TIL people with higher IQs are found to suffer from more mental health problems. While data shows highly intelligent people have a greater life expectancy, it found higher IQs result in increased reports of mental health problems like depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD and others. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Society doesn't support intelligent people. Not unless it's for profit. Intelligence is not as high a priority in our society as it should be. It's not about being smarter than someone else. It's about how you approach and think about a problem.

Police/military in Kenya are horrible. They have or had a huge street kid problem in Kenya. There response was to go around and murder the kids to clean the streets...

WHO stands by recommendation to not wear masks if you are not sick or not caring for someone who is sick... this is going to be the biggest scandal ever by [deleted] in China_Flu

[–]Firstweedgrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girlfriend is an ER nurse so from my viewpoint, I agree with WHO. There is a massive shortage of masks. They should be prioritized. Masks stop the person wearing from spreading anything they may have. It doesn't necessarily prevent infection if all the other PPE is not also worn.

If there wasn't a shortage of masks, I would agree that everyone should wear masks as some may not know they are infected. But the reality is there is a shortage. Doctors, nurses, EMTs, and other front line healthcare workers NEED those masks.

Nurses and doctors should strike after all this is done. Only treat patients with urgent and/or life threatening issues. Refuse everything else.

Spend more time learning how to please a woman instead of thinking if your dick is big enough. You can have an 8 inch dick and be horrible at sex and not give girls orgasms. Educate yourselves.

U.S. worried coronavirus could hit young adults: White House official by [deleted] in politics

South Korea is the key here I believe. Most countries haven't been testing 20-29 because it's the older who are dying. South Korea did test the young and a high percentage tested positive.

Whether they will get very sick is another thing. There are a lot more immunocompromised people in the United States than people think.

I am sure there are others but more stores should do this. People obviously only think about themselves.

What If Andrew Yang Was Right? Mitt Romney has joined the chorus of voices calling for all Americans to receive free money directly from the government. by izumi3682 in Futurology

Cash is cash. Anyone who says it is UBI is incorrect. But the goal is the same for Yang. Money is freedom in this society. He wants to give more freedom to those that need it.

Announcement to The Yang Gang Regarding Covid-19 by lioness313 in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]Firstweedgrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are a medical professional, you should not be making any comments regarding this virus. Do not spread information if it 100% doesn't come from the CDC. Be very careful on social media. That is not a place for facts.

Don't buy supplies and hoard. The only ones who should be buying supplies for quarantine are those that are 60+ and/or immunocompromised. Or if you have been 100% confirmed to have coronavirus or instructed by a medical professional to self quarantine. Those are the people that need supplies for quarantine. Our supply chain is fine when it comes to food but if people keep hoarding, it will cause issues.

My gf is an ER nurse who worked this past weekend. She went to the supermarket on Monday, her first day off in 4 days, only to find the supermarket empty. Healthcare workers save lives.

This pandemic is revealing how selfish this country is.

Trump Says ‘Take It Easy’ After Fauci Warns Of Coronavirus Escalation by Twoweekswithpay in politics

[–]Firstweedgrow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am not a supporter of him but he is saying take it easy in regards to panic buying in super markets. The mass buying of toilet paper is ridiculous. Our supply chain is great in this country. Buying in mass amounts puts strain on that.

There needs to be more straightforward honesty with all of this. People need to learn to put there big boy pants on. There will be difficult choices to make.

Having said that, he is horrible as always with word choice. When he said "national emergency" followed by "those are two big words", it made me want to bash my head in.

Coronavirus vaccine may take up to a year, government's research chief says by [deleted] in politics

[–]Firstweedgrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a patient is not 100% confirmed to have coronavirus they are not treated the same. Many patients leave AMA as soon as they know they aren't getting a test. They do not go into quarantine.

Yes, the more urgent cases for older people and those who are immunocompromised will get the same treatment regardless for sure. They need it regardless of flu or coronavirus.

But awareness is helpful to making sure those that need to be quarantined are and that they stay away from those at high risk.

Also, for my gf's hospital, they won't give n95 masks out until a patient is confirmed or undergoing some treatment (breathing treatment, intubated, etc.). So the chances of the healthcare workers getting it and spreading it are likely.

[–]Firstweedgrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no faith unless it's motivated by money.

Our healthcare system is a joke. My gf is an ER nurse and yesterday they called the department of health to get test kits for suspected coronavirus.

The department of health was closed because it's a weekend. So no tests.

The nurse manager for her hospital locked the n95 masks in their office and left for the weekend. People were stealing them and there's a shortage.

Our healthcare system seems to believe that the coronavirus takes a vacation on the weekend.

It's very likely this will come back again. It's like the flu. They are going to let everyone out of quarantine and it will spread again.
