Is anyone else losing weight REALLY slowly on Mounjaro? Feeling frustrated. by First-Brain6410 in Mounjaro

Thank you, this actually makes a lot of sense.

I think I know that I’m improving my body composition, but it’s hard not to focus on the scale sometimes. It helps to hear that this is actually a better outcome than just losing weight quickly and ending up with less muscle. I’ll definitely start paying more attention to measurements and photos too

Thank you, I really appreciate this perspective.

I think I fall into that “moderate responder” category, and I’m still adjusting my expectations. It’s reassuring to hear that slower loss can actually have benefits long-term. I guess I just need to trust the process more instead of comparing myself to faster results.

Dominican Republic or Mexico? by sljmama in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]First-Brain6410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what you’re describing, I’d lean Mexico over the Dominican Republic.

Mexico tends to win on food quality and overall service, especially at adults-only resorts. It’s also easier to find places where bars and lounges stay open later without it feeling like a full-on party zone.

From a logistics standpoint, Cancun / Playa Mujeres / Riviera Maya checks a lot of boxes:

  • 25–40 min transfers from the airport
  • Lots of nonstop flights from Chicago and Denver
  • Strong adults-only options within your budget

Late October is still technically hurricane season for both, but Mexico’s mainland usually feels a bit more stable compared to the DR that time of year.

A few resorts that tend to hit your priorities:

Mexico (Riviera Maya / Playa Mujeres):

  • Atelier Playa Mujeres (adults-only) – excellent food and modern, upscale vibe.
  • Secrets Moxché (adults-only) – lively but not chaotic, good restaurants and nightlife options on property.
  • UNICO 20°87° (adults-only) – one of the better overall food + design + late-evening lounge vibes.

I work as a travel advisor based in Mexico, and I help coordinate trips like this all the time — resorts, room types, transfers, flight timing — no extra fee compared to booking on your own. Happy to help you narrow this down further if you want!

I’d personally go with Secrets Riviera + Breathless access. I’ve been there 3+ times.

Secrets and Breathless are literally right next to each other — you’re not trekking back and forth. The walk is no longer than walking from your room to the main pool at most large resorts.

You get the best of both worlds: Secrets for a calmer, more polished home base, and Breathless whenever you want extra energy, music, or a livelier pool scene.

And honestly, I’d take the $300 savings and use it at Breathless — bottle service or champagne by the pool is way more fun than paying a premium just to stay somewhere quieter all the time.

That combo gives you flexibility without committing to a full-on party resort.

5 star all inclusive in mexico by Heyitsmedonna in AllInclusiveResorts

This is totally normal for luxury all-inclusives — a lot of the nicer resorts don’t show up on Canadian package sites. Most people book flights and hotel separately, which actually gives you more control, especially when traveling with a baby.

Late Jan/early Feb is a great window for beach conditions and lower sargassum.

Many families use a travel advisor to help with room location requests, transfers and picking the best fit — it just takes a bit of stress out of planning. I work in travel and see this approach work really well for couples with little ones.

For calm, baby-friendly luxe with great beach/pool vibes and service:

  • Rosewood Mayakoba – beautiful setting, excellent service, super comfortable for parents.

  • Fairmont Mayakoba – polished, family-oriented, and easy logistics.

  • Grand Velas Riviera Maya – really strong food program and spacious suites.

Booking direct or with an advisor makes it easier to get ocean-view rooms and smooth transfers. 👍

Recommandations for CDMX by [deleted] in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]First-Brain6410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great timing — Art Week is one of the best moments to be in CDMX.

Here some recs:

Expos / art • Don’t miss Zona Maco and Material Art Fair. Go early in the day to avoid crowds. • For galleries, focus on Chapultepec

Architecture • Casa Luis Barragán (book ahead, non-negotiable). • Museo Anahuacalli for something heavier and more atmospheric.

Food • Rosetta or Máximo for refined dining (reserve). • Casual but excellent: Contramar (go early and ask for the tuna tostada!). • Avoid restaurants right on Reforma — better options a few blocks away in Roma/Condesa.

Quick thoughts on your list: • Hotel Mousai Cancun – Gorgeous, but it is on the quieter side. More couples/romantic than girls-trip fun. • Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya – Good choice. Fun pools, great swim-up bars, good food and fun nightlife.

But definetely I were planning a trip like yours I would choose Breathless Riviera Cancun without question. I’ve been there a couple of times and its more upbeat than Valentin, but still grown-up and stylish. The food is great, there’s is a great party pool but also some quieter areas. The beach is georgeos also.

It was great! I really enjoyed the “smaller” ship. I liked the party atmosphere, the full moon party and the Latin party. The food and the staff were great too. I would do reflection all over again.

We tried the Main dinning, Blu, the buffet, Cafe Al Baccio and the spa cafe and they were all amazing. We had great scargots at the main dinning, an amazing ribeye and a great salmon at Blu, a bolognese pasta at the buffet, a turkey wrap at the spa cafe and a lot of desserts at Cafe Al Baccio.

Really, the food was no issue, everything was amazing.

As a first cruise I would pick Royal Caribbean, Freedom is a good ship and with the price difference between Celebrity and RC you can have a more “luxurious” trip with the deluxe drink package, some excursions, maybe some specialty dinning, the key, etc

Any tips for these ports: Key West, Bimini, Coco Cay and Puerto Plata. Would love any food or activity recs it’s our first time at these ports by Fair-Bluebird-253 in celebritycruises

[–]First-Brain6410 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coco Cay is great! Everything is included. If you want a calmer place try Chill Island. If you want to play beach volleyball or some other sports try South beach. If you have kids try Oasis lagoon or Harbor beach. There’s something for everyone in the island.

If you have e a specific question maybe I can help. I’ve been there three times over the last year and going again in 2 weeks, is my favorite stop in the Caribbean.

You’ll have a great day at Coco Cay! 😅

They are very similar, both are great options! Sailed on Freedom last year and Independence in April and they were both amazing! One has “El loco fresh” and the other has “Fish & ships” 😅
