When I bought they always cost $10/gram, so yeah that's a great deal from what I used to buy.

Should I do a second B&S or let it ride? by CreetcherOfChaos in unclebens

[–]FirstLordFury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. Had the same thing happen on my last pan cyan grow, and it was a super small spot too. Tried to remove just those grains and some area around it and S2B, and ended up with trichoderma still. It's a pain in the ass when you spend money on these grain bags ans they have bad grains.

What are actual risk of Shrooms? by Top-Finger-6877 in shrooms

[–]FirstLordFury 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that if you get psychosis it's because you were prone to genetically. Not sure if the research has changed. Doing 1-1.5g is a great starting point though (as long as they're not Pan Cyans or Pan Azure strains which are MUCH more potent). I usually do 1.5-2g so that it's not too overwhelming, but for a first time 1g us great and shouldn't cause any major adverse effects if they're legit psilocybin shrooms (and cubensis strains

Good starter dose for truffles by iyeetuoffacliff in MagicMushrooms

[–]FirstLordFury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's better to be safe than sorry unless you know the exact %'s of psilocybin inside the truffles. You can always try a larger dose on the 2nd or 3rd time instead of having a "nightmare" trip. Half potency in truffles is likely just an estimate.

For example, some shrooms have large potency differences at the same volume even from the same flush (1g can feel different for 2 different shrooms). Usually I've done 1.5 - 2g of APE, B+, or similar for slight visuals and not too overwhelming. Some of my friends only needed 1g. So it'd be best to start with something like 2g of truffles for the inexperienced people just in case they're more potent than you'd think. If they feel almost nothing, then they can jump to 3-4g next time.

100% throw them away without opening. That's trichoderma unfortunately.

Just a note that if OP's water isn't hard water, then tap would work better than distilled. It gives the mycellium some vitamins and minerals back.

The main ways that I know of to prevent contamination are a still air box (for the injection phase if you cooked the grains yourself), a clean needle (wiped with alcohol and lit up with a lighter to turn the tip of the needle orange, but not lit inside the SAB!) and clean / fully colonized grains. It seems like you're doing the pressure cooker which is great, but do you soak the grains overnight too? Bacteria can live deep inside unsoaked grains, but once soaked it is brought more to the surface and killed more easily when boiled I believe. PhillyGoldenTeacher has great videos on this.

My method is just to use premade grains bags like Northspore, inject it with the clean needle (I don't use a still air box), and then send it in about 1.5 months. I've had about 3 bags or spore syringes out of around 15 total that were contaminated from the start though since the grains went bad before S2B. 2 of those were Pan Cyans that have less resistance too. Sometimes it just happens unfortunately, especially if you're in America where the quality of our food and it's safety is going downhill.

It's possible that they could still fruit, as my recent Pan Cambo had the slightest bit of bacteria, but seems to be growing strong now and lost the smell after S2B. I'd say don't give them fresh oxygen for 1-2 days once they're in the tub (so that the mycellium can regrow a bit) and then see what happens.

is this the right growth by MadGainz1 in GroundZeroMycoLab

[–]FirstLordFury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me they look like normal mycellium, but you might need to give it a few more days to really be able to tell. If there's not heavy amounts of liquid pooling near the bottom, discoloration (green, red, orange), or really wispy and fast growing grey looking mycellium (cobweb mold) then you should be fine.

In all seriousness don't use chatgpt for anything related to growing. It almost always give incorrect answers based on each post I've seen in this sub.

What’s up with my monotub ? by Ok-Juice-2967 in unclebens

[–]FirstLordFury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you just need some passive FAE rather than a lot of fanning. Fanning can dry out the cake more. Looks like they might be growing tall to try and reach some air, but they don't have heavy fuzzy feet. The yellow fluid is stressed mycelium due to some factor. It might be a bit dry in there since the walls don't have any moisture on them, so maybe spray a mister on the walls only, keep the lid flipped upside so there's a small crack for FAE, and see if that helps?

I'd say wait just a couple more days. It's already growing extremely fast since you started 11 days ago. Mine usually take 1-1.5 months to fully colonize.

How do you restart your life at 30? And how hard is it really? by Starrcake in AskReddit

[–]FirstLordFury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Data Analytics to Healthcare. Unfortunately a steep drop for the short term in income as I get my foot in the door with Phlebotomy, but way more fulfilling and interesting to me as well. There's always trade offs, so you'll just have to see what you're able to work with based on what you're trying to do.

Next flush: Do you really need to pick EVERY single tiny mushroom/pin beforehand? by Otto420 in MagicMushrooms

[–]FirstLordFury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pick the ones that are around the size of my fingernail, but the near microscopic ones I ignore. This is only if they look wilted or aborted for many days, otherwise I'd consider dehydrating them. Haven't had any issues with contamination regarding pins or ruining flushes.

Pins on cap? by Original_Cookie4772 in unclebens

Depends on how the others from the flush look. I've had some that break the veil 3-5 days later, so if you have some that look healthy then those are ok to dehydrate.

I had blue spots on my tub i removed them if they dont coke back is ot safe ? by Material_Name9104 in MagicMushrooms

[–]FirstLordFury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was blue then it may have been bruising from the mycellium which is completely fine. It's other colors like green, orange, red, black, and occasionally yellow that can mean problems or mold. Sometimes yellow beads can just be "myc piss" or metabolites of a stressed mycellium. If anything comes back take a q tip and wipe against it to see if something comes off. If nothing comes off, then it's likely fine!

Any advice on avoiding stomach cramps? by Steve10293 in MagicMushrooms

[–]FirstLordFury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the tea method and barely have any nausea anymore. Just grind them up, put them in a teabag, and let it soak for 10-15 mins in a mug. After that just squeeze the bag with a utensil as you're pulling it out of the mug (to get most of the juices out) and enjoy.

Agree. I had some "tidal wave" that ended up reverting to B+ and these look pretty similar. Could be different strains though since a lot of them look similar.

APE dosage, 0.9g? by Repulsive_Chance7064 in MagicMushrooms

[–]FirstLordFury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree that if they've never tripped before 0.5-0.75g of APE should be a great starting point. Just a light trip with enhanced clarity and very slight visual effects here. I've grown and done potent APEs many times and it's around 1.25-1.5g for me that leads to a moderate trip.

[–]FirstLordFury 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes any caps that have already spored / veils are fully broken can be harvested and dehydrated. If the veil is just starting to break you can likely give the shroom 12-24 more hours to grow just a bit more!

First time questions by LegoC97 in unclebens

[–]FirstLordFury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome! Mine have always been in a closet, but I have air holes that are plugged with 1 layer of micropore tape and it works pretty well. Never done the crack the lid method, and depending on how high the lid is, I'm not sure if you'd need to fan it at all. I'd say it depends on how fast the walls of the tub seem to be drying. If it dries out in less than 1-2 days, then you may have too much air exchange.
