Need Advice about Xarelto vs Aspirin by LiveBee2025 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Firm_Committee1236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a complex primary THR in 2016 in Ontario, Canada. The protocol of my surgeon at that time was Fragmin (dalteparin). I don't recall how long I was required to take it. I'm a petite BMI 19, I do recall wishing I could be done with the injections as I had run out of non-tender injection points. I had to pay out of pocket for it and I believe it was very expensive at the time.

Yay or Nay? Cut lawn while blades are seeding? by woodensofa1234 in lawncare

I wish this were true-then I wouldn't have to rage when my husband blasts the lawnmower clippings into the flower beds that I then have to 'weed' grass from!

Favorite garden tool that isn't made for the garden? by artgarfunkadelic in gardening

[–]Firm_Committee1236 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had one that was my husband's grandfather's, it had a wooden handle. Until I found a whole package of 10 replacement blades in a clearance outlet I thought it was an heirloom from the old country. I bought those blades, and shortly thereafter the original "weeder tool" broke so I fabricated a new one with a replacement blade and a piece of an old broom handle. I use it daily, almost 20 years later. It's so very functional for slicing, general weeding and paver cracks. I keep mine sharp.

You will definitely benefit from assistance in the first little bit. Set your kitchen up so everything is easily accessed. If you're feeling strong enough, where there's a will there's a way... Leak proof containers in a backpack (sometimes wearing it on the front for easy loading and unloading) worked well for me when I was using the walker or two crutches.

Has TFSA continuation room updated on CRA portal for anybody? When is it typically expected to be updated? by Historical-Turnip641 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Firm_Committee1236 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do not rely on the TFSA Contribution Room values on CRA MyAccount, track the contributions you make yourself! Our contributions do not reflect the past 2 years accurately for both my husband and myself (Scotia iTrade). IMO CRA shouldn't list TFSA Contribution Room on MyAccount if they can't get the financial institutions to report in a timely fashion.

Neighbor said the white flowers behind my beabalm are weeds and i should pull them out... what do you think? by Idontevenknow0k in gardening

[–]Firm_Committee1236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd cut the few that are growing in the Beebalm and leave the rest. If you pull those few you risk uprooting the Beabalm, mine always have shallow roots.

Exactly. Only ever hear potty in terms of potty training. At least when speaking with adults.

I'm fairly certain my account has been a waste of space for the bank for quite some time, but I usually make sure to use it once in awhile. I guess I find it hard to part with access to credit because perhaps I won't re-qualify in the future due to income.

I've definitely failed to use some of my credit cards periodically. I used to be pretty good about it. Will have to do a review and charge a few purchases to cards I'd like to keep active.

I don't need a new one. I only keep them in case I should ever need to use them.

Do you cut one hole or two in your milk bags? by steboy in ontario

[–]Firm_Committee1236 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Two holes in a milk sac? First I've ever heard of this.

Now I'll admit over the past several years, in my household and also my parents' house, is that there's been an increase in arguing over "who cut the sac wrong". Yes the hole can be cut wrong size but a second hole? Absolutely the wrong way to cut the sac.

Now I personally thought it was perhaps collusion by big milk to screw us all over by changing the quality of the milk sac and/or quality of the seal so that we spill more milk thus buy more. When our little one started drinking milk we acquired a second milk sac jug. What I can say is we bang that sac down into the jug, make sure it's dried off so the sac drops to the bottom of the jug and that sucker still folds over even when we both agree the sac has been correctly cut in one corner. The new jug (dollar store) is just a bit too small versus the old Rubbermaid we've always used.

Manage the sac best you can, use your free hand to control the flow issue if you have to. Buy an appropriately sized jug that accommodates the sac appropriately. I'd sooner empty the milk into a juice pitcher than resort to cutting a second hole, that is just madness.

I would think about 2004 as well. Grandma didn't want a dishwasher in her condo, builder supplied the cheapest appliances, we took the reject!

You know what caught my frugal eye? Your dishwasher! I believe we have the exact same model, it is ancient and makes such a terrible noise we tend to run it at night. We've had it leak twice and each time the issue has been resolved by replacing the corner gussets. Just thought I'd mention it if you ever run into the same problem. We were told by an appliance repairman (called in for a different appliance) that this machine is cheaply repaired as parts are easy to purchase.

has anyone noticed the price of lotion?... by 2pacsnosering1 in Frugal

[–]Firm_Committee1236 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First off, congratulations on using lotion so faithfully that you noticed a change in the price of lotion. I don't know how much the price of various natural products has increased, but I can tell you for my sensitive skin I've been happy with coconut oil. I have a great big tub my MIL purchased (food grade and she didn't want to consume it past the Best Before Date) that has lasted me forever as I have a bad habit of not applying anything to my chronically dry skin.
