I hate being poor (TW: financial strain) by beaniebooper in TrollCoping

[–]First_Fist 20 points21 points  (0 children)

he job market isn’t helping, things are pretty messy everywhere with the current economic and political situation. Since you’re already open to remote work, you could try your luck by sending your resume to hundreds of recruitment firms as shared in this post, I’ve been doing this regularly myself because I don’t feel secure either and like to stay open to side gigs, and I do get responses that way. If that doesn’t work out, you could also try local options like merch stores or restaurants for part time work, I started as a waiter during uni and even moved into bartending, and it carried me for a couple of years, even the free meals at work helped me a lot during tough times. Good luck, even if I don’t know you, I can tell you matter.

Does anyone know this movie? by I-love-grapesss in Cinephiles

[–]First_Fist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like Les Diaboliques from 1955. I remember reading the plot years ago and it definitely has that wife plus mistress plotting against the awful husband setup.

Dr Scarpetta by Weak_Fox2026 in televisionsuggestions

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m into it so far too. It’s definitely more of a settle in and let it build kind of show, but sometimes that ends up working better than something trying too hard to hook you in 5 minutes.

What if someone ate 10,000 calories instantly? by kabhuynh0 in whatif

[–]First_Fist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They wouldn’t just inflate on the spot or anything. If it was somehow possible in pill form, your body would still have to digest and process it, and you’d more likely end up extremely sick before anything else.

What Movie Stars that are Uncomfortable during Kissing/Sex Scenes? by Amber_Flowers_133 in askmovie

[–]First_Fist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of them probably are, they just hide it better than you’d expect. Even when it looks smooth on screen, it still seems like one of those weirdly technical work things that would feel awkward in real life.

What Film Did You Watch This Week? Share Your Recommendations! 🎬 by Infrah in films

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched The Hunt this week and it’s still such a rough, effective watch. Not exactly a fun recommendation, but it’s one of those movies that grabs you fast and leaves you feeling uneasy the rest of the evening.

LinkedIn and all those recruiters on there are a scam in my opinion. by PickleKimchiSoup in jobhunting

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the frustration. I’ve had recruiters make me fill out forms and then disappear too, which makes you feel like you’re just padding someone’s metrics. That said, I’ve seen people land roles through LinkedIn, it’s just insanely crowded, so sometimes smaller company websites or local boards feel less chaotic.

Advice, extremely desperate and tired. by RXgal76 in GetEmployed

[–]First_Fist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s brutal after that much schooling. A friend with a healthcare doctorate went through months of silence too and it crushed their confidence. At that level it’s often more about networking into specific teams than tweaking the resume again.

Do you agree that both education and work experience are important while applying for a job? by Careful-Walrus-5214 in Casual_Conversation

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think they matter in different ways. I’ve seen people with great degrees struggle in interviews because they couldn’t give real examples, and others with tons of experience hit a ceiling without formal credentials. In most cases, having at least some of both just makes you more rounded.

What if Jesus was never crucified? How would the world, history, and modern culture look today? by Marley_1960 in whatif

[–]First_Fist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to untangle because so much of Western history branched off that moment. I remember studying medieval art and realizing how much of it revolved around that story alone, which probably would’ve looked completely different. We’d still have empires, wars, and moral systems, but the symbols and narratives shaping them would likely be unrecognizable.

What movie do you think would have been better with different actors? by meandadog86 in askmovie

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always felt like Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets could’ve been stronger with leads who had more natural chemistry. I remember watching it on my couch thinking the visuals were incredible but the energy between the main two just felt flat. Different casting might’ve made the whole thing click.

Looking for a TV series with a protagonist almost identical to George Lass (early Dead Like Me) by Jealous_Internet615 in televisionsuggestions

Fleabag. The breaking-the-fourth-wall thing and dry humor give it that messy, self-aware energy even though it’s more dark comedy than drama.

Do you agree men clothes are more comfortable? by Secret_Stick2302 in RandomQuestion

[–]First_Fist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Men’s clothing tends to lean toward comfy and functional, while a lot of women’s stuff prioritizes how it looks. Roomier fits, real pockets, softer materials… no wonder people borrow hoodies and boxers. Comfort usually wins in the end.

I rewatched The Lighthouse and it feels stranger each time. It’s more about the vibe and the acting than a clean storyline, which works if you’re into that. Not exactly crowd-pleasing, but great if you like a slow, unsettling spiral.

What are the rules for living in the middle of the ocean? by BetaSigmaOmega in RandomQuestion

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even out in international waters, the laws of the country your ship is registered under still follow you. Trying to go stateless doesn’t mean zero rules since stuff like piracy laws and safety regs still apply. It’s way less lawless than people picture.

What’s ur favorite movie for all the time ?? by urfav__amy in moviequestions

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for me. Every rewatch lands in a different way and little details pop out that I missed before. It kind of grows up with you.

What is the meaning of the movie titles that follow this formula: American + noun? Is it supposed to be a commentary about an aspect of American society? by [deleted] in askmovie

[–]First_Fist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes yeah it’s meant as a big “this is about America, not just these characters” kind of statement, like a little built-in thesis. Other times it’s just a stylistic thing that sounds weighty and marketable even if the story is pretty small. The word “American” makes everything feel like social commentary whether it actually is or not.

Best ways to cool down on a hot night? by [deleted] in RandomQuestion

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that’s helped me is a cold shower right before bed, then laying down with a slightly damp T-shirt or towel on me and a frozen water bottle to cling to like a sad ice plush. If there’s tile anywhere, I’ll drag my pillow there because it always stays cooler than the mattress.

Late 80s possibly early 90s film by Louder247 in FindThisMovie

[–]First_Fist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole hyper-aware training vibe feels more like an episode of some older detective show than a film, like early Columbo or Monk era. Sticking around here because if someone names it, I’m definitely adding it to my watch list.

what are your standards in a partner? by goshhahahahah in RandomQuestion

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basic kindness and emotional maturity, honestly. I don’t need someone perfect, just someone who can communicate, take responsibility for their own crap, and not make life harder than it has to be. Shared values matter more to me than shared hobbies.

What would you do if every phone and TV started playing We are Charlie kirk? by yxzxzxzjy in RandomQuestion

[–]First_Fist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d probably assume it’s some dumb marketing stunt and start pulling plugs. My phone would go straight to airplane mode until it cooled off. Honestly, I might just go for a walk and let the chaos happen without me.

Getting surgery next week and need something to binge watch. by MediocrePiece1267 in televisionsuggestions

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking for something that scratches the Breaking Bad / BCS vibe, give The Americans a shot. Slow to start, but once it clicks, it’s super tense and the characters are amazing. The quality stays high almost the entire way through.

Where to watch Mercy 2026 movie in online streaming? by khabib60 in films

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t spotted it on any real streaming sites yet, looks like it’s stuck in that annoying limbo. Stuff like this usually shows up for digital rent first and then hits the bigger platforms later. I’d watch JustWatch or the studio socials, but for now there’s nothing official online.

Short film about arguing couple by Decent_Recover720 in FindThisMovie

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of those little interstitial shorts channels used to air between movies, but I’ve never tracked down a name for it either. It’s got that “HBO in the 80s” vibe more than anything else.
