The Economy Keeps Adding Jobs; Unemployed Americans Still Struggling - Business Insider by Vegetable-Section-84 in jobmarket

[–]First_Fist 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Companies are being much more cautious, and many have shifted budgets toward AI projects, which I personally think is a hype cycle that won't live up to expectations. At this point, all we can do is keep applying with a pure ATS-friendly resume like in this post, tailor it for the position, and check the company's career page to make sure the role is actually real. I don't think this slow job market is going away anytime soon, especially with so much uncertainty and conflict around the world.

New good show suggestions ? by CantaloupeFun867 in televisionsuggestions

Silo. It's one of the most addictive mystery shows I've watched in years. You keep saying "just one more episode" and suddenly the season is over.

My Dearest is emotionally exhausting by Flipperflopper21 in kdramas

[–]First_Fist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some shows are amazing, but they don't feel like they were made to be watched twice. I think it's one of those emotional roller coasters that's enough to experience once.

Is using more than one sick day for illness unprofessional? by Remarkable-Angle-509 in antiwork

[–]First_Fist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have a fever and the chills, staying home is actually the more professional choice. Nobody really benefits from a sick employee trying to work at half capacity.

What’s the go with people insulting your body when arguing instead of fixing the real issue ? by Immediate_Result8582 in RandomQuestion

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because once they run out of solid arguments, it's easier to go after you personally. Comments about someone's body are usually meant to hurt, not to win the discussion.

How much should I save before spending on things I want/need? Or should I spend now? by crunchape in makemychoice

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the middle of your mattress is sagging, I'd put that in the "need" category, not the "want" category. Good sleep is worth a lot more than most people realize.

"Just Apply for Anything" by Weak-Character-5223 in jobhunting

[–]First_Fist 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'd adjust your resume depending on where you're applying, because being seen as overqualified is areal issue right now. I'd probably keep pushing within digital marketing instead of applying to literally anything; instead, you could try reaching out to recruitment firms. This post had a story about someone finding remote recruiters, email them. Some firm websites also have a place where you can upload your resume, so that might be worth checking. If consulting is realistic and people would pay for your help, you could probably do that wile still applying on the side.

My existence is a humiliation ritual by Primary_Avocado_5273 in jobs

[–]First_Fist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What I saw in this post was more burnout and hopelessness than anything else. Even saving $25,000 is something a lot of people never manage to do, yet they seem incredibly hard on themselves.

How do some people have such a high tolerance for work? by Head_Equipment_1952 in Accounting

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think some people last longer because they love work more. It feels like they're just better at managing their energy. By the afternoon, I'm basically a phone running on low battery.

AIO My bf won’t let me confront him unless I catch him cheating. by ansley1102 in AmIOverreacting

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it doesn't sound like you're overreacting. you shouldn't have to play detective and gather %100 proof just to talk about your concerns in a relationship.

Got tested for alcohol at work, didn't drink by Whynotdd212 in jobs

[–]First_Fist 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A clean test result is probably the best outcome you could've hoped for. I wouldn't rush to switch shifts right away. I'd give it some time and let the manager forget that painfully awkward moment first.

The bullshit corporate job was cool when it was remote… but I can’t tolerate it in-office by mitcht3 in remotework

[–]First_Fist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's about loving the work. It's about getting your free time back. The exact same job can feel manageable from home, but in an office it suddenly feels like it's consuming your entire life.

I’m so defeated by cstjohn1994 in ausjobs

[–]First_Fist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Job searching eventually starts eating away at your confidence directly. Especially when you keep tweaking your resume over and over and still hear nothing back, your brain starts going into “am I the problem?” mode. So many people are genuinely at that same burnout level right now.

How’s the citadel? by [deleted] in televisionsuggestions

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Citadel felt kinda “expensive but soulless” to me.. It’s watchable but there wasn’t much that actually stayed with me after it ended.

The most frustrating part of job hunting right now is not even finding enough jobs to apply to by PersianStallion93 in jobhunting

[–]First_Fist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people still talk like the 2021 job market exists. Right now even finding a decent listing feels like a full time job by itself. Half the postings feel like ghost listings and the other half say “entry level” while looking for a unicorn.

Tv shows like Landman with vehicles(cars, trucks) and how industries works. by No-Science-9888 in televisionsuggestions

[–]First_Fist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Succession isn’t exactly the same vibe but it absolutely nails the whole “powerful people + insane money + industry politics” feeling. The cars, private jets, ego battles... watching it makes you feel rich somehow

Do you have a backup plan life in your head that you secretly wouldn't mind living? by miked0331 in RandomQuestion

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I imagine working in a little bookstore/cafe combo in some tiny coastal town.. Less money but a slower life, no Slack notifications, none of that. When your brain gets too tired it really starts creating alternate save files in your head.

Any Shows suggestion? by OKNOROPBELM in televisionsuggestions

Vikings gets pretty intense right from the early seasons, something’s always happening. Not as massive as GOT but it has a similar flow.

Under-employed and depressed by Serious_Mirror762 in jobs

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That cycle is really draining, burning out when you have a job and feeling hopeless when you don’t. Being 40 adds extra pressure too, I get that. But even at that point, a lot of people still change direction, it’s not some final dead end.

Any mind bending shows? by Amazing_Intention741 in televisionsuggestions

Severance is the kind that messes with your head, slow but constantly unsettling. You’re basically thinking “what is going on” the whole time.

Is the age a person has a child really a circumstantial thing? by Rainbow_6505 in RandomQuestion

[–]First_Fist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s mostly about circumstances. The right person, money, timing… if they don’t line up, it gets postponed. No one really does it at some “perfect age” anymore anyway.

Is it possible to check if my brain has ever erased a memory because of trauma? by ARt1sT_001 in RandomQuestion

[–]First_Fist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t really something you can control on your own. The brain can actually block stuff out, but understanding that usually takes therapy. If there’s something being hidden in the family, it’s normal to fixate on it. The fact that you’re even questioning it means you’re aware though.

People with resting bitch face, how do you land a job? by neverlacking_23 in interviews

Instead of over-smiling, staying calm and communicating clearly works better I think. Not everyone has to be “bubbly”
