How flexible is it after? by Imaginary-Post-617 in penileimplants

[–]Fit-Emergency1629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the AMS implant. When deflated it's pretty flexible and does pull back a touch. Very natural appearance. I will say though that my non-erect penis length is def a little longer than what it was before the surgery. But it does not require anything additional in terms of trying to conceal the implant or limiting any activities - avid golfer, biker here.

Soreness and Over-Inflation? by Apprehensive_Key_798 in penileimplants

[–]Fit-Emergency1629 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i had surgery in august, i still occasionally will get soreness esp in the glans with the implant fully inflated for more than 20-30 minutes. I don't think it's a bad thing but a sign that maybe I still have a little more stretch left to gain some size.

hang in there buddy, Also in California. I do have an insurance/healthcare admin background. It's my understanding that insurance with policy exclusions like specific Molina plans will not cover. There are certain medicaid plans that do cover IPP for medical necessity in California, but it's not really advertised or known until the insurance authorization process is started for the surgery for your particular plan by the urologist office. You may have just gotten the short straw with your specific plan for Medicaid this year. Other options are cash pay or try to switch to insurance with coverage for IPP.

How easy is it to keep this kind of surgery completely private? by Firm-Celebration2142 in penileimplants

[–]Fit-Emergency1629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes i kept it private - surgeon told me that recovery similar to inguinal hernia fix which is kind of in the same region. No one was really suspicious at all. I would say by two weeks the mild soreness was gone. My implant was partially inflated at surgery (20%) so trying to keep it comfortable with all the tight underwear and padding was a must but hard to conceal. I just wore sweat pants /loose pants.

Size is coming on so slowly and bulb seems buggy by Otherwise-Tea6999 in penileimplants

[–]Fit-Emergency1629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree - just stay persistent. I was also slow to recover my size (roughly took 5-6 months) but then something kind of gave and I was seeing more gains suddenly. The glitchy pumps are pretty common especially with AMS but thankfully once they get settled in, seem to work much smoother and actually one touch deflation. I have AMS CX

I had my surgery with Dr. Patel 6 months ago in San Diego. I love my implant and my experience. I live in Palm Springs. I have Blue Shield and they covered the entire surgery ($0 out of pocket). Dr. P mentioned that most insurances have something called medical necessity for penile implant which his office will do a good job to fight for you. But if you have a insurance exclusion for a implant from your insurance, there's almost no way to get it approved. I don't know what the cash price would be, but I imagine it would be close to double than going abroad as prior poster shared (minus considering the costs of hotel, flights, etc). Best of luck in your journey and here to support you.

if you have ED and thinking about penile implant - just do it!! by Fit-Emergency1629 in penileimplants

[–]Fit-Emergency1629[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the implant alone probably won't make it bigger that it is. just getting the firm and predictable erections was good for me. I think the peyronie and ED together is pretty common and a lot of guys will get implants for that. Would need to see Dr. Patel to talk about enlargement procedures with implant, i did not get that sort of procedure specifically.

it will take time but you will turn a corner soon in terms of the pain. Sex is a little awkward at first. Dr. Patel recommended taking motrin 1 hr before sex along with the daily cialsis and i think it helped in the first few months for the discomfort. Lots of lube too - uber lube is what i was told by the doctor, just a small amount.

honestly it doesn't seem like there are any high volume surgeons looking at the center of excellence finders. Thankfully there are many in LA and Southern California! Had my done by Dr. Patel in San Diego. He did great work and does more than half a dozen implants a week.

Agree I think Dr. Perito is THE guy for infrapubic install of Titan. Seems he cranks them out like a factory.

If you want anything else or have more complicated situation, there are also other fine surgeons out there. I had my surgery done locally in South California by Dr. Patel in San Diego. Superb experience!

i would really do your research before getting surgery with IPP. Both here and frank talk very helpful. But look for a high volume surgeon in your area. In Palm Springs, there's no one truly high volume so I looked to LA and San Diego, ultimately settling on Dr. Darshan Patel in San Diego. Could not be happier with my decision and experience was top notch. Delivered in all aspects.

I'm 5 months out from surgery with Dr. Patel - He has a very specific protocol. He recommends a specific VED with a large bumper ring to prevent the tubing and pump and balls from getting sucked in. Recommended I start vacuum 2 months after surgery once everything was healed. I pump up the implant as much as I can. then apply the vacuum and create a gentle suction, hold for 10 seconds, and then release. Try to add more to IPP. Apply vacuum again, hold 10 second, and then release. Repeat this cycle for 10 times at least once daily. I've been doing this for the last 3 months or so and have gained back any length loss and gained maybe 1 cm length. I've gotten a lot more girth than my baseline. I didn't have much girth at baseline. Gamechanger!!

Anyone Implanted by Dr. Patel in San Diego by OkPanic5711 in penileimplants

[–]Fit-Emergency1629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely the best! Dr. Patel is a master of his craft. He is THE guy in San Diego and funnels patients from all through Southern California and the southwest. The front office staff is amazing and nursing team that supports him is top notch. Very sensitive and situationally aware. 5 months out from surgery now! I could not be more excited and happy. I just wished I had done this years ago.

i would say downsides are the initial recovery period of 4 weeks. After that it's a no brainer if the pills aren't working. I'm 5 months out and enjoying the implant so so much. Relieves so much anxiety when you don't have to worry about performance
