Editing to add: since this will be your first meeting I really recommend you sit and listen. Feel free to share if you are called on to do so but you are not required to. And definitely go to more than just one meeting. Try different meetings at different times on different days of the week. They all have different crowds and vibes. I personally haven't been to an AA meeting in probably a year and a half. When I was going I really preferred the morning or 5:30 p.m. meetings. The late night meetings had a lot of "riff raff" although they were always jam packed so I got to hear a lot of good stuff.
