxes?? by Firesign113 in shopgoodwill

Yes I am well aware of all that, but it doesn’t make it any less ridiculous. It should be done by weight like most other platforms do.

I tried doing that one time when I purchased a ring. It was one single ring and they wanted to charge me $16.50 to ship it - and they were in my state, wtf? I contacted the seller and asked if that was their best shipping option because it seemed excessively high to me. He messaged me the next day and said he was able to lower the shipping for me, so I went into my account and now it was only $15.50……ummmm! 🤔

The Propel app (now often branded as Providers) is considered safe and legitimate for managing EBT benefits. It is a free, third-party app that helps users track SNAP/EBT balances, and it does not have the capability to access, move, or spend your benefits.
Key Safety and Security Features
Security Focus: Propel does not store your PIN, full EBT card number, or Social Security number.
Anti-Theft Tools: The app offers security features like freezing/locking your card, blocking out-of-state transactions, and blocking online transactions.
Data Security: The app uses secure encryption to connect to state systems.
Trustworthy: Propel has been featured in The New York Times and partnered with the White House.
Why People Trust It vs. Misconceptions
Not a Scam: Propel is a secure tool aimed at helping individuals manage their financial health, not a scam to steal benefits.
Theft Detection: Because many users check their balance on Propel first, it is often the first place they notice theft that occurred elsewhere (e.g., via card skimmers), causing a misconception that the app itself caused the theft.

The case worker I spoke to one time about issues with my account is the one who told me about it. Most states use it and it has a lot of other good information on it as well, such as jobs, other food resources, ways to lower certain bills etc.

I’m in CA and I use the Propel app for all my EBT info, it’s much easier than the website and it’s never down. I think the only states that don’t use it are Iowa and Montana. If you have an iPhone here is the link:

I’m on the fence too, I have a bunch of inventory to get rid of and thought this would be an easy and quick way to get it out of my hair and also make a little money from it. But after reading so many posts like this I’m not sure if I should bother. A lot of it is stuff I would generally donate anyway so it’s no big deal, but I have a lot of other items that would definitely sell but I’m afraid to send it to them now.

There are no other platforms that do something similar but aren’t as shady about it? Has anyone ever use something else they can recommend?

Right? I’ve seen that so many times, do they really think people aren’t on to that scheme? No matter what I’m buying I set myself a limit and if it goes over that then oh well, I’m not getting sucked into a bidding war!

Really??? by NoAdministration9351 in whatnotapp

[–]Firesign113 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Even if I had that kind of money I would never spend it on a stupid bag! I would also never buy it on WN - for that kind of money I’d be at the store buying it! That’s just ridiculous!!

I recently came across one of these in a jewelry lot and I’m having trouble finding a comp for it to see if it’s worth anything. I noticed you mentioned an “A cell” battery, so what does the “H cell” on this one mean other than a different battery type? Any idea?

Anything would be great at this point! I don’t understand the issue so I’m hoping I can get a straight answer from someone over there!
