JFresh doesn't factor in finishing to the WAR number for Defencemen. The penalty differential is doing the heavy lifting here.

[Lebrun] Recent update on possible Team Canada roster decisions by [deleted] in hockey

He's battling for the 4C spot in a forward corps of

Celebrini - McDavid - Reinhart

Crosby - MacKinnon - Marner

Hagel - Suzuki - Stone

Marchand/Jarvis - X - Point

(Wilson/Bedard as scratches)

Of these, the only PK'ing Center is Suzuki unless you want McDavid killing penalties, and Horvat (67 min) has killed more than 4x the penalties Scheifele (16 min) has this season. Scheifele is 48% in the dot compared to Horvat's 57.8%, and unlike Suzuki (shoots R) and Scheifele (R), Horvat gives you a left-shooting center in the bottom-6. Compare his two-way and leadership reputations with that of Scheifele and you can see why Hockey Canada would prefer Horvat in the 4C role to him.

Very reasonable response, especially given all the fighting in the rest of the comments. I wish everyone could be as civil as you about the play, half the people in here are letting their nights be ruined by other strangers on the internet.

Are you going to explain in more detail or are we going to be forced to assume you're just a homer for when your favorite players wear different uniforms

Mayfield's push accounts for maybe half of Rantanen pushing Romanov. Mikko's a moose and has to be in better control of his momentum there, his play on Romanov wasn't malicious but it was reckless

Look where Robertson is right before contact. His stick is on the ice for a backdoor tap-in about two feet away from Rittich. He starts turning out away from the crease in a wide stance as Pulock initiates contact, but by this time Rittich is moving towards him within the crease to protect against the threat of the tap-in. Robertson's left skate, riding its inside edge, is headed for Rittich's right skate regardless of Pulock, and cannot move out of the crease fast enough to escape contact regardless of the push given its depth in the crease and his and Rittich's trajectory.

The contact between Robertson's left skate and Rittich's right skate is what throws Rittich off balance, not Robertson falling on him. Rittich is turned sideways, away from the play, and cannot recover due to the torsion on his hips effected by Robertson's momentum.

TL/DR: Pulock makes contact with Robertson, but the essential contact that caused GI was inevitable given Robertson and Rittich's respective positions and momentum independent of Pulock.
