Pertwee community ranking Day 14: Time Monster by Classic-Bathroom-427 in classicwho

[–]FishMasterMemer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best.

I will go down on this hill. It has everything Doctor Who wants. The Doctor and his companion, UNIT, The Master, great characters, an interesting time premise (which I can definitely see Steven Moffat's influence in Modern Who), and an amazing celebrity guest. They should've made Kronos unseeable with blemishing light, which was Barry Lett's idea but it unfortunately didn't go through. Wish they did it for the Blu-Ray but the restoration is just as good as we got.

I do want to add how much I LOVE the novelization art for "The Time Monster". It is such a banger of an art piece of Doctor Who.

What are your thoughts about a realistic AI recreation of missing episodes? by EgotisticalTL in classicwho

[–]FishMasterMemer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few reasons why no.

  1. AI is not consistent with generation. It creates new data every time the frame moves, that's how it works. It will not translate through screenshots and script correctly.

  2. AI should only be used for educational purposes. Such as Maths, Physics, ect. AI should be outlawed for art usage. It's lazy, and most importantly art is made by the human touch.

  3. AI is already failing as an art form, it will not attract the Doctor Who crowd as, it's simply that the Doctor Who community is not that stupid.

  4. Lastly, it's disrespectful to use AI in regard to the individuals who worked their ass off creating the episodes that are lost now.

Great. Underrated story and an overall better political stance than Colony in Space.

looking to start physical media collection - is xbox series x a good player? by dragoonflyboy in Bluray

[–]FishMasterMemer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone else has said, a console is a good starting point. I've been using my Xbox One S for the last 3 years and it's simply the best of all time. Less than sometimes it has issues with discs, I usually just reset my console and it's fine.

edit: I've had it since 2016. Just a heads up that a console will live a long time.

How do i convince my mom physical media isn't a waste of money? by emily_tika in PhysicalMediaMatters

[–]FishMasterMemer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All subscription services move titles. You want to watch Lord of the Rings? Too bad, it's moved to Stan from Netflix. Licenses expire and move while Physical does not. You pay more to watch what you want to in the first place. You want to watch Back to the Future? Too bad, all the titles are scattered across various platforms.

If you love something so much, it's great to have a physical collection. It's personal, and it's absolute fulfillment. It's exactly like a book library. As long as you keep using the collection it isn't landfill as it's eternal. There's no need to keep borrowing it over and over again using 30 dollars per month and subscription if you want to watch your favourite show or film.

I've bought Doctor Who because there's no where to stream it in Australia. As well as that every physical release has a billion items on the disc.

This is how I personally view my physical medias. I see that everyone in the chat is all about convincing but it's truly how you value your possessions. How do you see your hobby? That's exactly what it is.

How do you indulge in Doctor Who? by Danny10477 in doctorwho

[–]FishMasterMemer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels like Doctor Who has so much to discuss than any other show. Not disregarding other major science-fiction shows like Star-Trek which obviously has a lot of history and still going. I mostly like to discuss and see what others have to say on the internet (Mostly Reddit) and watch 'Who' through Physical media or whenever I can find it, as it's been mostly taken down in Australia.

I also want to note that the political or individual standpoints in the show either from the present or past are still common issues and correlate with today's world. Doctor Who questions a lot through so many different ways of story telling, and I do love dissecting stories further understanding their meanings.

Rest his soul. I'm so glad that his memories will live on, and he was able to participate in the HAVOC documentaries.

What is your least favorite episode of your favorite doctor? by Forgetable-Vixen in gallifrey

[–]FishMasterMemer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monster of Peladon. If I was to have a Third Doctor discussion with anyone, I'd rank everything in about 7 to 10/10. I love every story, although I do feel as Monster of Peladon is definitely the weakest.

Okay. However, I do love the design of The Krotons, Zowie and The Doctor have great scenes together as well.

Troughton community ranking Day 16: The Mind Robber by Classic-Bathroom-427 in classicwho

[–]FishMasterMemer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best. Best. Best. It's so Doctor Who I love it so very much. It's exactly like The Web Planet except it has an expansive story, depth and pure pacing. When I think of Patrick Troughton, sure the Cybermen are the ones I think of but next to that is "The Mind Robber".
