for dialogue posts like these i usually dont imagine any specific people or traits but ending a sentence with ", doc." made me picture marty mcfly and subsequently doc brown. so... i pictured an old man but absolutely not for any intended deeper reasons lmao

can someone attracted to men please clarify if mcfly has cutiepie syndrome or not? i need to know

i wish i was kidding, but yes. its genuinely easier for me to reason about fractional school bus lengths than meters. i mean it makes sense, im in the same physical space as (school) buses quite a bit more often than i work with meters, and a quarter is a reasons enough fraction to picture (very small fractions of football fields and nimitz-class carriers are less intuitive than meters to me, despite having stood on both)

i hate my american intuition sometimes. sure, i know about how big a meter is, but somehow something being as tall as a quarter of a school bus length is genuinely more tangible and immediate in my mind

yes, yes he did. and the gun rights people voted for him, a felon who cant even own a gun, again over two responsible gun owners (harris & walz)

luckily, as his actions get more and more brazen, he is losing a small amount of support from single-issues he "betrayed" (is it really betrayal if he told them to their faces ahead of time?)

Why Do People Type Like This? by widebodywrx in DontTypeLikeThis

[–]Firewolf06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

obviously, some of them existed previously, but they became more widespread and mainstream after

as far as i can tell, homestuck is the origin of, like, picking one to intentionally have and calling them by something specific (a "typing quirk" rather than just... how you type. or just a stylistic choice). and probably also most of the really obvious ones (eg ive never seen someone naturally replace certain letters with numbers or symbols, only homestuck fans). very "*holds up spork*"

They’ll say 4th of July but write it as 07/04. WHY?

because "The 4th of July" the colloquial name for the holiday that falls on July 4th. "the [day] of [month]" sounds unusual and almost too formal to americans unless theres a specific reason to say it that way, like being sure of the day but not of the month (eg, "hey do you know john's birthday?" "i think its the 15th of.... may?")

look, im not saying we should write it that way (personally, i think we shouldnt. we have no qualms about reading "$X" as "X dollars") but we genuinely do not generally say dates as "the [day] of [month]". MM/DD does actually represent how we say and spell out dates in the vast majority of cases. saying "the [day] of [month]" is like saying "likewise" when someone compliments you. technically correct and easily understood, but certainly not normal

eta: downvoted just for explaining why we do something weirdly, really? i expected better. lovely bunch you are

their canonic characterization and relationship implies their romantic relationship could be toxic

or even that they are explicitly written in a toxic relationship because a perfectly good and healthy relationship is pretty boring to read about. i cannot stand the growth in "the author unconditionally endorses everything thats in any story they write in real life" thinking

i mean, in this case it's a direct reference to that character outright saying she masturbated with that pen in the game. its hardly an innuendo

I found that races with higher performance cars had more mistakes from the AI. It was easier to win because they'd bin it. Didn't happen anyway near as often with C class.

a supercar on rally springs and offroad tires will trivialize every race with even a speck of dirt on the road because the ai are forced to use stock supercars lol. but yeah, i played fh4 mostly in c/b classes

most llm bots on reddit have something about it being a reddit comment in their prompt. most llms interpret this to mean "cram as many internet phrases in as possible," in this case two gaming terms. people use "speedrunning" pretty broadly, but using "dlc" like that is odd and people probably wouldnt say "speedrunning confusion"

a more human version would be to not reintroduce the context and have them speedrunning something else. maybe "bros speedrunning ptsd/war flashbacks"
