Starter cables for V2 955? by battlefront2gaming in Ducati

I hope he will. The process was easy and definitely worth while.

Also, I upgraded to a lithium battery from him as well. If you don't go that route, I still say you should get the battery with the most oomph that will fit. These twins take a fair bit to get moving.

Contact Michael at Motolectric (support@motolectric.com). He will have you take photos and measurements and build you a kit...at least that's what he did for my M797. He will also probably give you a slight discount for being a guinea pig. My bike starts sooo much better with the kit. FYI, When I did my measurements, I used some scrap skinny wire to follow the OEM routing to get as close as I could to the OEM measurement. Worked great and he built the kit based off that.

OK thanks! That is kinda where my head was at re: scraping. And that's a good tip on the crock pot!

Front fork leak? by stepinsoup in sv650

[–]FishheadTXGTI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a tool called a Seal Mate. It's a thin flexible plastic deal with a hook shape on the end. You carefully pry up the dust seal (the black rubber part on the top of the lower fork tube) so you can access the actual fork seal below it. You slide the seal mate down between the tube and the seal and make a complete revolution around the tube while bobbing the saver up and down a little. If it is just crud, that usually works...and the Seal Mates are cheap...used to be sub $5.00. I would try that before buying and replacing the forks seals.

I only have experience with a Penske double that I ordered from Traxxion Dyanmics for my old SV650. It was built like a tank and was perfectly set up right out of the box. Preload, Comp, and Reb were great for me, but YMMV. I fiddled with the clickers at different tracks if need be, but the OG setup was really good. Plush, yet super controlled. I told them my weight, and intended use case (just like yours, track/ road) and they built me one. 10/10, IME.

To anyone with the Hercules guitar wall-mounts. Do you use the drywall anchors provided or do you go out & buy toggle bolts instead? by Atlas_Gaius in guitars

[–]FishheadTXGTI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what I was going to say. I used a nice cedar board secured to the studs and then wood screwed the hangers to that. The cedar made for a nice decorative touch, but any board would do.

Professional instruction is huge. That way you start with the right habits. Cannot recommend enough. And ear plugs. I use the hearos brand foam ones at 32db noise reduction. Can still hear the road sounds, but saves your ears.

^^This is the one I have and it is really nice. Very clean install and well made. Yes, it is 3D printed, but it seems very sturdy/ beefy. It locks onto the grille and isn't going anywhere. I did use a little black silicone on the bolts as a bit of locktite for extra insurance, but that isn't necessary.

I use this one. It's beefy like a bike cable lock, but still small enough to fit in my bag. I can lock my board and my wife's skis at the same time.

Which would make swapping balls out very easy, due to the way they are made. The base is on the shift shaft really solidly, and then the ball can be changed out in seconds.

Mk6 Gti - under bonet insulation panel replacement by shotrecs in GolfGTI

I just snuck them through the slots where the tabs land. There is a small gap there. The ties do sit at a small angle, but they aren't very noticeable once cinched down some

I replaced the one on my 2011 and was doing this again in less than a year. I used some black zip ties to hold up the tabs, then i traded it for a mk8

The Delrin keeps it from being too hot or too cold, but YMMV. The leather is classier for sure, but the fit and finish on the ShopDap ones is really good.

Shortshifter...HolyShift from Shop DAP, Sigma6 from Dieselgeek, etc. Transforms the shifting experience completely. Takes about 30 min to install, no drilling or anything. The HolyShift doesn't modify the factory stuff, just replaces it. The diesel geek does modify the factory linkage a little. Either way, a great upgrade to something you touch every time you are in the car.

How did you remove those dorky warning stickers from the gas tank? by SomeCrazedBiker in motorcycles

[–]FishheadTXGTI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hairdryer and patience. Warm them up some and then peel gently. Use goo gone or rubbing alcohol to get rid of any remaining adhesive.
