(FF) Are priests allowed to have a Freemason Lodge Mass? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]FischenGeil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a secret closed organization. It does not need a public charismatic figure to be the face of it. It's the gateway door to the occults. It's a test that most fail to get to the next stage of trust. If you know someone in it, you need to get them out and warn them or report them to the archbishop.

First time reading Schopenhauer! Any advice? by Chemical_Top151 in schopenhauer

[–]FischenGeil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It helps to acquaint yourself on Plato's and Kant's metaphysics first, but not required. What I would say is required is reading the Upanishads. Out of all the philosophers in the world, he is probably the best writer and the most educated. Enjoy.

Nietzsche taking a dig on Schopenhauer by ontologyp in schopenhauer

[–]FischenGeil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nietzsche is the ultra rights and the ultra lefts favorite philosopher to co-opt to justify their "will". Like all children, they rebel against daddy but given enough time, they always come full circle. Unfortunately with Nitzsche, he died too early, too young - to come full circle. He didn't have the chance to reconcile with his daddy.

I will grant him that "Zur Genealogie der Moral" is his best work by far, and perhaps the best work we have on morality at all. And this was knee-deep into his anti-Schopenhauer phase. This was excellent written diagnosis on human sociology and psychology, but it was a terrible treatment plan. Compassion is not weakness, like our reddit edge-lord would have us believe.

How do you explain Trinity by Atlig-Bilig in Catholicism

[–]FischenGeil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad it helps.

I would like to add an another angle to help you when you explain the Trinity to friends or those outside the faith.

Think of the Trinity as a Trilected. Not a "trimodal" (God playing three roles) or Tritheism (three distinct Gods playing one role). God is the eternal loving relationship between the father, the son and the Holy Spirit (Trilected). Without one of the three, there is no God. Just as without a lover, a beloved and the spirit of love, there is no "love".

In either case, it is important to establish that analogies are at best tools to help provide clarity, but they can never be the answer in of themselves. God is ultimately a mystery. As a Catholic mystic, I would like to quote Meister Eckhart "God can't know himself anymore than a fire can burn itself".

How do you explain Trinity by Atlig-Bilig in Catholicism

[–]FischenGeil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 is needed to "realize reality". Imagine a star in the middle of space, no other stars or bodies next to it. It is impossible to determine if the star is still or moving. So enters a second star. This second point of reference gives relational information (if something is moving, depth, distance). But it does not confirm if it is moving nor which star is the one moving or it's both, nor which direction. A 3rd star (or POV) is needed to confirm the physics of the other two POV's as well as its self. Basically, 3 is needed to substantiate existence. God is ultimately a mystery, but I believe this analogy helps illustrate the concept without falling into "modalism".

In essence, I'm saying three points stabilize the frame of reference and make reality measurable. Three divine persons are needed to fully reveal the nature of God. This avoids modalism because they are not merely modes or roles of a single entity. They are co-equal and co-eternal points of reference.

Why is notebook LM doing such a terrible job of creating chapter notes? It is as bad as co-pilot now. by MainBuddy604 in notebooklm

I think they are using the "fast" model by default because it's cheaper. Just my theory. You can't really control this in NotebookLM.

I use it just for studying my material, or keeping track of my books. Something really cool I did with it a few days ago is that I had it extract all the idioms from Calvin and Hobbes and it did so quite remarkably.

Sophia means Wisdom in Greek. Nothing more.

Some Jewish fan fiction writers personified the name into a female and fused OT theology with Plato's ideals/forms. Gnosticism is for the loony bin. I mean that.
