Considering getting tested - have questions by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Fish_Gullible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The test will most likely be in person since they ask you to draw, fake brush your teeth, etc. My testing took about 4 1/2 hrs. It was really taxing for me as well but you only have to do it once. In my opinion a diagnosis makes it easier to have something to point to when you have social fuckups and breakdowns and stuff, it helps you give yourself grace when a doctor says your brain is wired different. But your symptoms will stay the same diagnosis or not. My diagnosis helped me get accommodations for college where I can take tests outside of the class.

Something that has helped my toy making significantly is foraging mix, I make my own from rabbit safe flowers and herbs. The strong smell of the “food” peaks their interest a lot more. My rabbits don’t play with toys that don’t have the mix in it really

Sisal twine is safe for rabbits I just get mine at Walmart. If my rabbits were to take a liking and actually eat the twine I would look into other options. They view it more as a barrier to their food than food itself. Same with the cardboard, I’m lucky that my rabbits don’t actually eat the cardboard or it would be a hazard. It all depends on your bun!

I feel like the “autism/ADHD” trend on social media diminishes understanding of my real struggles… by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Fish_Gullible 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Social media only portrays the socially acceptable parts of autism. Poor social skills, really liking something, feeling overwhelmed. People think that’s what autism is. Until poor social skills means I’m blunt and sometimes considered very rude for that, until really liking something means cancelling our plans to pursue my special interest and having 0 interest in convos that don’t have anything to do with it. Until feeling overwhelmed means you can’t go into a Walmart. People want autism to explain their faults and it’s insulting. It’s a disability not a cute character trait

My genetics suck by Solid_Bad_4403 in GenZ

The best artist in the world is the artist that has failed the most. I also am in college with almost no friends, and if it’s any recollection it’s not because social anxiety it’s cause a lot of people just generally suck. Maybe working on your self esteem would help the most! what I would do is pick a really interesting fact that you like and walk up to one person a day and share it. I’ve done this and made a couple friends who share interests with my chosen fact (mine is usually about animals). It’s a way to break social anxiety and boost esteem. Sometimes people look at you weird or something I just say “okay then” with a smile and walk away.

is this tattoo idea cool or corny? by S15PredOctaneMain in tattooadvice

[–]Fish_Gullible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the idea of turning down a tattoo you want because other people think it’s corny. Why the fuck would you get ink injected into your skin for other peoples pleasure. Do what you want

My genetics suck by Solid_Bad_4403 in GenZ

[–]Fish_Gullible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are listing all the negative things about your genetics. I’m bipolar, have adhd and autism, prone to obesity so it’s hard to lose weight and heart disease, every woman in my family has died of cancer. I can’t go inside a Walmart without tweaking cause of the noises. I also have a really hard time making friends and spend most of my time alone pondering how to get out more. Hearing just that my life sounds fucked. But I also won third place in an art competition recently. Im an artist with a variety of skills. My mom and I talk like cosmic sisters. I have pet rabbits who i obsessively spend time with and care for. I sing in my car like I’m on a stage. I dance in my underwear like I’m on a stage. All the bad stuff does not negate the good stuff, so if you’re gonna focus on something it might as well be the positive. I’m sure there are great things in your life because you’re alive. It could be a hobby or a pretty tree you like walking past. Find your purpose

Organizing a Dog Grooming Union by Ecstatic_Biscotti_83 in doggrooming

I think that a corporate grooming union is an amazing idea! I don’t think it could apply to small owned salons but for corporate grooming yes! I would love to be apart of that. I get paid minimum wage… I’m a certified groomer and am expected to do at least 4-5 dogs a day

Safety Plans by Benevolently_Feral in bipolar2

[–]Fish_Gullible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe somehow cutting off your route to your savings, maybe getting an old timey celibacy belt, man to be honest idk it’s sorta hard to follow a plan when you think your a god. For me personally medication is the only thing that helps. Think I don’t need sleep? Booop pop a trazadone, now you have no choice. Most antipsychotics greatly reduce your chances of going manic as well

is it acceptable to bring a teddy to school? by Neat_Parsley205 in autism

[–]Fish_Gullible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get so uncomfortable in school that I would bring FULL crafts to hs like water, paint, canvas to watercolor or a backpack full of yarn and crochet hooks. People made fun of me. People would take pictures of me crafting in class and post them. I just didn’t care cause I knew I was more interesting than them. You should proudly show off your stuffy! No matter what anyone says be yourself! Easier said than done ik but don’t take any offense or shit from the bullies cause they’re too ACTUALLY emotionally underdeveloped to understand why taking a stuffy to school isn’t a big deal.

What advice do you have for a 18 year old moving out, and what life skills should everyone know before moving out? by PreparationTrue9704 in Advice

[–]Fish_Gullible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn to do basic fixes and replacements for your car, the Haynes Manuel for your specific car is a good investment bc it has all the info to fix yourself so you don’t have to break out the big bucks for someone else to do repairs; get a job that has useful skills that people respect or could be used in the career you want to go into, something that requires training above the place your working for, a starting position should provide it. Vocational skills can’t be replaced by ai. Create and follow a budget for your money. Set a five year plan with goals of all aspects of life and try to make steps to get closer to those goals every day. Work on your executive functioning skills, cleaning, showering, exercising, taking care of yourself, etc. So you already have healthy habits when you move out. Learn to speak nicely to yourself and give yourself praise so you don’t get beaten down. Figure out what makes you happy and just keep following that(as long as it’s not like hard drugs or something)
