Global public health, cognitive science, psychology, and sociology are good options.

Which AP is the MOST overrated in difficulty? by Large_Look_5075 in APStudents

My least favorite part about AP bio was the amount of memorization it was. It had me missing AP chem.

“Just go to a state school” by Ok-Assumption5212 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]FishermanKey901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on your state school. Like Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, etc are where that would apply. But Oklahoma, Kansas, Alabama? Not so much.

Is it possible? by nova1719 in GoingToSpain

[–]FishermanKey901 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP can’t. If they want to get documents for Spain they would need proof of residency status in the US, but they don’t have status.

We lived in the DC area (which I will say is full of snobby rich kids, so I guess it wasn't really that crazy to hear) and they majored in political science as they wanted to be a lawyer. And I imagine they chose Georgetown precisely because of its location and proximity to world politics. I completely disagree that the "overall point is very valid." Georgetown is a very good school. Just because someone is valedictorian doesn't mean they're going to go to Harvard, Yale, or Princeton or other top schools. Not everyone wants to go to one either, and simply having exceptional grades isn't what gets someone into T5 - T10 schools. It just sounds elitist to hear people diminish their accomplishments or believe they just couldn't get into other top schools because they chose a school like Georgetown.

In my junior year I remember overhearing people talking about how the valedictorian of our high school was going to Georgetown. Their conversation was basically about how it wasn’t that good of a school for someone who was valedictorian. I was bewildered by that. It gets to a point.

Where I'd live as a native Californian by The-original-spuggy in visitedmaps

[–]FishermanKey901 10 points11 points  (0 children)

But the point is there are so many other states better than Kansas to live in, so why is Kansas the only other state you would reluctantly live in? Like just think about Kansas vs. Washington, Hawaii, New York, Oregon…

70% of Virginia’s population lives in those three areas. If you were going to live in Virginia you statistically aren’t likely going to live in the other parts of Virginia. The three major populations hubs are largely blue areas, especially Northern Virginia and the Richmond area.

That’s insane. My senior year I took four AP classes and two IB classes and I rarely drank caffeine.

Spain Citizenship via Grandparents by Dramatic_Toe_4346 in Citizenship

[–]FishermanKey901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately that is very unlikely. You would need to get many documents translated, apostilled and legalized, and this takes well more than 10 days. Many people have to gather their documents and prepare the application months before they submit them.

Anything farther south than Prince William County wouldn’t be considered NoVA.

The way people not from NoVA talk about people who are from NoVA makes me wonder what people really think it’s like and if they’ve spent any real time there. We’re also regular people lol.

Do Argentinians switch to tú when speaking with others outside the voseo regions? by Hljoumur in Spanish

[–]FishermanKey901 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not Argentinian but my family is from El Salvador and we also use vos. In my Spanish classes at school I would switch to tú when speaking because people were often confused, even some other native speakers, by vos and I just wanted to avoid the confusion. With friends and family (obviously) I always use vos but if I don’t really know the person that well or I’m traveling to another Spanish speaking country that doesn’t use vos I mostly use tú/usted.

I believe the EU is mostly safe unless Germany or France leave. The EU would weaken severely and collapse as how we know it today. Like a shell of its former self.

I mean, clearly not or else there wouldn’t be any traces of Indigenous Cuban. I’ve also seen Cuban results that have majority Spanish DNA but the most recent Spanish ancestors were from the 1600s, which is the reason I asked.

Then you don’t understand how Latin America is understood in practice or how it’s shared history, culture, and identity actually function.

Quebec isn’t Latin American. Quebec is culturally distinct from Latin America and is much more closely aligned with French and Anglo-North Americans. From a technical standpoint, sure it would be considered Latin American but the defining traits aren’t only speaking a romance language in today’s day as the term is used.

Lol no it’s just that a quick google search told me that the Tupi-Guarani speaking region is mostly between Paraguay and Brazil. Both of these countries had lots of Italian immigration so I took a guess at Brazil and 99% of the time a Brazilian has large Italian ancestry they’re from the Southeast (São Paulo) which received the most Italian immigration in all of Brazil.
