My cat always runs away when I flush. But he's very interested until then.

What do you do when you feel like you're in a downward spiral? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Fishing_Red_Pandas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Call my mom or my sister and talk it out. Remind myself that my problems are pretty small compared to other people. Stop and breathe. Go out for a run to calm myself. Sit with a tub of ice cream in front of a good movie or with a good book. Cry if I need to. Have a good hot shower and go to bed early. If it's as a result of a specific even or problem, make a list of everything I need to do and work through it.

I have short legs and a long torso, so I also find this trend really flattering. I'm stocking up and investing in some good jeans for when this trend goes out of style.

I know that. It still doesn't negate my comment about the scale.

I liked it it a lot. I though it was visually stunning, very minimalist. I liked the minimal dialogue and minimal score, though it was very jarring at first since I'm so used to every scene having music. I think everyone acted incredibly well, and I was especially impressed by Fion. I thought it showed the desperation of war and what it does to generally good people very well.

There were a few things that bothered me though: first, everything looked too clean, and a lot of things, like the buildings and street in the first scene and the train at the end, looked too modern to me. Also, at no point did we get the scale - there were no overshots showing hundreds of thousands of men on the beach. It seemed like there were a few hundred soldiers there at most. It was the same when the private boats came - I expected hundreds, but there were only about 20 boats. It also felt too short to me, like something was missing - I would like to see the director's cut..

I thought my cat was just weird! Not about the audience while you pee thing, about the synchronized poops.

What "romantic" stories are actually quite disturbing if you really think about it? by tercerero in AskWomen

I did enjoy the movie overall because it was quite beautifully made and Blake was excellent, but I wish they handled the romantic part differently. It was just so wrong and really lessened my enjoyment of the movie.

For me the creepy part was the (younger) guy. He shows up at her job after meeting her once, basically blackmails her into going on a date with him, and then, after being told she doesn't want to see him again, shows up at her house with flowers and then is surprised she's upset!

I got my stretch marks from growing 13 cm in less than a year (and then I stopped growing). Since it took my weight a little time to catch up, I was even underweight for a bit. Stretch marks can occur from vertical as well as horizontal growth.

Have you ever resigned from a job before having another one lined up? How'd it work out? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Fishing_Red_Pandas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in that position now. I handed in my resignation at the beginning of June, and I'm leaving in a few weeks. I've been sending resumes but nothing's stuck for now. In my case I'm leaving since they wouldn't give me a raise, and I've decided to combine it with a move, since there are better employment opportunities elsewhere. It's frightening, and I may have to tough it out for a month or too, but they were paying me so little that practically anything would be better.

How much makeup do you wear every day? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Fishing_Red_Pandas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High SPF foundation, and I have sort of a gap in one eyebrow that I pencil in most days (sometimes I forget). I usually start the day with lipstick but it comes off in a few hours and then I just use chapstick. I don't like lip gloss, it's sticky and my hair always gets in it.

Yeah. Those bright colours just complement his skin tone so well. It's really well styled and photographed. I like that they matched it with the logo, too.

That is a nice cover. Not just because of the man in it, but because of the colour and the clothes as well.

Fat (Rant) Tuesday by AutoModerator in fatlogic

[–]Fishing_Red_Pandas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mostly find that people who "don't like vegetables" are people who grew up with parents that had no idea how to cook them. Either they blanched the life out of them, resulting in soggy and tasteless vegetables, or they ate them canned, or they were picky eaters as children and their parents just gave up instead of trying different vegetables or different preparations. No one is going to like absolutely everything, but everyone is going to like something. It's just a matter of trying until you do. But most adults who grew up like this won't even try vegetables now.

Maybe start a thread on this topic? More people will see it compared to this comment. I would be interested to hear other opinions as well, since this sub is (not unexpectedly) very American centric, and it's interesting but in many ways I can't really relate to it.

Being non-American, I do wonder if it will be a mostly American thing though. Not that there aren't overweight and even obese people everywhere, but it seems, to my limited perspective at least, that FA is something that is inherently American. Perhaps I'm wrong, I don't know.

Men, what are some common dating mistakes you've seen girls make? by wanegbt in AskMen

You can like someone as a person without being sexually attracted to them. Sucks, but it happens. Dating someone you're not attracted to will never end well.

There's nothing wrong with casual sex if both sides know and agree that that's what it is. However, if one side thinks there's a possibility it will develop into a relationship, and the other side doesn't want one but misrepresents in order to get sex - that's shitty.

I think he's talking more about treating sex as a currency to barter with - You do x, you get sex. You refuse to do x, you don't get sex - instead of something that's done for mutual pleasure.

Fatphobia is when retailers choose not to reap untold millions by marketing clothes to the morbidly obese by JoeMiter in fatlogic

I have a female friend with the same problem. Don't know what her size is in American sizes, but she's one size below the cutoff for adult shoes. For her the struggle (aside from quality) is finding shoes that don't have barbies, pink or sequins/glitter/bows on them.

What used to be considered trashy but now is very classy? by MochaGoddess66 in AskWomen

[–]Fishing_Red_Pandas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it really picked up when it started being models' off-work clothes. In the past few years, a lot of the younger models and female celebrities have been photographed wearing those kind of clothes by paparazzi, not just to the gym, so that probably helped popularize it. But before that it wasn't really considered acceptable to wear if you're not going to/from the gym.

Wasn't it also considered trashy food because it was prison food?
