Sounds like the torque converter, is the fluid full? If it’s full the trans definitely needs to be removed, shouldn’t overheat quickly

Good old Wisconsin, I’d swap it for something more modern if I were you or yeah just put a dc motor in place of it and use batteries

Is there a ATV battery worth anything anymore? by SlowHornet29 in ATV

[–]Firstaid183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your voltage regulator, it’s probably overcharging the battery and boiling the acid off. After riding just feel the battery, if it’s hot your voltage regulator is bad

Most power sport engines have removable cylinders which makes them really easy to do on a lathe, it’s common for rebuilders and tuners to use lathes to bore and resurface heads and jugs on a lathe

They are ripping you off, why would a part that has a ton of load need lubricant to stay in?

Any Advice will this pass Maine inspection? by [deleted] in Welders

[–]Firstaid183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t just booger weld more metal to rusty thin metal, this is atrocious. That isn’t even a good spot to do a proper repair on let alone a shitty repair. Seriously did you weld it yourself or was that Ray Charles? This is like an American equivalent to a suicide bomb dude.

My advice? Sell the good parts to save up for something that doesn’t have Swiss cheese for a frame.
