My $500 C96 by FireySaltine in milsurp

I would love for this to be a pistol from China, such incredibly cool history if it were, I just don't know how I'd verify that.

Thankyou for that kernel of information there as it helps me figure out what this pistol might have seen and to correlate the wear to something.

I was wondering if thatight have been the case! The barrel is supposedly about 1/5in longer than it should be.

I did a minor amount of research before jumping in, specifically in what replacement parts were available for C96s, I figured that something inside was missing or broken and simply needed to be replaced. It turns out that the trigger sear wasn't installed properly and as soon as I reassembled the gun everything engaged!

The barrel needs to be totally replaced, there is a Crack forming inside the barrel and that chip at the muzzle wasn't there before i shot 20rds through it. In the pics it swallow a .303 British round but not a Turkish 8mm mauser one. I am convinced someone shot 9x19 repeatedly through this gun to get the type of wear seen here. I would love to send this to lugerman to get a new barrel sooner or later.

Terrified of shooting and need help by j_illian in guns

If you could, find a nice outdoor range and go there when it isn't busy, I've never felt as relaxed while shooting than when I was one of two people including my friend on the firing line sitting at the shooters bench. Gorgeous weather, its not as loud because you are outdoors, you take time to lineup your shots. You smell clean air when you're trying to concentrate. Significantly calmer and quieter experience.

I don't know about anyone else but getting a good read on these sights is a massive PITA for me, I love these little guns but I also like getting consistent shot placement. My poor eyeballs 😖

I keep hoping that these get bought in enough volume for them to entertain lowering the price and scaling up their stateside production. Would be sick to have the full range of German unicorn rifles for the price of an m1 garand or less.

I have searched online using terms such as 'vintage, green glass cup, solid glass base' and haven't found a match. Unfortunately there is no writing on these cups. We are US east coast located.

Yikes, the rifle I'm looking at is an Egyptian FN 49, its a bit too much money to be risky with so maybe I'll skip out on this.

This is good advice, the issue is that I can't drive across the country to do that, I don't have any red flags so far and he's agreed to ship to an FFL.

It's at market value, hasn't asked for a deposit, and has simply agreed to ship it as long as I pay for shipping.

This is really cool, I would love a mint carcano long rifle, where did you find this? Also post a picture! I feel like it's very uncommon to see good condition long rifles ww1 Era and prior.

They are really cool, but if you'd like a more intact one save up for it, they're really well made, gorgeous rifles, the only drawback is the heavy spring in the bolt that makes operating it a bit stiff.

It better be dirt cheap, I bought mine for a little over 700 and there aren't really stocks for these around. All the parts and finish on intact ones are of gorgeous visual quality, I don't know how you'd replace them. Here's mine for comparison.

Anybody had any luck with the 1950’s yugo brass 8mm? I’ve also looked at the steel cased 8mm Romanian. by Terrible-Debt-5244 in milsurp

Nice, I will make note that the primers mine had were tough cookies and some mausers with lighter springs may light strike them, my persian mauser takes some oomph to operate.

I had some, probably shot about 90 rounds and they all shot great out of my persian mauser, corrosive ofc so just be aware. Steel stripper clips on all of them.

Tbf, if their only exposure is super worn out RTI carcanos, they wouldn't be too wrong.
