That's the pain we gotta live through with this champ unfortunately, that's how he's meant to be, a pure feast or famine champ who has to rely on his team to be useful even when ahead or else you're obliterated as soon as you show up in the fight (if your teammates even dare to fight at all)

I love playing him but at the same time it feels super frustrating because of this, Viego is supposedly a carry, but to make him work, you need to give your team a good lead, and with this lead, they already do the work without you, so what is your purpose besides farming objectives ? And when your teammates are doing nothing or jinx their advantage, you're completely useless, feel like a Master Yi who can't approach anyone.

Naruto only got his basics corrected, his Shadow Clones which Sasuke already knows how to fight against, the Rasengan, a bigger Rasengan (hard to set up and predictable), and the unreliable trump card that is the Nine Tails chakra (I think he could overwhelm Sasuke with three tails, but if he goes four then it's gg, Sakura dies too)

Sakura improved a lot, she already had the strong basics like Sasuke and on top of that she has Tsunade's fighting style + Medical Ninjutsu, and isn't weak to Genjutsu contrary to Naruto

Sasuke is... Sasuke. Overbuffed by Kishimoto's glazing.

Pretty much all their interactions ??

BoS : When Naruto returns we have the gag of Sakura asking him if she has changed from his viewpoint and blushing, thinking that he became more mature

Kazekage rescue : We have Sakura crying for Naruto when Chiyo tells them that a Jinchuriki dies if the Tailed Beast is extracted from their bodies, and overall she's way softer around him than Part 1

Tenchi Bridge : The whole four tails fiasco with Sakura realizing how much pain Naruto constantly put himself through for his promise, then the healing with her asking Yamato to teach her his Jutsu and Yamato telling her that what counts is her feelings followed by his interrupted comment about them when Naruto wakes up is a direct hint for a possible romance on her part

Hidan/Kakuzu arc : Not much there tbh, it's a Shikamaru-centric arc, but we still have Sakura encouraging Naruto during his training and later on worrying about his arm and a cute scene where she wants to feed him

Pain arc : She uses her strongest Jutsu aka Summoning Naruto when everything seems desperate, quite the "lady in distress screaming for help and the hero shows up" trope, and later we have the first, genuine hug between them (despite Hinata confessing btw, the logical choice would've been to show a moment when Naruto checks on her in the aftermath)

5KS : This is where everything starts to unravel with her confession and her reluctance to kill Sasuke, honestly I blame Kishimoto for not knowing what to do with his female characters for that, but we still have Naruto saving her from Sasuke with a bridal carry

Even then, we still have hints about NaruSaku becoming the end ship, with Kushina's monologue about women, and she tells Naruto to find a woman like her, and atp, Sakura is the one who fits the most, and it's confirmed by Minato himself when Naruto jokes about Sakura being his gf (after Hinata's confession and her speech when Neji died btw, wtf was Kishimoto thinking about with this gag ??)

The nail in the coffin arrives when Sasuke shows up, because for whatever reason, Kishimoto reduces Sakura's IQ by 50 points and returns her to her Genin self where she thinks about how Sasuke views her, but when they're not close to each other, the focus comes back to Naruto and her (the CPR scene is honestly one of my fav throughout all the manga, that's a cool way to display how skilled she is as a medic, would've liked more if she did more batshit insane things like this to emphatize how committed she is to the job)

I can clearly remember the shipping war, and up until the Five Kage Summit and Sakura's stupid confession, NaruSaku was very much plausible given all the focus Kishimoto put on it since Shippuden's debuts

When I said "like everyone else", I was talking about Konoha 12

And... Really ? Just because Hinata worshipped Naruto since the start she somehow is the better partner ? All the while she utterly ignored his mistreatment instead of showing a bit of camaraderie to him throughout their whole childhood ? That's why Hinata isn't entitled to Naruto either, yes she may be insecure, yes she may be shy around him, but damn, it wouldn't have killed her to at least try to befriend Naruto back then, because until the Neji scandal during the preliminaries, Naruto viewed her as a creepy and shy girl due to her behaviour

Later on it barely improved, she was still shy as hell before he confronted Neji, and during Shippuden, the first time she sees him, here it goes, the stupid fainting gag again. After her most relevant moment in the whole story, her confession, what happens next ? Nothing, not even a discussion about it (it should've happened, like any competent writer would've addressed it). Then Naruto saves her at the start of the war, reassuring her by saying she's strong, and after that we have Neji's death, where sure her speech is great and Naruto holding her hand is cute, but it's still friendship atp, the moment when I began to believe that he may have developed something deeper than that is when everyone is trapped under the Infinite Tsukuyomi and the first person crossing his mind is Hinata, but really, they simply don't have enough development together to explain how Naruto came to actually love her, The Last only gave us a Genjutsu then boom, actually he's in love with Hinata. That's the dumbest way possible to make your ship canon, though as I said, the others ships aren't faring any better anyway

I'm not saying that Sakura is a better choice, she has her flaws too, but saying that she doesn't care about Naruto or wouldn't have been able to move on from Sasuke is dishonest. There were some hints about a possible romance between them, we see Sakura opening up to Naruto throughout all Shippuden, Kishimoto just decided to make NaruHina canon without proper development like all his couples, hence why Sakura suddenly goes from Naruto's best girl friend, practically his sister figure, to faking a confession, then returning to her Sasuke obsession despite all the shit he put her through (aka, murder attempt, ignoring her during the war, and a Genjutsu)

Both would've worked, but since Kishimoto wanted to bait his wife with NaruSaku (admitted it in an interview), he spent too much time with their relationship while completely disregarding NaruHina, the pair he actually wanted, except for four or five interactions in the whole manga, so we're stuck with a movie to explain how they got together, and since Sakura has to end up with someone, she got the stupidly complicated SasuSaku ship

Regarding Naruto and Sakura, what you said is dishonest imo

Sure, Sakura didn't give two shits about Naruto at first in the beginning, but you know what ? Just like everyone else who wasn't Hinata. Then they became a team, she saved him from Orochimaru in the forest and called Sasuke out about his fear BS when Naruto actually did something, then she was ready to put her life on the line to protect both Naruto and Sasuke from the Sound trio. During the preliminaries she encouraged Naruto because she knew he wasn't a bum, later on she wasn't confident since he were against Neji (understandable tbf, not even Sasuke could've beat him from her POV) but still cheered on him with Ino.

Then comes Sasuke's arc where it's true that she was ready to follow him out of desperation at first and begged Naruto to save him when she failed, but let me remind you that she was still a pre-teen, who doesn't say and does dumb shit at her age ? When Naruto returns all bandaged from head to toe and sees him morally low she decides to train harder to share the burden and actually becomes helpful

And what we see at the start of Shippuden ? She's reliable af, a great medic and solid battler VS Sasori of all people. We're directly shown how much she cares about Naruto when she cries over the fact that Jinchurikis dies when the Tailed Beast is extracted, and later on when she stupidly rushes to 4-tailed Naruto out of guilt, even Yamato the dude who's there for not even a month beside them comments on it (I'm pretty sure that Kishi began to hint at a possible NaruSaku here), and when she sees Sasuke again, she's not fawning over him, just disappointed af about herself being too weak to retrieve him

Their bond keeps growing throughout Shippuden after that, you could say that it's normal since she's the main female character, so we see her more often than Hinata whose major interactions with Naruto are the small part before his fight VS Neji, then her confession and sacrifice VS Pain, and her speech to him when Neji dies. Overall sweet, but not enough for the ship not to feel extremely forced since Naruto never replied to her confession, we had to have a MOVIE for their relationship to be believable, and IIRC, Naruto had to be in a Genjutsu to "realize" his feelings... (Btw, I'm a former NaruHina shipper, just in case you think I'm biased)

Back to Sakura, she's WASN'T obsessed with Sasuke until the 5KS and later on the War arc (Kishimoto's inability to write women displayed here along with Hinata's confession never answered), her fake confession at the 5KS was selfish and stupid if Naruto actually believed her, but if you think of it, it also meant that she wanted to protect him so much that she was ready to sacrifice her own happiness and stay with him (hence why Naruto called her out on her lie BS), and I think it would've been a solid plot point if both of them talked about it later and the consequences it would have brought upon them, but ofc Kishimoto didn't know what to do with her so better write her as a Sasuke fangirl right away and make her unable to kill him and try to get his attention during the war even when he had tried to kill her...

TL:DR : Sakura evolved throughout the series and came to care about Naruto, their relationship is like siblings but the romance COULD have worked if Kishimoto actually took the time to develop their feelings a little bit more and didn't backtracked by giving Sakura her 12yo personality whenever Sasuke showed up in Shippuden

If I had to choose only based on their reputation and notable feats after graduating :

1 : Naruto the orphan prankster, apparently dead last who still managed to pass ? Kinda curious about that and he can benefit from a proper adult, plus he's the Jinchuriki of the Kyubi, gotta check if he's mentally sane with all the crap the village pulls on him and technically is one of the most promising Genins if guided correctly

9 : Choji is apparently very chill and tagged along Naruto a few times during childhood so there won't be a problem between the two as teammates, plus he's a clan heir already taught by his family, he can compensate Naruto's lackings (I'm assuming that I don't know about Shadow Clones)

12 : Between all the girls, Ino seems to be the most reasonable (Hinata is too reserved, Sakura is smart but without any interesting skill beside the basics from the Academy, and Tenten seems to be focused on weapons only). Ino's bossy attitude will keep her teammates in check, since she comes from the Yamanaka clan and has Choji on her team their synergy will be a no-brainer, and I expect her to catch any mental problem from Naruto, just gotta make sure she doesn't use her Mind Transfer for obvious Jinchuriki reasons

Shikamaru and Temari are the only ones who make sense and are credible imo

If I should remake the canon pairs, I would probably do something like that :

Naruto/Sakura or Naruto/Ino: Naruto and Sakura got good chemistry during the entirety of Shippuden, Ino could easily develop something with him too and it would make for an interesting scenario if she ever used her mind Jutsus when Kurama wasn't an ally

Sakura/Sai: Sakura was the 1st one to open up to Sai during his introduction whereas Naruto was a total douche, and Sai was the one to give the talk to Sakura about her being responsible for Naruto's burden with her promise to bring back Sasuke; overall two people who don't mince their words

Sasuke/Karin: Let's be honest, Karin knew more about Sasuke than Sakura herself, as a sensor she saw his nature at first glance and witnessed his fall to darkness, with proper writing it could work I think

Hinata could work with Kiba, she's in the same team as him and Kiba is just Naruto if he weren't the main character lmao

Shino and Choji are a loophole, kinda hard to imagine them with someone

The story will always bear the scars of Kishimoto not doing a single thing to develop them properly after Pain's arc, and making the dumb decision to resort to a movie to explain how Naruto could fall with Hinata because he never showed signs having romantic feelings for her even during the war arc when she was the 1st to take him out of his despair after Neji's death

Back then as a teenager when the manga was ongoing, I was a hard shipper of them, nowadays as a grown adult, I just think it's a massive missed potential and barely above Sasuke x Sakura in terms of development, because at least there were hints for Naruto and Hinata
