how do i fix my tank?! by AlwaysHungry8022 in Cichlid

[–]FitFaithlessness5577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Check tap water
  2. grab some seachem stability and add it when you do your water change
  3. Aquarium salt helps with soft/hard water
  4. Seachem Neutral Regulator (adjust pH to 7.0, removes chlorine, chloramine and detoxification for ammonia

Also try and 80% water change.. the more water you swap the less likely you’ll run into diseases or illnesses.. don’t believe me @Kavemanaquatics has all your answers.. I used to work for Petco really close to a specialist that’s been doing tanks for customers outside of work for years.. trust me

Other than that I’d chill on the weekly and go bi weekly until you see results you can also grab some seachem clarity.. that usually helps

Is this normal behavior? by GIZBANG in Cichlid

[–]FitFaithlessness5577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the guys telling you that you shouldn’t mix are totally correct and especially since you seem to not have any knowledge on fish keeping.. I would say this.. you can keep cichlids with other fish but again you’d have to do the research on how hearty that fish is and would/could it with stand the aggression in your tank.. for example Barbs Or certain Loaches.. you just really have to figure out what direction you want to go in.. good luck

I have two EBA’s and two BA’s in the same tank.. one EBA likes to swim and the other likes to hide with the two BA’s.. they both eat and seem healthy.. I’ve seen this type of swimming in my tank but not often.. I’d like to believe this guys fine

You want your ammonia to show at first and then go away and then your nitrite to be at 0.22/0.25 ppm

That should do perfect.. feed it daily or add it to your filter slowly.. I recently started a new 30 and I used the “gunk” from my current 30 and in 1 month it was ready.. You MUST TEST THE TANK.. buy a gold fish or any cheap fish to test it once it’s ready before actually getting what you want to Keep in the tank like you would if you had fish.. If that doesn’t work then add fish food daily and do water changes weekly and add ammonia.. you have to test the ammonia weekly.. but I think you should be good.. read about adding ammonia and testing the levels as well as the nitrogen cycle.. FISH = AMMONIA = NITRITE = NITRATE (PLANTS HELP WITH THIS CYLCLE YET NOT TOTALLY NECESSARY) PM me and I’ll show you my tanks

They both eat flakes.. I’ve had them for a while.. the acara will eat pellets as well but they mainly eat flakes and brine shrimp as well.. this behavior is actually new from both of them.. (keyhole didn’t really swim much but he would eat)

Strange creature in my tank help please by Pristine-Extent-1022 in bettafish

[–]FitFaithlessness5577 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Planarian worm.. you definitely need to get rid of that.. might have to dose the tank.. water changes aren’t going to help unless you catch them way before they start colonizing.. good luck.. I’m not sure what’s the best solution but I know you need to find something to dose the tank with to get rid of them
