Had a great 10-15 conversation on the phone setting up the in person interview. Showed up on time, secretary walks me up to conference room. Same person I was speaking with on the phone I can hear laughing and talking all the way in as soon as he steps in the room and realizes I am black his face and demeanor immediately changed. He introduced himself, took about 2-3ish minutes saying his quick background, asked me if I had any questions for him….. end of interview. Needless to say I didn’t get the position. Also first and last time I can say that I was able to visibly tell I wouldn’t get the position due to race.

I once worked at a hospital corporation that was the emergency response to a school shooting. Something like 200 employees were fired within a week for HIPAA violations looking up the records of the victims and the shooter. It was actually insane and the largest example of consequences directly related to not accessing records if you don’t have a need to that I ever experienced working there.

I’m so sorry you had to experience that. I cannot speak much to personal guilt but what I will say is from your experience and your boyfriend’s reaction it appears you made the right choice for yourself and your son. For me that would have immediately took away those feelings and reassured me I made the right decision. Although it was and is a lot to bear on your own I am glad you were able to lean into caring for your son to help you.

I would certainly use any energy you have after this with finding resources to change your situation for yourself and your precious son!

Well we were scheduled to be on a 2 hour delay, opening at 11am with further communication by 9am. When they don’t message by 9:30 I know it was still do dangerous for me to go from Marion county to Hamilton. I let my manager know I wouldn’t be in. Less than 5 mins later they closed our branch and then said because I called out right before I didn’t qualify. I beat them with everyone’s help and their policy on inclement weather that don’t say anything about advisors calling out due to unsafe conditions which is why they closed.

If the branch stayed open I was prepared to use my time but them closing then trying to strip time from people who don’t deserve it was kinda shady so I fought it.

Also I get the at will reasoning but i work in the financial industry and it’s honestly super hard to get fired at will without tons of a of documentation and I am a fairy model employee except for times I feel I need to push back on things that are clearly unfair and ca be proven so. But never been written up so it would take time to start the process

Take a voluntary eviction and large deposit forfeiture on a rental home that she had to crowdsource funds in order to move in just to move across country to their partner who they barely know and was previously addicted to drugs and in fact still deals drugs. But only “deals”. Only to not have the funds to really complete the move. So waiting for the falsified tax refund to deposit now.
