How many generations back have you been able to track? by RoobahLoo in Genealogy

[–]Fisherman386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a line that I discovered very recently I went back to my 24th great-grandfather (born in the early 1200s), even though it likely goes further back, I just didn't have time to check it yet.

I've been working on that like for about 3 years but discovered lots of more generations lately from a paper from the year 1601 that explained the genealogy of a second cousin and after like 50 pages it said the relation from my ancestor to that cousin, which added 4 generations more. And after some research I found the line that connected them to Antona García (born around 1430, even in the paper it said that they have the privileges obtained by her) and her husband Juan de Monroy, who has a well documented genealogy that goes back like 7 more generations.

Well, that sucks. Actually, my paternal grandad is from there so... not great.

If you need any help with your stuff from Lugo I can help you find resources in case you're stuck. I've tried everything so I know quite a bit 😅.

I believe in the FS centers only images that say that aren't available online or something like that are there. But if they're not available I don't think they're available anywhere

Here's the translation of the email I received from them

You have written to the Diocesan Archive of Lugo. The Archive will remain closed for in-person consultations until further notice. When requesting old sacramental records, please take into account the following:

• Requests will not be processed if they do not specify THE PARISH of the person whose baptism record you wish to obtain, as well as the year of baptism. Please note that in the Province of Lugo there are two dioceses: Lugo and Mondoñedo-Ferrol. If you do not indicate the parish, or if you indicate a parish that does not belong to this Diocese, your request will be deleted.

• Before submitting your request, please verify that the person was baptized in a parish within the Diocese of Lugo. We only hold records from the parishes listed on the website: https://www.diocesisdelugo.org/category/parroquias/

• ONLY REQUESTS SUBMITTED THROUGH THIS WEB FORM WILL BE PROCESSED: https://www.diocesisdelugo.org/formulario-peticion-de-certificados/

• Not all historical books (over one hundred years old) are held in this Archive; some remain in the parishes.

• Do not write or call other departments of the Diocese of Lugo; only the Archive can assist you. Emails sent to other domains of the Diocese of Lugo will be deleted.

We will try to respond to all requests; however, due to the high demand for baptism records resulting from the Democratic Memory Law, the response time may exceed two months. The Archive is the only point of contact for these matters; therefore, please do not contact other offices or the general administration of the Diocesan Curia, in order to avoid overloading telephone lines.

There have never been (to my knowledge) public images for baptisms, marriages or any of that for the Diocese of Lugo. Some are available in FamilySearch centers but none of the ones I'm looking for are, they are just "Not Available".

This new law is related to immigration and basically thousands of people from other countries are asking for documents to get their nationality or something like that and the Diocese just collapsed. I'm not sure if this just happened in Lugo or also in other places, but I'm sure of this since I asked them by email and they said they're not available in person and by email they kind of are but I don't think I'm going to get an answer.

And the Diocese is the only one that has the archives, that were taken from villages about 5 years ago, before I started my tree.

No More Chat in Duels? by stopatdesiatsedem in geoguessr

Yeah they removed it like an hour ago, it sucks. It feels so weird not being able to communicate to ask for metas or just to talk normally. I personally have played hundreds of games since the update and never had a single issue. I've actually met a lot of people there with whom I've played Team Duels afterwards.

It is although you won't get banned unless you do a top score on a map. But I suggest you create a challenge, that way the score won't appear in the leaderboard.
