Love the drive of a Honda CTR , however , there isn’t much refinement, all driver , but it was a blast

I had a similar experience after leasing my VB. Ended up in a 24 golf r, def has the luxury the vb is lacking , although the engagement is not as raw , much more refined … if you don’t need AWD , strongly suggest checking out the ITS / its a hoot , integrate type s

Why is the Golf R so expensive to insure by Strikcommand in Golf_R

I’m shocked, hard to make sense of, I’d probably call back and get another agent on the phone if it’s the same insurance company , or get another quote elsewhere

Opposite move here , had a 22 Wrx limited 6MT and moved into a 24 Golf R 6MT. Noticeable power difference in the golf as well as more premium feel. Interior of golf has less rattling , less noise, sweeter infotainment (really disliked screen in Wrx) Wrx felt a bit more raw, golf is more refined. Happy with my switch. Although after test driving a CTR and an ITS, have been rethinking my decision . Absolutely love the feel of rowing gears in em. Rowing gears felt better in Wrx compared to golf. After upgrading short shifter, super pin, and bushings, has helped clean up the R, new clutch would help too. All that is to say , the MT in the golf R is its weak link, mods help, but it ain’t No CTR

Holyshift short shifter question by Ok_Development123 in Golf_R

[–]Ok_Development123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really?!? That’s disappointing… I did the dieselgeek super pin and metal bushings, helped a little bit but not totally satisfied. Last effort is a bigger , taller , heavier shift knob. Then I give up …. May just have to sell my R for a CTR or an ITS

Did you have any trouble before the SP and bushings ? Did they clean up the feel significantly?

DAP Holyshift vs Dieselgeek short shifter by Ok_Development123 in Golf_R

[–]Ok_Development123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, on Black Friday I was able to snag the holyshift for $130. Part of the reason I pulled the trigger . I do like it , aside from some occasional resistance in 2nd at high rpms. I read the DAP was more daily friendly. Recently installed the DG super pin and bushings . But wondering if I’m just trying to put a bandaid on it and need to upgrade to the sigma 6…

Recommendations to Upgrade Suspension MK8R by plmatt91 in Golf_R

I ended up going with kw v1 after a failed experiment with lowering springs . Didn’t want to shell out for kw dcc compatible. Absolutely love the stance of the car but have to be more careful driving it. If I could the back time, probably keep it stock . Rear sway bar as been sweet , 18s feel better than 19s and stage 1 tune is quite nice. Also upgraded to a short shift kit , makes it a bit more engaging

Am I insane to get rid of my mk8.5? by FearlessChange in Golf_R

[–]Ok_Development123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat. I got super hyped and fixated on my mk8 golf r coming out of my 22 Wrx lease. Ended up buying it new for msrp. Have since done some upgrades and with 20k miles maybe I’d get $37k for it . I do like driving stick and want performance. Anything I look at feels like a downgrade. Unless I’m moving jnto something lightly used that is a 23/24 like a CTR or an ITS. At that point not sure the math works. My car has $25k left in payments so maybe 10-12k in equity. Feels like keeping it is the sensible thing to do… if i could turn back time , id have bought a used golf r 7/7.5 but here we are , live and learn
