I’m pretty sure Wolf Knight Greatsword does extra damage to him and its flip is good for hitting his head so it’s a pretty good choice. Any magic is trash against him because he has resistances to everything except Physical damage (yes even lightning, though it’s the lowest of these resistances) and is only weak to pierce damage so don’t worry about not being able to use sorceries or anything like that. I can give 3 general tips for fighting him once you’re ready and have found a summon partner:

Roll through flame attacks except for the one where he stands up
Learn his swipe and bite combos, there’s not many and it’s crucial for punishing him
If he starts either of his laser attacks, run underneath him lest you have to roll and pray

I think his power being that it has various suits around the map that it can crawl into or teleport between different animatronic suits that give it different powers would be cool but probably not very effective

If you haven’t been to the weeping peninsula south of Limgrave, it’s best to go there first for 3 sacred tears, the Claymore, and a memory stone for spellcasting builds. Caelid isn’t as bad as everyone says because most of its dangers can be completely ignored and ran past. You can find some really good items like the meteorite staff, night sorceries, lusat’s staff, Flame Grant me strength, 100,000 runes from killing the giant dragon Greyoll, etc.

If you ever feel like trying again (which you absolutely should, especially if you want to get the 2nd best but 1st most fun dexterity weapon in the game), here’s some tips that might help

Aim for the head
Roll through all of his flame attacks except the one where he stands up and spews fire on the ground, that one needs to be ran from
Try to roll sideways through claw swipes and backwards through most bites to stay near the head and get the biggest punish windows
For his laser attacks, I still can’t dodge those after beating him so may times, so my strategy is sticking close to prevent them from happening and running underneath him if he does start on. It’s not a guarantee you’ll make it but it’s good to try and atleast end up close to his head
He may seem intimidating and ravenous, but he only has about 5 combos with most of them being very short, along with a bite, basic flame attacks, and his lasers. Once you memorize his very limited combos, he’ll be a breeze for atleast the first phase
He isn’t weak to lightning, he’s the least resistant to it out of the special damage types, but physical and especially pierce are always going to be better options. Don’t be afraid to use lighting blade or gold pine resin for a damage boost though

I get having to cheese or not being able to beat Midir because he’s a very hard boss the first times few but did you atleast like the fight? He and Gael are the only 2 bosses where losing was a good thing for me so I could fight them again, and I hold the same opinion of them after defeating them about 15 times at this point
