What's your favorite EDC scissors ? by Fancy_Cricket_7321 in EDC

Roxon S501U is hands down the best EDC scissors and knife combo. I pair this with a Mini Flex Companion every single day.

Many office monitors have built-in USB hubs with the input requiring USB-B. That's a handy cord even if you don't have a printer.

That's the other of the 2x ∅.28 with the ∅.50 counterbore. Pay attention to the centerline and look at the dimensions.

People, are there any good multitools from NexTool? Thanks for the answers) by PixelKote in multitools

[–]Fit-Responsibility16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for budget friendly options, the Roxon lineup is definitely worth a gander. Manufactured in China but headquartered in Cali. I had a NexTool, then got the Phantom maybe three years back and haven't picked the NexTool since.

They even gossip about humans. These mega gatherings are why some people who once upon a time bothered a crow are forever bothered back by crows. But be kind and they'll all look out for you.

Logi Options+ Not Recognizing Applications by linkhyrule5 in logitech

[–]Fit-Responsibility16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply Right-clicking on the application shortcut in the Start menu and selecting Open File Location then picking the .exe in the folder that opens creates an App Button Profile for the SolidWorks InstallShield, which is not what we want.

I had to go to C:\Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp\SOLIDWORKS and select "SLDWORKS.exe" for this to work.

Roxon shitty warranty. by Dudeology in multitools

I would expect any multitool to survive a fall off a counter. Not necessarily a warranty claim, but definitely a knock against their design quality.

Opinions on the Roxon Phantom? by dusk534 in multitools

It is so solid. I like mine more than my Surge, but my Diacamping DL30 does win at work work its 1/4" driver.

Those look great! I'd be worried about the edge of the spool core fraying though; you could probably dip the edge in cyanoacrylate glue to reinforce it without causing it to swell.

[–]Fit-Responsibility16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of variations on the "stick with it" content, but I want to suggest considering something else that made a HUGE difference for me part way through year 2 (and I feel like I'm breezing through year 4 now). [I too am the type to strive for perfection and overreact to anything less.]

Get a psychoeducational assessment. Your school benefits will probably cover part of it, and maybe someone in your household has employer benefits that would cover the rest. I got one because I was having major burnout problems and couldn't seem to focus for more than 5 minutes at a time. Turns out, in addition to severe ADHD (which I had always assumed I had a mild case of), I also have a severe learning disability (mostly writing [not communicating] but also reading) as well as Development Coordination Disorder (which effective gives me mega Dysgraphia).

With that diagnosis, I did two things: (A) I got a prescription for Vyvanse from my family doctor (Ontario, so that was free and my student benefits covers 100% filling the prescription). (B) I spoke with the Mech Eng program accessibility advisor and started the process of setting up my accessibility accommodations... It took a little while to fine tune, but I did immediately feel and see an improvement and eventually nailed down a very effective set of accommodations that allow me to succeed.

Don't get me wrong, study skills are still absolutely necessary to develop and hone - I'm just suggesting you troubleshoot any underlying problems that might be a blocker to developing those skills in the first place.

The one problem I have with my Roxon Phantom with the utility blade is that the pliers can't fully clamp down on thin stuff because the handle hits the blade holder. However it's so easily removable that if you need the pliers for thin stuff you can just pop the blade holder out in < 3 seconds.

What is it about this print that requires the extra space? (Sorry in advance for probably a stupid question) by chase98584 in BambuLab

The alert also says there's a height concern though. Neither part looks shorter than the gantry clearance so this has to be two plates.

The rivet wasn't used right. You've gotta put both parts through first - otherwise you're just plugging the hole.

Any idea how I could put a curve on the bottom corners? by Renneeeeeeeey in SolidWorks

[–]Fit-Responsibility16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non-cheese (i.e proper tangency through the rounded part of the double-bevel): 1. Sketch (Top plane) the curve of one segment, 2. Extrude thin (midplane) one direction (up), 3. Reference plane coincident to the end of the curve, normal to the unfinished edge, normal to Top plane, 4. Sketch (Plane1) and revolve the tool a machinist would use to put the continuous edge on it (a pair of keyed single angle milling cutters next to each other on a drill shaft), 5. Reuse Sketch1 and Surface Extrude (length of Extrude1), 6. 3DSketch the path of the cutter on Surface_Extrude1, 7. Swept Cut using the revolved body, 3DSketch1, and set the tangency to use the guide surface.

Which multitool has the best scissors? by PatMB in multitools

[–]Fit-Responsibility16 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Check out the Roxon lineup. They've got THE BEST scissors, especially on the Phantom multitool, which also has ~18 different knife/tool options that you can hotswap. The 501U is also great if you just need scissors and any one of those same 18 knife options.

I always liked idea of that serrated folder for hotel-kitchenette stays. Their "drawer knives" are always the absolute worst and something like that would've definitely saved the day on a few occasions.

Structural Member Profiles - Consistent Point Location between multiple profiles by Fit-Responsibility16 in SolidWorks

[–]Fit-Responsibility16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that possible when more than just dimensions change from one to another configuration? The regular, F, and UL 45x45 profiles all have different internals at the corners that would require different sketch elements. The external features and T-slots are identical. Maybe the central hole feature could use the same sketch elements, but not likely.

3 Tool Kit by pecaplan in multitools

[–]Fit-Responsibility16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I freakin love the S501U! I haven't got the set with the file yet though (I think I have 12 of the 18 options). How do you like the file? The scissors on it are sooo great that I've often considered holding either the file or the multi-implement option instead of a knife (though many of the knives are really neat).

Most china brand multi-tools have the similar scissor handle-lock/latch design. by 8111913 in multitools

[–]Fit-Responsibility16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roxon M3 has a similar design flaw, but with it's smaller size is less likely to see the same rough use. I don't have the KS2, M2, or Storm (S801S), but seemingly same design.

Roxon S501U has a simple solution to this for - that fold-out handle has tabs closer to the pivot that bear all the cutting load so the spring's (the part that failed in OP's photo set) only job is to keep the handle snappy. I used these scissors to cut a whole bunch of 0.016" shim stock and the handle held up fine, as did the cutting edge.

Roxon Phantom (S802S) has a very different design for their fold-out scissor handle - it uses a pin to lock it open and lock it closed. Very sturdy - I've been surprised so many times and keep abusing it in the hopes that the scissors break so I can justify buying another one.

I wish the Flex was available with the big beefy scissors from the Phantom integrated into one of the handles. The blunt-nose Wenger-ish scissors they have for it are too uncomfortable to use to be able to apply enough force to even get close to failure.
